Mike S Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I am Aranethon, and I nwish to join Kaliphlin. Do I need to go somewhere first, or just sign up here? Welcome! All you have to do to officially join is to introduce and post your sigfig (main character) here, and thats it. Quote
Aranethon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Thank you very much. This shall take some time... Is there any way to create a town or large ruin? I know you can't simply build cities at will, but is there a way to make some form of other settlement? Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Thanks Gunman and gedren-y - I'll look into flickr. Aranethon- I'm by no means a administrator of this site, but I believe you're welcome to build whatever you want when free building (Unless you are doing a challenge and the criteria is set on a certain subject, or it specifically bans the building of a certain subject in the challenge). Again, I'm not an official member of GoH yet, and f I am mistaken, can a experienced Kaliphlinite (Kaliphlinian?) correct me? Edited March 29, 2014 by Scaevola Quote
Kayne Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I said "do both" :) I am amazed by your LCC stuff too. I was just pointing out people who had not left, but spread their efforts between two worlds. Which is cool, I always thought DaMax's idea about a cross world competition would be fun. I didn't think you were saying I left, but since I know that I am not as vocal as I should be, I just wanted to clarify for anyone who had any questions on my continued existence...I actually only joined LCC when we were in between Book 1 and Book 2 and I wasn't sure how long we would be on hiatus. It turned out that we were not on hiatus for very long! Quote

I know you can't simply build cities at will, but is there a way to make some form of other settlement? To have a location officially recognized, follow these guidelines. Other than that you can always make up a location but if nothing really is built there it most likely won't make it onto the official map. We have a map of Kaliphlin on the first page of this thread. If you have questions about geographical features, a lot of information is in the wiki or you can just ask. Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Complain about lack of membership, and we get three new members, should I complain about it more? I've decided to join Kaliphlin. Will hopefully get my sigfig posted sometime today with its story Excellent, great to have you here! Jerrik a simple ranger and his brother Thokul a wealthy merchant and a minor wizard, now control their father's legion after his death. They have vowwed to use their power for good and to serve and protect the people of Kaliphlin! Welcome Jerrik, we need your help more than ever in these troubling times. I am Aranethon, and I nwish to join Kaliphlin. Do I need to go somewhere first, or just sign up here? Welcome Aranethon! As has already been mentioned, just post a sigfig here and you are on board. Thank you very much. This shall take some time... Is there any way to create a town or large ruin? I know you can't simply build cities at will, but is there a way to make some form of other settlement? There are a few empty dots on our Kaliphlin map that need names and masters, and of course, you can build builds in any existing location, or make up your own. That contest is a good place to start, eventually our mapmaker will get everyone on the map, he has just been pretty busy with real life stuff, so give it some time after you make your city. Although, you can always demonstrate where on the map your city is by saving the image and putting your city on it and reposting it for us to see. To all new members, and the older new members I may have missed. I am going to update the member rollcall in the next few days. If you are not already on it (post three of this thread) then let me know so that I may get you on it. Edited March 29, 2014 by SkaForHire Quote

Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) My Kaliphlinite sigfig, Sir Horatius Urga. Urga is from the Isle of Quataria (roughly due south of the city of Petraea, off the coast). A prominent local politician, Urga is the Collector of the Port of Anemaquar (Collector of Customs), his home city. Sir Horatius Urga is also Vice President of the Quatarian Shipping Federation, which controls most of the sea trade on the central waters south of the Kaliphlin mainland. Urga is a key politician in the State of Quataria (which he will annex into Kaliphlin if accepted), ruled by the Hierarch Ungaran. However, the state is divided by a small civil war. The Urgaul Pact, which encompasses the southern part of the small isle, is an ardently proslavery, agrarian faction that split from Quataria when the government enacted legislation that would ban slavery. The pact subsequently declared war on Quataria. Therefore, the State joins Kaliphlin in the hope the the guild will help tranquilize their war-ravaged island. Edited March 29, 2014 by Scaevola Quote

Aranethon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I'm drawing up a plan for a full city. How does "Nasitadel" sound? Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Thanks Gideon- I'm hoping I'll be some help to the guild. Will hopefully have my first moc posted today. Edited March 29, 2014 by Scaevola Quote
Gideon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I'm drawing up a plan for a full city. How does "Nasitadel" sound? Where in Kaliphlin is that? Is it a coastal city like so many others, or is it one of the oasis cities inland? We seem to have less members building in the south and east nowadays so you're more than welcome to start building Nasitadel somewhere in the south or the east There is an ongoing task for building Historican Settlements, check it out: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92705 Quote
Aranethon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Thank you, Lord Gideon. Nasitadel is a trading city on an inland island. Five rivers lead from its lake, several of which go out to sea. You guys are going to be amazed. For although I'm not a brilliant builder, I am an excellent writer. (I am credited for it, I'm not just blowing my own trumpet) I look forward to building for Kaliphlin. Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Aranethon- I look forward to seeing and reading about your city then Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 I think you mean post three or third post of page 1, right? Thank you, fixed. My Kaliphlinite sigfig, Sir Horatius Urga. The council welcomes the official addition of Quataria into Kaliphlin. One question, is Quataria one of the spice islands? We can also organize some peace keeping troops from the capital to help negotiate a treaty between your warring factions. I'm drawing up a plan for a full city. How does "Nasitadel" sound? Sounds great! As Gideon said, we are heavy on active cities in the west and south, so as guild leader, I feel I should encourage people to build inland (oasis) cities or in the East. However, we have always had a policy that our builders can be anywhere on our map. We would just like to see more action in other regions of Kaliphlin, so I hope you all will consider those areas first. Thank you, Lord Gideon. Nasitadel is a trading city on an inland island. Aranethon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I'm going to examine your map now, and find the best location. Quote

Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Thanks SkaForHire (Do you have a nickname) in any case Quataria is not known for its spice. The state (or rather Kaliphlinite Principality) is mainly a molasses, rum, and black oil producer not so much spice producer. As for the Urgaul Pact, they are mostly sugar and indigo planters. Oh yes, and Kaliphlinite troop would be heartily welcomed to assist the state. As for the treaty, neither the Pact or the Principality have a clear advantage over the other ,which would make negotiations exceedingly difficult. The war will have to rage a little longer before its resolution. Edited March 29, 2014 by Scaevola Quote

Sounds like it's located somewhere in the Akhenaten river delta then, as that's probably the only place in Kaliphlin where there are so many rivers? I like your descriptive style, but please check out the maps and suggest where the city is located. Edit: Ska was quicker to reply with the link Edited March 29, 2014 by Gideon Quote

Excellent to hear more about Quataria, by spice island, I meant was it located in the chain of islands known as the spice islands, they are roughly due south of the capital, so that is why I asked. On another note, how did we get three members in one day? Is someone recruiting? lol Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Oh. In that case, yes Quataria is in the Spice Islands (as it would be in that vicinity). Regarding the membership today, I have been looking at these forums for a decent month or so, but wanted to refine my building skills a little before I actively engaged in GoH. I just noticed your member number, I can't believe there have been 120000 members of Eurobricks, that is insane! Quote
