Aranethon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Nasitadel is a rich port city located along a major trade route. It's massive and multiple docks, town districts, complexes built in the general Kaliphlinite style all surround a central island. There are four rivers that wind their way through the Imperios Island that feed into the two joined lakes that hold the three small islands that flank Imperial Nasitadel. One island is in the centre of the Upper Lake, this holds the Castle that acts as the administrative headquarters of the Imperial Navy, and two smaller ones on the North East and South West flanks of the main island. One river feeds in from the North-most point of the Upper Lake, two more from the East of the Prime Lake and one from the Western ocean. The Western, North and Upper East Gate Rivers have great towered drawbridges across them, while the Capitoline is connected to the land masses by two such permanent bridges; one on the Eastern side and the I the in the South. The purpose of these bridges is to control the flow of various vessels, and prohibit access to others since there is a limited amount of space in the Docks. There are entire fleets of trading ships waiting outside the island, all vying for access, they are controlled by the Merchants a Guild, who provide registration and passage services, for whoever has the cash. The only entry free of charge and limit is the Lower Eastern, which is open to the poorer class such as fishers and refugees. Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) That's a large amount of members! Also, I'm starting a new topic to showcase my first moc free build for Kaliphlin, and was wondering how to get the pics on it. I know how to utilize the attachments, but it seems they only allow a small amount of data to be stored on there at a time. Aranethon- That city is certainly coming together! It sounds like Nasitadal and Eastgate are quite similar in their administration. GEAR Co. welcomes more trade partners. Also, I hope you have a visual, that may make it "click" for some of us. We upload the pictures there, then use the share BB HTML code it gives you for each picture directly in our posts. I am guessing there is a tutorial somewhere for this... Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Thanks Ska. I think i'll look into flickr or a like site Edited March 29, 2014 by Scaevola Quote
Aranethon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 How do I add an image to these posts? I have a map that the city design is based on. And, by the way, I only discovered what Eastgate was earlier today. Nasitadel has been in my mind for over a year now, so please please please don't suspect me of plagiarism. I dislike plagiarism and avoid it as best as I can in every aspect of my life. Thank you for helping me out in this matter. I'm going to enjoy this. Quote
Gideon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Not to try to dampen anyone's creativity here, but the choice of words is quite important here to be able to make a cohesive canon. When styles such as 'Imperial' is used, it does not fit as smoothly with other builders contributions. I'd like to think of Kaliphlin as a gathering of more or less independent city-states. This means that it of course is reasonable for such a city-state to be a very important trading center and have it's own navy etc. On a way off topic note... I just noticed your member number, I can't believe there have been 120000 members of Eurobricks, that is insane! Sadly, I think that a fair number of those have been spam bots... Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I submitted a new topic but it did not appear on the forum. Does it need to receive approval by an administrator before it is displayed? Quote
Mike S Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I submitted a new topic but it did not appear on the forum. Does it need to receive approval by an administrator before it is displayed? Not that I know of. You have enough posts that you should be able to do just about everything except post polls. Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Nevermind. The administrator is obstructing new topics for fourteen min. Edited March 29, 2014 by Scaevola Quote
Gideon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 My first build for Sultan's Gate is finished: I'd like to claim the following UoP credits for this build: Roofing [architecture] (second roof of three, for the domed roof). City scene [anthropology] Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Nice job Gideon (I gave you the UoP credits on the thread for the moc) Quote
Gideon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Nice job Gideon (I gave you the UoP credits on the thread for the moc) Thanks! Usually it's enough to give feedback in the MOC threads (if there is one) however, thanks for the credits Even if some guilds think the post count is everything, sometimes MOC feedback has a tendency to clutter the main threads. Quote
Scaevola Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Ok I'll keep that in mind for future posts Quote
Gideon Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Ok I'll keep that in mind for future posts Don't hesitate to post stuff not related to specific MOCs here of course! I think we all appreciate when there's a lot of life in the thread. Edited March 29, 2014 by Gideon Quote
Gideon Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I got my interpretation of the main gate finished in time also: I tried to keep it roughly the same size as Robuko's other side of the gate, and I added a small Western hint as well Quote
Rogue Angel Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 53 posts in 1 day?!!! And on a weekend day at that (which always SEEM to be incredibly slow days for GoH). Conveniently, that places this thread at 17 more replies than Avalonia's thread... Quote

Images: I use Flickr, and just use their HTML code for sharing on bulletin boards... you just paste it right into the text box. That is the easiest way, I believe. My words may have been misinterpreted. I just meant our two cities are similar in administration style, I did not mean you were copying Eastgate! I am sure this type of administration is quite prevalent throughout our guild. Sadly, I think that a fair number of those have been spam bots... boooooo. Oh well, I went to a Lego party today (only the second time I have ever met people offline in the legoverse) and no one seemed to have heard of EB, let alone GoH. So I tried to plug us. Quote
Aranethon Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Thank you for the response. And when it said "imperial" earlier I had forgotten to edit it out. I've had this city description for some time now, and I've always liked the imperial approach. Sorry and thanks. I got my interpretation of the main gate finished in time also: I tried to keep it roughly the same size as Robuko's other side of the gate, and I added a small Western hint as well That is an amazing build, Gideon! robuko Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) It's great to see new members in Kaliphlin, a warm welcome to you all. I hope you all have a lot of fun here. There is a tutorial on using and deep linking flickr photos in one of the forums which is really helpful, sorry I can't link it from my phone - search for deeplink in the top right search box. Please let me know when you get flickr accounts so I can invite you to the Kaliphlin flickr group. Sir Horatius, slavery is a live and unresolved issue in Historica, Kaliphlin has no laws against it but we find the results are better when our labour force is incentivised properly. Jerrik, great to see those Roman parts in the guild! Arenathon, Nasitadel sounds great, although I am not sure we have a lot of lakes on trade routes. You might want to check out Barqa on the map and from Mike's builds, which sounds similar and could use some more buildings. In this guild some people "own" territories and others do not, but we are all free and welcome to build anywhere. Gedren, that really is an anti climax!. I am looking forward to seeing some more from Nestlands. Gideon, congratulations on your very well deserved tag! You and Gabe makes 2 now in the guild (I think), which is awesome! I really don't know how but the whole Dugal resurrection story passed me by. The story telling and builds from Mike and Ska are brilliant. Great stuff guys, the collaborative stories are always the most creative and entertaining. I am kind of stuck/bored with my ship build. Just not my thing, and I can't really be bothered with strings and historical accuracy (sorry kabel). Unfortunately it's blocking my building table from getting on with more Sultan's Gate, which I am much more interested in. Edited March 30, 2014 by robuko Quote
Aranethon Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Thanks. I need a lake and multiple rivers for Nasitadel, but if there is none I can come up with a real oasis fortress city instead. Quote
robuko Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Aranethon, here is the Kaliphlin map from page 1 of the Kaliphlin thread (everything south of the text that says Siccus Badlands is basically Kaliphlin. See if there is anything that works for Nasitadel. Here is the how to link pictures topic for our new members. It's quite a steep learning curve, but well worth it. Quote
Scaevola Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Thank you Robuko . I've been struggling to properly post pics for my introductory moc I spent the last couple weeks building. I have been using attachments or copying and pasting from a regular Microsoft pic folder which causes the site to glitch Quote

Not all of Kaliphlin's geographical attributes have been mapped out. I circled a spot on Kaliphlin's map that is empty and probably would be a possible location for your description: https://www.flickr.com/gp/78205735@N08/6Q66CY Edited March 30, 2014 by Mike S Quote
