Doesn't the phrase "not bearded" also mean nonsense in Mitgardian?

Quite right. As does the phrase "don't like beer". And "out of beer" is a synonym for "end of the world".

Whereas here in Kaliphlin, we have 287 words for sand. And our word for crazy is the same as our word for Mitgardian.

Exactly why those Mitgardians have 472 words for snow, and 195 words for ice!

I think they have one word which covers all plants and trees, and no words for hot or warm. They just use the phrase "not cold", which in their language, also has the meaning of "nonsense".

Putting Fire into Mitgardia... are we forgetting something here :look:

But I agree, we are the coolest guild

"Well now, it seems much has changed since my father went missing. Kalin Hardiel, daughter of the late Captain Hardiel, here. I and my men are ready to serve Kaliphlin in anyway necessary, of course for a small price, but every band of hired-swords need to make a living. I accompanied my father on many of his caravan escorts and expeditions and am familiar with every trade route and desert road from Eastgate to Berigora."

A warm welcome to you Kalin Hardiel! May your service to Kaliphlin be prosperous!

We always need more soldiers keeping the trade routes safe from all those pesky Hand of Corruption remnants preying on our peaceful traders, which really are irreplaceable to maintain Kaliphlin's wealth. I know for sure that the council of Barqa is always looking for able hands to secure our trade

Good to have you back WD! Kalin Hardiel reminds me of Princess Zoe from The Settlers 7....Nice combos!

I have officially decided which Guild I shall join for Book 2, and in doing so, I hope to encourage users to join the other Guilds as well. You can find my proclamation and Guild assessments here. Let me know if Kaliphlin is well represented.

I notice there's a few assignments in the first post, but it seems the deadlines for those have all passed, is this correct?

The deadline for Raising the Dead – Family Heirloom is October 15th I believe. Also Skaforhire mentioned having a Kaliphlin specific guild assignment in the works, so be on the lookout for that fairly soon...

Right, I just have to check on a few things and find what I am looking for (I don't have time to do a major build as an introduction to the small challenge.) I hope to have it up by the end of the week.

Sounds great! As long as the deadline won't be too soon I'm looking forward to building something for Kaliphlin again :classic:

Welcome back WbD! Kalin is always most welcome in Peregrinus, as her father was before her. :classic:

Anyway, i've got another update to my Peterea uni lecture theatre project to show you all. I'm pretty much at the level of the roof now (i'm planning a big domed roof), have finished the back alcoves and added butresses. I'm quite happy with things so far but i'm very nervous about tackling the roof! Still, i only have a week and a half left before it goes to the Seymour show, so no time to muck about. :oh3:

Looks amazing Gabe! I'm very interested to see how you pull off a domed roof.

One slight criticism: the vines on the outside look very regular, I'd mix up the sizes and angle some of the leaves :classic:

Looking awesome! From my experience from your past MOCs, I'm sure any suggestions we can give, you already have plans to improve....

Wow, Totally awesome, Gabe, can't way to see the finished product.

Which reminds me, we were supposed to do a part two university challenge. I think we will schedule that one as a "holiday" build guild challenge. What does everyone think? Maybe start it around Nov 15th and end Jan 15th? I will see if I can get permission to get some prizes attached.

That sounds good to me Ska!

Will other Historicans get to join?:grin:

Thanks Soccerkid! Yeah the green foliage is more of a placeholder element at the moment so it does look a bit simple - i'm stil trying out various colours and configurations. My original idea was to have vines twinning up the columns, but with the addition of the butressess and stairways it all started to look a bit visually messy. I'll certainly revisit it - for now i think i need to work on more structural issues!

And yeah i'm interested as well about how i'm going to pull this off lol

Thanks Masa! I have a few ideas, true, but i'm always open to suggestions or advice!

Sounds good Ska, i'd be in that! Sorry this project has taken so long btw. :cry_sad:

@Gabe: Looking good. The Indiana Jones whip stretched out makes a good approximation of a wrapping vine. Slide a couple 3x4 leaves down the length of it to give it a lush feel. Dark red ones will make it look exotic or poisonous. Connecting multiples can get a bit tricky, depending on how tight you want the 'vines' secured.

@Gabe, Looking great! I never was a huge fan of sand green but I do like the architectural details!

Do we have to wait that long to start? By the looks of things I'm going to be quite busy November through January at least. Maybe we could start Nov 1st?

Gabe, that's looking pretty epic. Can't wait to see the finished product. Where do the students sit however? On the stairs?

Sounds good. I already know what I'll be building -- the MOC I planned but never got around to building for the first challenge!

You could start sooner, as you all know what is coming. I was going to suggest that since the University celebrates diversity of Kaliphlin and all lands that perhaps some of the builds should be "decorated" for various holidays observed by the students attending.

The reason for the later start date is I have another guild challenge in mind that would last from this week until Nov 15th, but we could overlap them and start on Nov 1st. Keep us all with many options to build.
