Yzalirk Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I understand where you are coming from as well, but what i am saying is, there are other, more appropriate forums where you can ask detailed advice about minifig combos etc. You don't have to run every single small decision you make with your mocs, figs and storylines through this thread, if you do, it will just get overwhelming for everyone else. This is not the place for 5 posts nitpicking over whether or not to make your orcs' legs reddish brown or dark brown, for instance. Gosh, you could just make one yourself and see if you like it - easy enough to add a couple of legs into your latest BL order. I'll ask there then.... But that's the problem, I'll be ordering 30 minifigs and I'd like to see if they'd look better or now with the plain dark brown legs or not so I don't waste money that could have easily been put towards actual parts. And like I've said weeks ago, I'm on a budget of about $400 and I'll be ordering from the US to Germany, so it'll get quite expensive, sheesh. Quote

Why are you looking for shops in the U.S.? The overseashippingcosts are way to high to be interesting :( Quote
jdw88311171982 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Gabe, feel more then free to abbreviate my name. :) I have a moc I am working on for Kaliphlin. I am trying to get my 10 post without bothering everyone. I hope to have sig vig and back story posted today. Working 7days a week, parenting, and gardening cuts into my building time :P. Quote
jdw88311171982 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 What I am planning on is a 32x32 stud moc, that follows the evolution of the site as it is built up. Like sig fig arrives at his land, homestead ect., with livestock and supplies and must develop water harvesting systems, soil rehabilitation, and shelter. I hope to depict the difficulty of establishing a settlement in a arid environment. I may expand it to 48x48 studs in time, but I have another 48x48stud and a 96x224 stud mocs that have been working on for about 2 years and want change of pace. Anyway I hope to start posting/joining soon. Quote
Bregir Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I like the idea of developing the same site in one, expanding/developing mod! :) And I like that you seem to be taking a practical, civilian perspective, with the practical challenges. Makes me wonder if GoH and especially Kaliphlin ever had aqueducts! Quote
robuko Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Bregir, Yes! I was looking at some old Roman acqueducts yesterday and I decided I am going to build an ancient ruined one. Jdw, sounds like a superb idea! Quote
gedren_y Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Yes, Kaliphlin has had aqueducts. Someone did a MOC of it some time ago. Quote
-Horizon- Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Yes, Kaliphlin has had aqueducts. Someone did a MOC of it some time ago. Ska has done one, and Kai has also done one. Quote

Yzalirk Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Wait a minute, you are from Germany? Why are you looking for shops in the U.S.? The overseashippingcosts are way to high to be interesting :( No, I'm from the United States. Some parts I'm looking to buy aren't in great bulks in the United States and some parts are mostly in Germany. I'd love to buy everything within the States but a lot of the stores aren't that great when it comes to a lot of pieces. It seems most United States stores on BrickLink have variety over quantity of pieces. Unless you know of some good stores that would make me think otherwise..! Quote
gedren_y Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 You just have to change the parameters on Bricklink from Best Price to Highest Quantity. And you can filter by country, or even just region, by clicking show more filter options. A quick search gave me the US store Queen Creek Bricks for quantity Uruk-hai parts. The dark red heads are $0.89 a piece, with 276 in stock. Quote

EDIT: Also, for those of you whom are using yellow fleshed heads, what head would you use that is light fleshed? So I may incorporate you in some of my future builds! Kayne Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I must say, I'm not sure I fit in here in Kali....with all of the chatter going on, and how little I seem to comment I feel like a lurker! All kidding aside, I am back from several weeks of vacations out of town and will be back to full access. Also have started a couple of builds that I am hoping to find the time to wrap up soon. Quote
BrickCurve Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) I would really like to join kaliphlin, but i don't know where to put the short description of my character. Could someone help me out with that please. Edited August 17, 2014 by BrickCurve Quote
robuko Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Welcome to Kaliphlin BrickCurve! Grab a tankard of mead and tell us your story - this thread is the right place to post it. Great to have you join us! Quote
BrickCurve Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) A description of my character. A wanderer in the wilds of Kaliphlin, especially near the coasts, forests and islands. (my first moc for kaliphlin is planned to be on an island) Oh and how do you get the Kaliphlin shield on your profile? Edited August 17, 2014 by BrickCurve Quote
robuko Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Welcome wanderer! The shield is earned by participating in the main "chapter" challenges. Quote
SkaForHire Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 The shields were awarded after "Book I", we should have something similar for Book 2. On another random note -- As I prepare builds for our upcoming challenge, I am probably going to have a MOC of the first full meeting of the High Lords Council of Kaliphlin, along with invited minor lords. Does anyone not want included? I will try to represent the figs as close as possible. Quote

I've been limited to only talking about brick-related stuff for 2 months, but now I'm back with my bricks expect less chatter and (hopefully) more building from me Despite being one-handed I've at least managed to sort my lighthouse (including several thousands of trans clear/light blue/dark blue 1x1 round plates...) and reorganized my tan/dark tan/medium dark flesh sorting (don't know where to keep black now however ). Top priority right now is to build my Kaliphlin build for LFW in September, which is planned to be a section of a street in Barqa (with inspiration from Kabel's town) and maybe fill a couple of HSS categories.
