That is very cool. Mine is Concra-Tunisia, a complete world divided by war and competitive empires.

Do you guys know who I'll have to talk to for permission to use Historica as a festival background?

I would say ZC is the "steward of GoH" That would be who you should ask. I am not sure if anyone technically owns the "rights" to it, as none of the original four guild leaders are still here, and the story and world has been populated by over 100 different people.

I'm new here but SkaForHire is leader of Kaliphlin, and Ecclesiastes is the the leader of GoH. I'm pretty sure rogueang is leader of Avalonia, ZCerebrus is leader of Nocturnus, and kabel is leader of Mitgardia (though I can't be sure)

Ecc is the leader of Mitgardia, Kabel is a regulator. ZC runs the show.

Thank you. How do I approach him?

Either way, if GoH is cleared for this use I'll have to edit a few things; not many parts are very available in SA. You guys really have no idea how lucky you are. A lot more things are available over seas.

Actually, Ecclesiastes is the leader of Mitgardia. I'm just the clown who's trying to get people (preferably Mitgardians) to (free) build during the challenges!

I haven't shared any images from Flickr since the new system went into place. Took me a while to find out the Push Pin icon in the images sharing is what we need for BBCode. Just be sure the image size you select is under 600x800.

Just to remind people, this is where the Nestlands Clans are located.

Everlast is located somewhere north of Qakyr, but the exact location is a secret.

Contacting the EB staff is best one by PM. Guilds of Historica displays have been at a few conventions.

Absolutely. Sometimes the stone is painted, sometimes other types of rock are imported, and then of course, there are locations that have a natural abundance of different kinds of rock. It is up to you to figure out what you want to use. And you can always explain it away with story.

Okay thanks guys :classic: my first build is basically done just needs to be revised for ways to improve/for flaws and then I need a good story and lighting.

Its a watch tower near the border its actually coming along quite nicely

Disregard my last comment. kabel (see below) knows more about such a thing than me. Oh and I finally learned to operate the pics and my first moc is posted. Special thanks to robuko, who provided me with the tutorial that finally made it click for me :classic: .

I usually hand draw mine with some pencils and paper (looks more natural). Then I just draw random zigzaging lines for continents and islands (this could be used for the foundation of the city). Map out the BASIC shape. Avoid circular or rounded shapes (unless there is a valid reason for it). Then go back and trace over the lines with more detail. This darkens the edges nicely and adds a realistic look. For buildings, map out streets first and name them. Then draw boxes for buildings. Remember to put a key and a compass rose on the map. An example of this technique is here. https://www.flickr.c...05/13519003315/. You can crumple it, tear it, or burn parts of it for a more ancient look. To get the darkish shading for the desert parts, I drew tiny thin lines and smudged them with my finger. Hope this helps.

The upper link is also a map of Quataria for those interested.

A better look at the map

(not to scale)

North of the bolded dotted line is the Principality and south of it is the Urgaul Pact

hey you two, just for reference, this aint no chat! If you want to talk to each other use the PM system, which would also be the way to approach Z!

Arenathon is planning a new Kaliphlin city and was just advising Arenathon on how to draft it. Also thank you for the correction kabel. I'll leave such questions to you and others the next time such a question arises

Well it isn't a two person chat, but it is a guild chat... I don't think what they wrote really was directed at each other, they were just the two people on and responding at the time.

Nice Marmot has a map tutorial somewhere... Not sure where the link is, but it is pretty good. I thought we had it in one of the main threads? Oh look what search has brought up...

I've been having a real hard time searching for the older stuff on here as the search seems to be limited to the last two years while GoH has been around longer than that. Any way to turn change the search settings?

Not that I know of... I knew that he used the word "gimp" in the tutorial, so I searched gimp tutorial map and it came up.

The search does seem pretty pesky at times, I didn't know about the two year limit, but that does pose a problem. I stuck that tutorial in our front page for future reference though.

Where is the general chat thread?

As in off topic? We really don't have one. We go off topic in these guild threads then meander our way back on. As I said, I don't think the chat was off topic.

Seems like there's been a good deal going on while I've been away...

Just signed up for Lego Fan Weekend in Skærbæk in September :classic:

Anyone else going there interested in doing a Kaliphlin/GoH collaboration of some kind?
