NiceMarmot Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I'll add to the UoP list: Tunnel Recon - for my 3rd tree (needs 2 votes) Farming Bees - for flowers & dense foliage (needs 2 votes) Thanks guys--can't wait for the Kali challenge to start! Not that you need another vote, but +1 for both! I will be checking my phone all day to see the start of the Kali challenge. The build-up has been fantastic! Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Hey Ska, would it be okay to include you in a build with my civil war character? They'll be signing an alliance, since you will be the leader of the High Council I assume? That is fine. Not that you need another vote, but +1 for both! I will be checking my phone all day to see the start of the Kali challenge. The build-up has been fantastic! I am slow building the second to last build (the final build and chapter are ready) I think the prelude will have to continue into the week, but I will post the Category a and b challenge page today, and then the c challenge should follow shortly, but maybe tomorrow. Just really busy with work today. Quote
Adair Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Kaliphlin has my Blade. I know, I don't look very impressive. Let's just say I'm having some technical difficulties.... I'll figure it out soon. My character goes by the same name as myself, and I'll get a Pic of him as soon as I post my Intro, or when I get my BL order. In any case... I assume I go to the recent challenge thread, or whatever you call them here, to declare myself in the civil war? I guess since I wasn't able to make an account in time to pre-register then there's no hurry... I hope the Council Faction isn't over-crowded... Quote
mrcp6d Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 UoP +1 for both builds +1 UoP for both builds. Not that you need another vote, but +1 for both! Thanks folks, now on to the challenge! Quote

I can understand your issue since I'm basically in the same predicament. I'm ordering things soon as well to actually have my sig-fig and soldiers. As for now, you could briefly describe your character and get up a picture later on. I don't see a problem with that. And yes, for the civil war you choose the faction you wish to fight for in the main thread. Also, the preregister was I think for people who were in Kaliphlin for a while and those with certain tags, I think. Quote

So my rush was for nothing. :P I was planning on joining around the end of the month, but this challenge rushed things. As it were, do you have any idea why EB won't let me get to my profile so I can upload a Pic? I'm trying to get ten posts (as a quick glance at the forum main page will show), just in case. Any ideas? <center><i>My character, by the name of Adair, is a young inhabitant of Berigora. SarahJoy Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Welcome, Adair! i believe you need to post a sigfig before you're officially joined. That said, we're pleased to have you, and I look forward to reading more of your story! 10 posts is the magic number, as I recall, when you can edit your profile. Quote
robuko Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Welcome Adair, great to have you with us! Nice story for your character and I look forward to seeing how he develops. Gabe is the lord of Berigora, so please be sure to check with him before making any major changes to the city It takes a while to get used to the Eurobricks interface but you can always go back and edit your posts to clean them up. gedren_y Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 @ Adair: Welcome to Hisorica. Joining Kaliphlin at this moment is a good move. EB uses BBCode, which uses brackets. At the top left of post box is a light switch. It allows you to turn on and off the the BBCode input controls. Using this switch after you have used an input control allows you to view the code, and make edits to the code (for text links). Quote
Yzalirk Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Speaking of which, I should find out if I should post my new backstory for my new and final character. I really do want to use him for the challenge and no longer want to worry about getting him up. It's odd that not many people have Dwarf sig-figs. I just hope my interpretation of Dwarves doesn't "upset" people. Quote

Welcome to the guild, just sign up for the Council, don't worry about it being too crowded, you are in our guild, so I will make sure you get first choice for our challenge. As Robuko said, Gabe is the lord of Berigora, but anyone can build there. If you want to be a lord of your own town, then there are a couple vacant sites on the map or you can create a new one. If you have no problem being a "lord at large" in Kaliphlin, and are OK not having the final say in a city, Berigora is a great place to be! Quote
Basiliscus Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I just wanted to say that the Kaliphlin civil war challenge is awesome! Great work to everyone, but especially SkaForHire for creating and organising. The story has been great and there's been some unique concepts (I sense that your wargaming background was to thank for that). Sadly I am not able to build right now, but wanted to wish you all the best. The Emir of Gorr would probably have sided with Ulandus, so I'll be rooting for them! Quote
Garmadon Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I would appreciate it if someone could approve a couple of UoP credits for: AoM Barracks Phase I - Sparring - flowers and dense foilage (missing one credit) and [GNAR] IceStorm - shipping by sea (also missing one). Quote
Mike S Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Sadly I am not able to build right now, but wanted to wish you all the best. The Emir of Gorr would probably have sided with Ulandus, so I'll be rooting for them! That would make Gorr at least 67% pro Ulandus. I wonder which side the leaders of Samrd'dha would take being sandwiched between pro Ulandus cities? Quote
Adair Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Thanks everyone for your welcome! @SarahJoy: Thanks! The reason I have not posted a Pic of my Sig-fig yet is because I haven't gotten ,my BL order, but hopefully it should come within the week. And yes, I commented on a bunch of builds from a random Mitgardian to get those Magic posts, a random Mitgardian I know well on MP that is. I may not be able to post my Intro for a few weeks if I move on to the finals of MELO, but from the looks of thing I'll probably just get 3rd/4th place, so that shouldn't be a problem. @Robuko: I'll try and make sure to do that, though he will leave Berigora in my Intro. Is there any way I could contact him for sure? Someway I could get to his email or something? And yes, I'll probably edit it eventually, though when is in question. @ gedren_y: Thank you! I'll keep that in mind! @SkaForHire: Thank you! My character is far from a Lord though... I could change that eventually though. Quote

As for contacting Gabe, I think he may be incommunicado at the moment. This happens from time to time, as he is pretty busy I think. He will be back I am sure, and for now, you could try sending him a PM or just build and not make any major changes to the city's storyline (don't change the ruler, burn down the city, convert it to a gnome-worshiping theocracy, etc...) Maxim I Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 What????? I just planned to put myself as leader of Berigora :( Just kidding, but the best thing is indeed sending a pm as most people get an e-mail of EB with the message :) I am so happy to hear from you Basilicus!!!!!! I hope you find some time in the future to tell us more again about Gorr and its wonderfull people :) Quote
Yzalirk Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 But Gnome-worshiping theocracies are awesome, Ska! I hope you don't mind but later I'll try to be posting this huge back story for my new character, who will be a Dwarf by the way. I'll try to keep it more lore-friendlier compared to my last sig-fig who, let's be honest here, was a flop. This time around, I hope to influence people that Dwarves are not to be messed with and their strategies for things are complicated to Humans and Elves. That's why I will be asking someone later, which will most likely be you Ska, for your opinion on things. I'm a man of science and so are Dwarves... for the most part. Or they either mine and tinker with things. I don't want to stick with the standard Dwarves from the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings even though Gimli is a badass Dwarf. Nonetheless, I hope to represent Dwarves in a manor that people respect them more. Quote
Adair Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 @ Ska: All I planned was that the city was overrun by rather arrogant Ulanders and that a Mitgardian merchant lived there. As long as there is nothing wrong with that then I think I'm ok. Quote
Basiliscus Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) That would make Gorr at least 67% pro Ulandus. I wonder which side the leaders of Samrd'dha would take being sandwiched between pro Ulandus cities? The Emir of Gorr rules Stone Town at the North of the island. Unfortunately, he cannot participate in this war, but he hopes he can offer moral support. Wahil is still advising him, but cannot force him to war. Thank you for the kind words, but the challenge being good enough to draw you out from the lurking state to post that is thanks enough! I am sorry that you won't be participating, however, if you have any ideas you can always shoot them my way and I can see if I can get them incorporated. I don't have any ideas at this stage, but I'm hoping to be more active and help to approve any entries which require to have their build quality verified as per the challenge rules. You've all done a great job with this challenge, and it's shaping up to be the best yet! I am so happy to hear from you Basilicus!!!!!! I hope you find some time in the future to tell us more again about Gorr and its wonderfull people :) Thanks Maxim. I've been watching your Mypa Stedor builds with some interest, I'm hoping that soon I'll have a bit more Lego space and can keep up big builds like that for a prolonged period. Even though you are supporting the High Council ( ), I'm sure we still want the best for Kaliphlin! Don't worry, Gorr isn't gone forever, just maybe until 2016. Yzalirk Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Get to work then! :) Was that addressed to me..? Quote
Adair Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 @Ska: While my BL order with my Sig-fig's pieces won't arrive till the end of the week/beginning of next week, would it be allowable for me to post a prelude to my Intro using a side character (and a liberal distribution of hoods)? That would allow me to start posting sooner and (if allowable) get a build in for the mini-challenge. Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Adair, you can being posting now. We can wait for the sigfig. You also don't need to use your sig fig in builds, that is up to you. So you could do a challenge build without him. Quote
