Thanks for the congrats everyone!

Congrats Mike and enjoy sleep as long as you have it!

Sleep? The baby came at 2:22 in the morning so didn't get hardly any sleep yesterday. I thought I would get to sleep in a bit today and catch up but my 3 year old son wakes me up @ 7 this morning- "Time to wake up Daddy!"

That's 18 years of trouble, and you guys are congratulating him?!? :P

Nah, kids are a blast especially once they can communicate with you. However new baby is a girl so... :look::laugh: Anyway, both my wife and I were actually hoping for a girl this time around (especially me since two kids is my limit and if it had been a boy I'm sure my wife would have wanted to try again for a girl)

Just think, Mike, in thirteen years you'll have two teenagers at the same time.

Well, as long as we have common interests (like Lego) that sort of "connects" us, I think the teen years should not be that bad. :classic: From my observations, the parents that have the trouble with their teen kids are the parents that have nothing in common with their kids. But like everything else, there are a lot of random factors involved, so one can only hope for the best. A lot of parents though dread the idea of having two kids in college at the same time...

how come you're still in High School being 19 years old?

Talking too much in class?

@Behemoth, sorry, this one was too easy

Where I live, the school system is different so I went to school a bit older than most districts and I did get in trouble, past three years in a row, for causing fights both years in Middle School and my Freshman year but I'd rather not gloat about it because it's off-topic and I'd rather not get into my personal life. I also need to fix my age, I put the wrong year and I can't believe I never caught that. Add that to the embarrassment list.

Anyways, I did get my BrickWarriors' stuff today and I love the accessories, they look awesome and they look like they'll fit in well with my Orcs. On the other hand, I guess I didn't pay for the BrickLink things so I just payed for them now so they should come next week. What can I say, I forgot to check my email.

Also, I feel like I should ask, that Avalonian Task for Historica Settlements is open to all GoH members, right? Once my orders arrive, I will also participate in that, if I can.

Thank you all for such great constructive criticism! :classic:

Mike, congrats on your newest family member!

So what I need is for those who wish it to volunteer to build and I will send you a PM to discuss what you can build, and what needs built for the overall stroryline (everyone will have some leeway of course). I am not going to tell anyone the overall story so that most everyone is surprised when it all gets posted.

I'm up for a small build, if it's not too late!

Yup, HSS is open for everyone :) right now, only Kabel has an official port. I hope to have the status of "City" for Stedor approved soon :)

Mme. Celeste Delivers Bad News

Y'all's suggestions to add vegetation and more colors improved the look of the build significantly. Part of me wishes I'd rebuilt the problem areas, but I'm over this build. The next build will provide another opportunity to work on studs-up rocks, so there's no point in agonizing over this one any more. I wish I could take y'all's suggestion to set it aside for a bit, and work on something else, but this represents the bulk of my tan bricks!

Edit: Claiming UoP DoH credit for Architecture: Roofing and Architecture: Round Walls, for those that would like to vote on it.

Mike, congratulations! Be careful, I also said 2 was my limit. We had a girl, then a boy......then a boy and then a girl. Not sure how that happened, but my 2 turned into 4 really quick!

Sarah, that turned out nice! I can relate to the feeling of being over the build. I started a build right after Challenge 2 and now have not touched it in 3 weeks. I have lost all inspiration. I think I will tear it down and start over with something different to get inspired again.

I agree. And hopefully you'll have LEGO connecting you. I know I have a lot of fun building with my son. He's actually a lot more creative than I am. Congrats!

haha, look what you got there under your profile, and those Nocturnians too!

Thank you for the new tag, I think it's perfect, it has pretty much the same colors of Avalonia!!!!! :sweet:

Building with LEGO seems to be one of the very few things that keeps me out of trouble but my parents always argue that I'm too old for them but everyone will always have a different opinion on different things so I'm used to the fact they argue that. So that's why it's hard for me to expand my collection with the newer and more unique parts I was never able to get when I was younger.

Anyways, it seems like everyone seems to show off a map with the location of their city, I was thinking of doing the same. Can anyone maybe PM me a picture of just the Kaliphlin map and I could possibly choose a set location for my city?

I marked the location on one of the maps for a location I'd like. It's the semi-transparent red circle along the Red River.

Let me know if I have to change the location if I can't use that small area. :classic:

I don't think anyone is currently there, but I know someone (can't remember who) has put another city on the Red River, and it might have been at that small lake. Also, I know Kayne has something in the Wither Woods. Eastgate's influence stretches about to that point on the river also, but that doesn't mean there isn't overlap.

I have some Elven settlements deep in the wither woods, but not on the river there, so I am all good with Behemoth taking that area. I also seem to recall someone being near that small lake on the river, but can't recall who

ah okay, didn't know you alread had a kid. Well, guess than you know everything about sleep depriviation ...

Yes my first kid was what got me back into Lego. I hadn't been in a toy isle for years, but when my wife was pregnant with our first child we were looking at kid's stuff and I happened upon Atlantis sets discounted at 50% off. All of a sudden all my good memories of my Lego during childhood returned and I determined that Lego was a pasttime I would share with my son. Not only is Lego fun but it is educational as well and when my son gets old enough, I plan to introduce him to Lego robotics.

Congratz Mike!! I am sure you will be a great parent for her as well :)

Well, a lot of people don't realize what an educational and versatile medium Lego is. If an adult gives you too much trouble about liking Lego, just point them to Nathan Sawaya; heck even David Beckham has put a Lego set or two together in his adulthood.

As for your map placement, while it may not be taken, I think I remember you wanting an isolated location for your orcs. If so, I don't think along the red river would be the most isolated of places with all the Avalonian/Kaliphlin merchants traveling the river between Eastgate and Avalonia... Other than that I would say it is a fine location...

I just took a second glance at the map and noticed a place I could potentially use and it is isolated, like I wanted, that looks good to use, let me post it below.

Light Red indicates where the Zar-Ifrikt has explored.

Darker Red indicates where they live/inhabit as well as most populated in.

If that is too much owned area, I'll gladly update the map to one owned island by editing the post.
