Could I perhaps make an island? A large one, albeit.

I'm not a guild leader, but I know DaMaximus created several of his own guilds on islands off the mainland of Historica.

wow, thanks Infernum.

I guess I have to make the call on that one... The answer is yes, but there is already a large island not on the map (I don't want to give away too much.) Right now our mapmaker is really busy and has not checked in for a while, so it would also take a while to put it on the map. PM me where you want to put it, and I will make sure it does not overlap with the other island. As for size, I think anything up to a third the size of the island of Gorr is alright.

DM has continents, very far away and mostly out of play for everyone else. Also, he has a city in Kaliphlin. I think an Island not more than 20 -30 miles from the coast would keep you in Kaliphlin.

Behemoth asks about the mountainous region. Here is a map of the Nestlands. Each mountain is claimed by a sect of clans, upon which dot several villages. The valley town, Cobalt Vale, is where all the heads of the clans meet, the center of trade for the clans, and where political relations with outlanders are settled. The area around the villages is sub-tropical rainforest.

There are a few places, like the Nestlands, but there are a lot of mountains to choose from.

Alright, awesome!

In your guys' opinions, what would you call the people (based off my profile icon) be called and where would a good home area be?

There is an island on the official map between Kaliphlin and Avalonia. not sure if somebody already did something with it :)

MAESTRO (the trade company of Mpya Stedor) is looking forward to your city ! As long as your city is not located in the South East of Kaliphlin, there is huge growing potential :)

In the South East are already 2 big cities (Mpya Stedor and Berigora) and a new upcomming town/city called Auner

Zar-Ifrikt? With "Katib" as an honorific along the lines of Lord? Keep the names harsh, in keeping with their look.

Genius! I'm confused, is Zar-Ifrikt the name of the race or just the name of a single being, along with Katib?

Due east of Qarkyr is the mouth of a river and inlet, with a small island off the coast. It is a good spot for lush greenery, and is along the trade route to several Nocturnus ports. Between there and the Nestlands is Mountain Mummy territory. I believe there is another's territory north of Qarkyr, but am unsure of the exact location.

In the southern sea there are some islands, but the sea is treacherous. Gabe set one of his Book 1 challenge builds there: Quest for the water crystal - The isle with no name.

Sanguinem Domini, are the Latin Words for Blood Lords. You could work off that for something cool.

Not bad, not bad.

Though, like what Lord Vladivus said, it would probably be better to keep with a harsher and more terrifying name for the race I intend to create and use.

Zar-Ifkrit is the race/tribe (I think it's an Orc?), and Katib=Lord. So, for example, Katib V-raks Naik of the Zar-Ifrikt (Or, in base tongue, Lord V-raks Naik of the Zar-Ifrikt.).

Sounds nasty, I like it! I may very well use that unless you have more ideas you'd like to pitch to give me hand, I'd still appreciate it. I should also mention, your idea is very cool and I would have never thought of it!

Are those lands canon or more considered to be something like tales of those lands? I'm just thinking that it might be good if the canon game world is extended in a controlled way (such as when Varlyrio was described by being the winning entry in the fifth guild challenge) so that players don't start introducing too much content outside Historica in ways which should have impacts on Historica?

I know however that I've used characters from "islands in the southern sea" so I guess I'm kind of guilty of that too

Anyways, there's still plenty of room in Historica to for example create another city-state in Kaliphlin or county in Avalonia so I think that should be very welcome! Adding new islands around Kaliphlin sounds like a reasonable way of adding such new entities as well, especially if they claim to be quite independent from the Petraean rule.

Just a note to new players that very substantial claims of representing great empires or the like may be frowned upon as empty boasting by some residents of Historica

I don't know whether that would also make my tribe I intend on making to be like that but I'm thinking of them being isolated, greedy, and merciless apart from being independent but do serve Kaliphlin when it's in time of need. So they [my tribe] are practically just pompous towards outsiders.

Sounds like a perfect addition to the Kaliphlin peoples! Their isolationism is probably why we've heard so little of them until now?

Indeed! Now that gave me a pretty good back story as to why my tribe was nothing more than rumors and talk of old stories until recently.

I think DM's guilds are not cannon per se, but we acknowledge that something exists. I agree, too many people creating outside areas would hurt the overall control over the story. I think because DM was one of the first wave, he is grandfathered into the story.

Sounds Exciting.... So how strong is your army? Or is that.

Okay, so what do you suggest?

As much as I would like to say they're strong, I just can't. I've revealed too little information on them that no judgments can be made yet but they are ruthless fighters, perceptively strong and since they inhabit a tough region, they can endure the harshest conditions the average being can't. Does this mean they are immortal? No, they are just hard to break.

My comments were more intended for Aranethon, as you are talking about building a town and a people within Kaliphlin borders, the idea of far away guilds does not really apply.

My bad, I did not realize.

So where would an ideal location be for moi?

Gosh, so much activity! Welcome Aranethon and Behemoth! :classic:

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've posted here. Some may remember that I sought to build a city in Kaliphlin. I plan to make it Neo-Byzantine in style, a relic of a long-gone empire. It shall be ruled by a certain House Veran. All I wish is to gain permission to:

1) centre it's style solely on roman Byzantine architectures and minifigures

2) assert it as a major trading capital and size enough to rival Petraea itself

3) create a government almost independent from the guild of Kaliphlin, under The Lord Imperator Aurelius Veran

Gosh, you are aiming high! Good to see. :classic: All this talk of rivalry sounds interesting, especially naval rivalry. As DM says, you might want put a good distance between your city and both Berigora and Mpya Stedor, they are both already well established naval powers with extensive trade interests. I look forward to seeing some of your Byzantine-inspired city!

Ooooooo! :oh::oh3: Is this mystery island related to the spies that have infiltrated both armies in the Withers Wood battle by any chance?

Just a note to new players that very substantial claims of representing great empires or the like may be frowned upon as empty boasting by some residents of Historica

Or you could establish an empire in Mitgardia, which is 99% empty boasting! (Just kidding, northern friends! You like this kind of joshing, right? )

Out of curiosity, is the region in the mountains inhabited by a lot of people? And is a non-human race, like an Orc, welcome? Though, I was considering calling it the Blood Elves or something cool but I don't know, any ideas?

My understanding of the Rakath ranges is that whilst it is not heavily populated, there are quite a few pockets of towns, settlements and fortresses that dot the region, especially in the south and on the coast. Besides the Nestlands and Mpya Stedor, i know DragonsandFlagons fortress is down there somewhere, as is the mountain mummies ancestral lands. I also plan to place Zaid Parsel's (a new tertiary character of mine) fortress down there somewhere in the future as well. North of Qarkyr, there are a couple of coastal settlements who's names escape me, as well as the headquarters of the Rakath Assasians, although only a very few know the location of that for sure.

In the southern sea there are some islands, but the sea is treacherous. Gabe set one of his Book 1 challenge builds there: Quest for the water crystal - The isle with no name.

Although technically that was actually a giant sea turtle that had an enchantment placed on it, which was broken when the crystal in it's belly was stolen. (I feel quite sad that i never finished that story...)

Yeah I feel every time we get a city on the east side of the Rakath Mountains, the builder disappears.

Yeah, sad but true.. :sadnew: Although i guess most of us have had a hiatus from GoH at some stage or another, so hopefully they will return. :classic:

So where would an ideal location be for moi?

Depends on what you want to build! Pick a place and just jump right in, that's my advice. :classic:

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Thanks for the advice too, I'll look for a great spot and start off there! :sweet:
