NiceMarmot Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 All right, I'll sign up but I won't be posting new mocs soon, just want to be ready for when I do . Welcome aboard, Sebeus! Robuko -- congratulations! I remember when my son was born (six+ years ago); a great day. I'm surprised you had time to visit EB. You'll be a bit busy for a while... Only about four years until she can start playing with LEGO; earlier for Duplo! Quote
Maxim I Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 @Ska & Robuko : congratz mates!!! @Gideon: that's exactly what I had in mind as well!!! @Sebeus: glad to have you on our ship again captain! Quote
Gideon Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 You'll be a bit busy for a while... Only about four years until she can start playing with LEGO; earlier for Duplo! My 6 months old daughter loves playing with Duplo, or well...chewing on it and throwing it around So I'm still only letting her play with chew on some used bricks, saving the new bricks for actual building later. SkaForHire Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Congratulations Ska! And even more happy news in Kaliphlin, we had a baby girl yesterday. Night stalker, good luck with your studies and do pop in even if you are not able to build for a while. Kai, good luck on your travels! Gideon, my thoughts on sultans gate are exactly as you have it there. I am not sure if I will have much building time for a while though. Congrats Robuko!!! And, thank you all for the well wishing! The Wedding went off without a hitch, and it was great. I am just extremely tired and worn down this week, I will try to get back up to speed next week. Still reading Kaliphlin, but I am behind everywhere else! Quote
J.V.D. Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Rumors about a Historical Building Program at the Petraea University are spreading through the galaxy. This might be a good opportunity to venture more into building / MOC-ing instead of mainly collecting. So I plan to head my flying saucer to a remote spot in the Siccus badlands, hitch a ride with a passing caravan to Petraea, and check if I can apply for a Kaliphlin residence permit or green card.. Welcome to Kaliphlin! We do not judge anyone based on color of skin or shape of the head. Just put together a signature fig and post a picture of him/her/it here in the Kaliphlin thread to join the build and start building for the Doctorate of Historica program I guess the lecture hall at the UoP was big enough to be visible from space? (By the way, do we really need to write UoP all the time for University of Petraea, why not just UP? And at least on my phone it would be much easier to write UPDH instead of UoP DoH ) Edited November 14, 2013 by Gideon Quote

J.V.D. Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Nahoj remained a bit vague when he registered under that name as a resident of the city of Barqa. Though generaly harbour cities welcome strangers, he chose to be discrete about his origins, genealogy and past life.. He only mentioned that he selected Kaliphlin as his new dwelling place because it reminded him somewhat of the home of his former employer; Tatooine. So, until somebody has a need for his talents and hires him, he lives in a rundown part of town, dresses in rags, and scrapes together a small income on the local markets. Helping the shoppers by taking some excess weight from their purses... Quote

The Yeti Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 So I'm not in Kaliphlin, but that is genius J.V.D. Glad to see other people expanding things beyond boring humans. Quote
mrcp6d Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) J.V.D., welcome to the party! Nice little intro MOC too, hope you have fun here. To the rest of you Kaliphlins (Kaliphlinites?), somehow I missed the "Inside Kaliphlin" series while it was going on. Now that I've seen it, I thought it was more appropriate to give you all a shout-out here for all that fine work rather than necro-bumping 20 threads. Good work! Gideon Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) Welcome to Kaliphlin Nahoj! As a member of the city council of Barqa, Sir Gideon does of course not approve of crime or any other shady business going on in the city (unless he knows about it and it serves his purposes ) Nice perspective and minifig posing in that build by the way! Mike S Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) Welcome to Kaliphlin Nahoj! Someone needs to give Nahoj a job before he "helps" the wrong "shopper"... Btw, Masa has unexpectadly been "drafted" by the 2014 Hero Factory and taken to some faraway galaxy. (My 2 year old son has been wanting me to build him a "truck" and as CITY is boring for me, the 2014 Hero Factory art combined with Galaxy Squad gave me some inspiration) About plural Kaliphlin, I've always called ourselves Kaliphlinians lol. Sounds good as well I suppose, not being a native English speaker I'm not too good at this...what would be other possible ways to name the citizens of a country? (assuming the name of the country is the base for the word) Edited November 15, 2013 by Gideon Quote

(assuming the name of the country is the base for the word) I've always used Kaliphlins, but it could be Kaliphlinians, Kaliphlinistas, Kaliphliners. I kinda like the last one actually. Quote
gedren_y Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I always thought of Kaliphlin as both singular and plural, and referring to the people, not the place. I always thought of it like this: A man from the Kalaph is Kaliphlin. People of the Kalaph are Kaliphlin. Quote
LegoDrake Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I thought that the people of Kaliphlin were called Kaliphlinites, but I assume that it's really up to the speaker/poster. Quote

gedren_y Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Yesterday I took advantage of the Lego VIP special, free shipping and triple VIP points. I was only able to buy a couple of sets, but the parts I am getting are going to help with my Challenge build. I'm really happy that once this order is processed, I'll have over 200 VIP points. My next order should be a doozey. Quote
