Yzalirk Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I guess it is time to redo the roster, with one of our members retiring. So, if you are active and not on the first couple post's lists, then please speak up now. Also, tell me how many main challenges you participated in. TUB, when is your anniversary date for joining? I know you moved to the second tier because of participation. I guess that would also include me. I haven't participated in any main challenges (yet) but I have two entries up for the Free Build so far. Quote
Scaevola Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 That would include me as well. I also have not participated in any of the main challenges. Quote

And can someone post a picture of a Uruk Hai minifig with plan dark brown legs? I might make my army look like that but I kind of want to see a picture of how it would look like first. Yzalirk Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 My first GoH MOC: Free build: A Modest Homestead Great first build. My only dislike are those little saplings next to the house. I elaborated a bit more on it but it's just a very tiny minor detail that could be changed. And if anyone can do the picture thing with the Uruk Hai minifig, I'd appreciate it! Quote
robuko Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 SarahJoy, can I build a trading post in Ruadh please? Just a little one. Quote
Maxim I Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 SarahJoy, can I build a trading post in Ruadh please? Just a little one. Hey, MAESTRO wants a trading post there as well :p Oh, now I think about it, PGTC & GEAR will have a stockage room in Stedor. There is still one spot free for a Kaliphlin trading organisation. Is there a major trade organistion I am forgetting? Also, does the PGTC has a herald? :) About the namechange: With using my real name and the first letter of my last name, I am hoping to do my hobby in a more professional way :) The maximunus made me really laugh :p Quote

I'll try to figure it out. EDIT: I started on Jan 16 this year. The Avalonian and Nocturnian Civil Wars were main challenges but the others were not (main challenges usually have a title stating the book and challenge numbers, such as Book II Challenge II - Avalonian civil war ). The main products for outside trade are: weapons and metal ores, paints and dry pigments, and intricately woven cloth in vibrant colors. I'd be delighted to have your trading posts in Ruadh! A general trading company is always practical. Our artists will need materials like metal ores, paints and dry pigments, and luxury cloth fit nicely with the artisan theme. I have a very rough map of the of what I've planned for the settlement, including this part with an area for artisan shops. I'm imagining the builds to be roughly the size of Kai's music store (it looks like the building itself is 16x16, but that's only a loose guideline, and doesn't include space around the shop). Let me know if you'd like to be in that area. If you want to do a larger build, I can put you off to the right, across the pathway. Would it be all right with y'all if I counted your trading posts for HSS requirements? edited to add: Ruadh is a dry, dusty place, with little natural vegetation. However, we do have fountains, and raised flower beds. Most of the buildings are from native stone. There is no distinct architectural style, as our residents come from across Historica and bring their own visions of Kaliphlinite architecture. They often incorporate details and materials from their homelands into their builds. Do what you want, and have fun! Edited August 15, 2014 by SarahJoy Quote

Kai NRG Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I'm slaving away over my Mount Up! build... I've got a habitat I'm really happy with, but don't know about the actual creature... how does a purple dino sound? ... I do have another small vig base that ended up as a miss-fire for a different scene. I'll probably photograph that tomorrow. So there should be a couple more free-builds from me soon! Quote

It's an interesting idea but it would be better if it had the colors of it's natural habitat. So a swamp with irregular colors could work. I mean, you don't want to have your mount looking like Barney now, would you? Quote

Actually I would think a purple dino's habitat would be more of a very brightly colored forest/meadow type thing with lots of brightly colored flora (not current habitat, though I could add some flowers easily and was thinking about it). I hadn't even thought of Barney, but you know Apatosaurus and those sort of things are sometimes shown in a darkish purple color (actually purple was about the only color available... thus the inspiration). Sweet, it's always great to see people who want to join Kaliphlin! Just get your sig-fig up along with a description and you'll be an official member, at least that's what happened with me. Also, anyone know any good armor combinations for a "white" Elf race? I was thinking the BrickWarriors' Muscled Cuirass and the Spartan Helmet. Any other thoughts though? I like the sound of purple as an accent colour, although it's sad that the range of purples in Lego is so limited. Lavender/dark orange and tan could be a goer, or dark purple/olive and tan? Idk. The belly is usually a lighter colour, so maybe make that more neutral and have the brighter accents on the back. Looking forward to seeing your free-builds too! I have got my beast for the mount up challenge 90% done, i've just got to give it a habitat now. I'm going to try to get that up in the next week. Hello everyone. I hope to join Kaliphlin soon. I have been a long term lurker since book 1, I have always enjoyed Kaliphlin the most. Welcome to the best guild Jdw! (I'm going to abbreviate your username to that, if that's ok? ) Looking forward to you character and backstory! Alright, thanks MK. And can you do one more with plain dark brown legs compared with the regular one? Hey Behemoth, this is possibly getting a little too off-topic for the guild thread - perhaps there are better places for this convo, like the Minifig Customisation Workshop? Of course, if you post figs and ask for feedback that's perfectly fine, but we really don't want to clog up this thread with endless requests to see specific minifig combos. Thanks! Quote

I understand what you mean, but I'm asking to see what it would look like. I'm deciding whether I just want the full Uruk Hai minifig or use them but with plain dark brown legs. That way, I'll get a better understanding as to how I'll make my future Kaliphlin sig-fig and troops. Quote

I understand where you are coming from as well, but what i am saying is, there are other, more appropriate forums where you can ask detailed advice about minifig combos etc. You don't have to run every single small decision you make with your mocs, figs and storylines through this thread, if you do, it will just get overwhelming for everyone else. This is not the place for 5 posts nitpicking over whether or not to make your orcs' legs reddish brown or dark brown, for instance. Gosh, you could just make one yourself and see if you like it - easy enough to add a couple of legs into your latest BL order. Quote
