DM: Great to hear from you, as long as you haven't sold off all your blocks and gone into a dark age :P I hope your father gets well soon, and I know early career can be tenuous (I wish I could get out of the stage myself!). Keep on fighting the good fight, and make sure to convert the g/f to Lego!!!

RBC, an approximation of Flagg is fine when representing him. As for rules, there are no major rules. Unless SI-MOCs comes back to the project any time soon, I think we are assuming that Dex is mostly ruling Kaliphlin through the council and doesn't come out in public often. However, as long as you didn't plan to kill him off or make him commit some sort of major crime, I am sure you can use him in your MOC.

Ha Gideon, I hadn't noticed yet, congrats on getting THE tag!

Thank you! And thank you for pointing it out, as I had not seen it myself since I'm mostly viewing the forum in the mobile view

Very quiet here in Kaliphlin except for Ska's recent barrage of builds, is everyone busy building or has real life or other hobbies kept people in other places than the great southern Historica?

I myself have been struggling with trying to get a decent Sultan's Gate build finished alongside all the tasks required of a father of an 11 month baby... The gatehouse itself is in a ok state, so I'll do some photographing of that tomorrow to make the deadline for that but I'll have to postpone the final version atop some layers of cliff to sometime in April or May...

Really excited about building more builds for SG however, I already have a few ideas I'm also gathering some ideas as to how Barqa will qualify as a city in the Historican Settlements task, right now I'm in the process of deciding if I should go the Kabel route and build each module to last for a while (and therefore also have to give attention to all four sides) or just build modules to photograph one by one. The "to last" approach has potential to create a greater whole (like a street of the city or something like that), but will consume a lot of pieces and force me to be more careful in the parts usage. On the other hand, the "use whatever pieces-photograph-dismantle" approach I'm using right now for the Sultan's Gate build gives me more room to just build without thinking too much on the brick disposition. I also still have my Nordana castle more or less untouched which locks up a fair share of my collection (possibly saving it for another exhibition in November), not sure if I want to lock up even more pieces long-term and especially not my more limited tan/dark tan collection...

Lego is my only hobby. Although some may consider my activities of fishing, gardening, and racquetball as hobbies, I consider them essential for sustainability. I have several builds that have been waiting on the February 8th Bricklink order that hopefully will arrive by tomorrow. Then finding time to photograph them after they are finished while I work two jobs, go to school full time and have a second child on the way...

The reason I let loose that barrage was because I needed to stop thinking about them while researching, grading, etc... There are actually two more builds for the series... but I might be satisfied enough right now to get back to real work. My next build will be a large part of Eastgate's bay, so that I might run another "call to arms" event by the end of the summer. And... finally portray some of the home city.

I do wish we had a little more life in here, part of me worries that we have lost so many people to LCC that things are getting stretched thin. I guess we will find out who is left when Challenge II gets rolling.

Lego really is my only hobby too, especially when I couldn't walk. I sometimes do photography, and I am back to playing recreational sports... that don't require me to run haha.

@Gideon: it sure consumes a hell lot of pieces but it's worth it! I just keep on adding which my Kids love big time. Every second weekend I have to put it together so they can play with it. And, best of all: my wife really loves it too and has agreed that I need to buy more bricks every now and then so I can expand. I also infested some of my colleagues who now keep asking me for ever more pics, especially the art teachers of my school ...

I totally understand about wanting to get a build done so you can stop thinking about it! I got to remind myself sometimes when I get a bit stressed because I haven't completed a certain build that I have no real deadline for it. The point is to enjoy the process just as much as the finished product.

I hadn't realized we had lost anybody to LCC. Then again I haven't really paid much attention to LCC. I really don't see any perks to LCC over GoH.

I didn't realize we'd lost anyone to LCC either, and I'm fairly active there :look:

As Mike S said, there aren't really any perks to LCC over GoH. In fact I much prefer GoH, more prizes, more established builders and the general maturity level is higher (because EB has a higher minimum age).

I didn't mean just Kaliphlin, although there are a few prominent builders here that do both. (Kayne and Kai come to mind).

It was more over time, I think. We lost quite a few when LCC first started, but I think a lot of them were people who were originally from CC and wanted something like Guilds and went back when they had something like that at "home."

I haven't left GoH for LCC...just do both! And I still read the forums here every day, I think I just don't chat as much as I probably should.

I'm here everyday, but don't often respond until I have something important or interesting to say. I don't even bother with LLC, and have rarely visited CC since I joined EB.

My important news is that I will be abandoning my Anticlimax storyline. Too much time has passed from the Revolword saga, and for the storyline to work I would need to build another three MOCs more than I have currently in production. I just don't have the time. I will be reworking my existing builds for a more current storyline. I still plan to use Kaïn Revolword in one of my storylines, with Ecclesiastes' permission.

Other news; I did finish the bird form of the Armored Eagle Goddess. I have the large Duplo Egg, and hopefully will be able to launch the Quest for the Egg saga next week.

I said "do both" :) I am amazed by your LCC stuff too. I was just pointing out people who had not left, but spread their efforts between two worlds. Which is cool, I always thought DaMax's idea about a cross world competition would be fun.

Jerrik a simple ranger and his brother Thokul a wealthy merchant and a minor wizard, now control their father's legion after his death.

They have vowwed to use their power for good and to serve and protect the people of Kaliphlin!

I'm currently working on a ship for GNAR, but it's gone through several iterations; I'm not convinced with the results yet.

I've got several ideas for SG and I want to expand the tower of wizardry introduced in the minigate build, which will probably be a build for each floor (interior).

I've decided to join Kaliphlin. Will hopefully get my sigfig posted sometime today with its story

Welcome to the fair lands of Historica! Your figs look nice, Trooper and I'm interested in seeing story lines from both of you! I would say you joined the wrong guild, but Avalonia is kinda messed up at the moment.

Welcome to Kaliphlin guys! The Kaliphlin Council is currently renovating quite a few of its older towns and cities as well as establishing a few new ones. Everyone needs a good place to kick back and relax after an adventure, so I highly recommend building your characters a home base that can be expanded/modified as your characters' story progresses.

No, other than Challenges (next scheduled challenge is set in Avalonia), you are free to make up your own stories and adventures. Another fun thing to do if you have the time is to team up with another GoH member or two and combine stories.

I would advice you to join flickr.com so you can host your images there. And you can link them to the forum.

Welcome new Kaliphlin.

Right now we have a couple things going on:

For Kaliphlin members we have the Sultan's Gate Community Build. The Main Gate portion of the contest will be ending on March 31st, but the rest of the community challenge still has quite some time left. There are also prizes.

For the whole of GOH there are The Great Mitgardia/Kaliphlin Naval Arms Race (prize challenge) and The University of Petraea's Doctorate of Historica Program (advancing building techniques).

As for how to post pictures, most members host their images at sites like Flickr or Brickshelf.
