Yzalirk Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 That could work. I was actually thinking about having different houses or tribes that are represented with each color. I think that would be pretty cool. It would make for some cool stories about the different houses or whatever fighting. Quote
BrickCurve Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Quick question, is the island of Al' Esterbroke part of Kaliphlin or Avalonia? Quote
LordDan Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 That depends on the outcome of Challenge IV. If te High Council wins it is Kaliphlin territory, if Ulandus wins it is 1/2 Kali 1/2 Avalonian and if the DK wins ( which seems likely ) it is Avalonian Quote

Yzalirk Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Back on the subject of the minifigures I mentioned before, I've decided to get some Fili and Balin minifigures because I just had this awesome idea I could use with them. I am thinking of incorporating roles for them, as if they are like houses or small factions, dedicated to certain things inspired by the color of their armor. I think that would be a great way to introduce my sig-fig and a possible storyline. Quote

Gideon Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Sorry for the double post, but I'd just like to encourage my fellow Kaliphlinites to take a look in the UoP thread from time to time and review the credit claims there (and definitely in new threads). The UoP program relies on our peer review! It is still 4 votes from established needed by the way, or did we reduce that to 3? Two votes against is anyway what I recall is required to deny a credit. While I'm on the topic, could someone review my missing builds or alternatively tell me why they did not merit the credits? Still missing approval/denial for: Ice Fishing in Mitgardia - certifications: Fishing [Agriculture and Zoology], Underwater [Hydrology] = 2 credits (missing two votes) Duel in the Sacred Forest - certifications: Courtroom [Trade and Law] = 1 credit (missing one vote) Trial of Haxtarus - certifications: Forests [Geography] = 1 credit (missing one vote) Transporting a Valuable Load - certifications: Grasslands [Geography] = 1 credit (missing one vote) Please respond here or by PM to avoid resurrecting the old threads. LittleJohn Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 +1 UoP for both Transporting a Valuable Load and Ice Fishing in Mitgardia Quote
Kai NRG Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Still 4. We do seem to in general have rather few active Kaliphlinians though. However, I at least make a point of reviewing every build that asks for credit if I see it (can't promise that I've never missed any though!) although occasionally I don't comment, usually because I don't feel it's good enough to get a +1 but I don't want to be the bad guy and give it a negative, especially if other Kaliphlinians have already passed it (now, if I accidentally miss your build, don't automatically assume that I thought it was lousy! ). On another note... just finished my husbandry entry. Personally, I kinda think it's my best build yet! Quote

Adair Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Did Gorr get attacked during the war and if so, what were the outcomes? I don't remember it getting attacked, but I was in a state of defeat and apathy near the end so I wouldn't know. :P Yes. I am still alive. Sort of. Quote

Sort of. Thanks! Looks like you have some great looking MOCs in your signature. You should link them to larger pics so people can get a better look at them... From what I read Ulandus was invaded by the Desert King's forces, so I'm thinking that Gorr may be the largest area that still resists the Desert King. Blackrock seems to have avoided any conflict and a statue of the banished First Centurion is being raised in defiance of the Desert King. However, the war did deplete the Order of Aslan's treasury so expansion plans have been postponed. Basically all that is there right now is the harbor master, a tower, the chapter house, and a windmill. All except for the harbor master are still under construction and the harbor master is soon to be renovated to add an inn to help manage the refugees that are coming ashore before they are sent on to Stone Town which being a larger city is better equipped to deal with them. Not sure how other Kaliphlin cities are dealing with the Desert King.... It would be nice to see how much power the Desert King gained from the war by showing cities under his control on the map. Quote
gedren_y Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 The Nestlands seem to be experiencing a hands off policy from the Desert King. It has been proven that the Nestlands are difficult to occupy by outside forces. Additionally, the Clans produce much of the pigment that goes into the wonderful color of Kaliphlin, and are major mineral and ore suppliers to the two greatest ports in the east of Kaliphlin. Reports of Sdair's quest have buoyed the spirits of the Nestlands Clans, and industry is up. Foreign trade has resumed in Cobalt Vale, but with it came an unfortunate incident. On the northern foothills of Vesw Nol an Avalonian man failed to heed the laws of the Nestlands. He killed, and cooked, a giant eagle. No one is telling exactly what happened to the man who called himself Aldicus Kol, but his distinctive lime green pack was found next to his uneaten, blasphemous food. One child claimed he saw a piece of yellow skinned scalp being carried by a monitor lizard, but this remains unconfirmed. The Vesw Nol Forestry Service have taken up the care of the eggs of the slain eagle. The Minister of External Affairs, Aturl Prndrn, was unavailable for comment, as he had left on a diplomatic relations mission to one of the northern Kaliphlin communities in the Rakath. No other Avalonian trading in the Nestlands has claimed any relation to this Aldicus Kol. The administrative staff of the Ministry of External Affairs has retained the offenders possessions, and public notices listing the most heinous crimes, and their punishments, in the Nestlands were posted to avoid further incidents. That is all the Clans have to say on the matter. Quote
BrickCurve Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 It would be nice to see how much power the Desert King gained from the war by showing cities under his control on the map. I agree, at the present it is unclear which cities are controlled by each faction (especially for new Kaliphlinites joining after the challenge). Also, does any body have an idea when the winners of categories A, B and D will be announced? Quote
Kai NRG Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 No idea when the winners will be announced, but like as not, not for a while. And of course, that will influence the outcome (though the DK probably still won), so there's no saying that even an accurate map of the Category C outcome would really be an accurate map of DK control - and of course, supposing the DK won the challenge, what does that mean after all? Since there are precious few "grassroots" Kaliphlinians even mildly in favor of the DK, I don't suppose he'll stay in power long. Quote

Since there are precious few "grassroots" Kaliphlinians even mildly in favor of the DK, I don't suppose he'll stay in power long. I wouldn't mind continuing the power struggle in a more slow-motion way, much like how the civil war in Nocturnus never ended but continued into awesome collaborative stories In the meantime, I think it's fine to continue in the GoH way of "tell whatever you want as long as you illustrate it in bricks and don't intrude on other builders' freedom". What I'm saying is that if Ska doesn't tell us otherwise I think it's fine for us to continue the story locally and make up local outcomes of the civil war, preferrably based on the last stages of Challenge C but not necessarily exactly how that map looked. For example, my thougts is now that Barqa (which to my knowledge remained in High Council hands throughout the civil war) has entered a truce with the Desert King to open up the trade routes north along the Arkbri river. Desert King tolls and major losses of river barges during the conflict are however still keeping trade levels much lower than what it was before. I also think that Ulandian naval power still makes it hard for sea trade south, due to the extensive privateer fleet which I assume still is at least partly operational? Or is it just the fear of the Ulandian naval power which makes the traders reluctant to sail south without good reason...? In any case, there is plenty of room for us to build MOCs of for example local treaties being signed (or broken ), life returning to normal (like the husbandry challenge), rebuilding, hopeless devastation etc...or something completely different. Umbra-Manis Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I think what happened was that High Council lands remained relatively the same, just with a new ruler. Ulandus on the other hand got beaten really badly into another dimension, since Xersia was lost to them at a 70% margin. Well over the threshold for the First Centurion being banished for quite a while. (This opinion was paid for by a supporter of the Desert King ) Quote

Just trying to tie my story in to the facts that others know so that my plot doesn't elaborately contradict others; stores, like if my plot had Ulandus ruling Kaliphlin, would make absolutely no sense. I'm going to go ahead and say that Lord Kral now is head of what is left of the Ulandis resistance, (i'll let Ska correct me if he had something else in mind) but that doesn't mean that Ulandis as a whole follows him. Perhaps a lot of the Ulandis resistance rallies after a war hero such as Ageven... As far as Masa, he still has to make his way back to Kaliphlin, but under a new name as there seems to be a price on his head now. Quote

Well over the threshold for the First Centurion being banished for quite a while. (This opinion was paid for by a supporter of the Desert King ) But then of course, no one is actually from Ulandus, it's just a few High Councillors that decided to cheer for the underdog (quite literally the underdog!). Ulandus could completely disappear beneath the waves again for all that would affect Ageven or probably anyone else, for that matter! Certainly I could care less about the First Centurion being banished. Less competition for good ol' Exalted Third Centurion Ageven Deraim. @Gideon, I agree, this could open up some great storyline possibilities. The big difference that I see between us and Nocty though is the fact that we don't get another challenge this book, and I'm not sure if it would be considered kosher for just a collaborative storyline to change Kaliphlin that radically. I'm all for a change though! Quote
gedren_y Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Adair's storyline has an active resistance. The Nestlands Clans are helping with the sheltering of civilians and some non-combat support. The DK may impose some kind of tax on Nestlands goods, and the still unfinished Lost Vega casino may have to contribute a portion of its profits to help ensure the community's autonomy. Didn't the DK threaten to sink Ulandus again? Also, there was a Ulandian resistance too, but I thought they nominally supported the High Council. If the sub-continent stays, then it will likely be mired in regional conflict that could give us a challenge for Book III. Quote

Bregir Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 As per the Kaliphlinite civil war, I have been operating with the scenario that the High council has signed truces with both the desert King and Ulandus, and that they are now discussing how to decide power under a new order. (Aka as we are waiting for the results :) ) Thus Beorthan has pulled all Trifork troops home for the time being. While still a firm supporter of the High council, he awaits further developments and possible requests for further support. That way there can still be pockets of resistance, while the main parties have laid down their arms. I will be looking very much forward to seeing where this will take us and Kaliphlin. And whether a still somewhat unbroken High Council and a proud but battered Ulandus will simply accept the desert King as their new overlord! ;) Quote

Either Gideon or Adair is probably the default voice of the High Council making Barqa??? the temporary capitol of the High Council since the Desert King captured Petraea. Robuko is probably the default voice of the Desert King, and Kai probably the default voice of Ulandus whose temporary capitol is???(Kai, your thoughts?), while gedren_y speaks on behalf of the Nestlands. Masa has no political clout since he was absent during the war. However Lord Kral does have some influence with Ulandis being related to the First Centurian. Ska and I had talked about some backstory that I had planned to build but then I got busy and then I lost all track ofwhat was going on in GoH and started posting scifi mocs lying about my lego room for AG. But I have a three month break now and I plan to do some more GoH stuff until the end of December when I will probably go MIA again for about another year this time. Quote
