Maxim I Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Thank you. I was just wondering if there was some rule I was overlooking. I'll probably post within the week then. There is this ancient rule you have to put some red and blue in your builds :) but honestley, that rule is already forgotten by most members :p Quote

gedren_y Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 In the beginning there was only one time you were expected to fly your chosen guild's colors, and that was in your introduction. The flag flying was intended to be a statement of allegiance. Quote
Yzalirk Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Hey guys, I want to introduce my new character so expect a back story for him in a short while. I'll also be ordering my minifigs soon, for this challenge. I might have to make adjustments so I can also buy some bricks that I can use for backgrounds but the minifigs I plan to use are quite expensive, especially for Dwarves! I want to prove myself to you guys despite all of us not fighting under the same banner. I also hate how I hardly ever build but I plan to have about three a week, mainly for the challenges. Quote
Yzalirk Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Here are the details for my character, Name: Mhinak (may change) Race: Dwarf Age: 40 years old Religion: Similar to Atheism Birth Place: Mitgardia Back Story/Biography - Mhinak is a Dwarf born in Mitgardia who moved to Kaliphlin when he was 20 years old to study astronomy but also to become a skilled metalworker, tinkerer, and craftsman. Overall, he's a very intelligent Dwarf. He's also become fascinated with the Dwarven Oil Industry in Kaliphlin. Some may question his belief that Science is more powerful than the will of any God. He is a strong supporter of the Dwarven Imperialists, who believe in peace, order, and equality to Dwarves. He has had hardly any military experience though, but has forged swords. He's also began to forge other things, like Dwarven constructs and automatons, Dwarven strong-arms, cogs and gears, and some other things. And because of the Dwarven Oil Industry, he believes the oil can make his creations work, he has yet to test the theories. Overall, he is a charismatic character, mainly among other Dwarves. He's become involved with Dwarven politics, especially those that affect the Dwarven military. He's been tasked to forge weapons, for the most part. He's become respected by his peers and has invested in the Dwarven military and various trading companies and other industries. He also plans to one day have his own company that produces goods in the name of Science that can benefit the lives of many people. He's hardly had interactions with those who are not Dwarves. He finds Humans and Elves to be rather arrogant, from old stories he's read. It should also be noted that he would be considered a middle-class citizen and whatever extra gold he has laying around is what he invests with. Thought on Current Situation in Kaliphlin - He loves Kaliphlin, so you'd expect for him to support the High Council, but no. He supports trade with Avalonia and Mitgardia, especially since he's a Mitgardia-born Dwarf. He believes Kaliphlin should be protected by various Legions. That way, there's more protection and more organization. Mhinak also supports the fact that Ulandus wants to be reunited with Kaliphlin. Even though he may not be the best fighter, he'll do whatever he needs to do to support Ulandus. Even if he has to train to become a good swordsman, he will do that. But technology can help win wars along with the aid of Dwarves. That is all I have so far and I do plan to expand of more about my character since I know I'll have more to contribute to the backstory of him. I hope you guys like it so far and if you want to share any thoughts on it, feel free if you'd like. Quote
Basiliscus Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Nice intro Goliath! Good choice in supporting Ulandus, the Emir approves of your choice! Looking forward to your contributions. Quote
Bregir Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Looks interesting, Goliath - looking forward to seeing what efforts Mhinak will put into the war - mayhaps we shall even face each other in battle! Quote
Basiliscus Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) I mentioned to SkaForHire on Flickr, but in my enforced Lego absence, I've been playing a lot of a game called Endless Legend. One of the factions is called the "Roving Clans", and it would fit perfectly into the Kalpihlin style. A Google image search for "endless legend roving clans" will get you lots of nice images, and a couple are included below to give you an idea. Hope this might help those lacking inspiration! Yzalirk Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Nice intro Goliath! Good choice in supporting Ulandus, the Emir approves of your choice! Looking forward to your contributions. Thanks! I may be adding more to it and changing a few things around but I just hope I gave the general point across with the introduction. I love how Ulandus works and I support their ideas strongly hence I signed-up for them first. A friend of Ulandus is a friend to me. I also like the first picture a lot from that game! Looks interesting, Goliath - looking forward to seeing what efforts Mhinak will put into the war - mayhaps we shall even face each other in battle! I will indeed make it interesting since I didn't want to go with the stereotypical heroic swordsman who is rich and famous. I'm glad you like the approach I'm taking and hopefully Mhinak can become a good swordsman. If not, I wonder how good of a commander he could be. Quote
de Gothia Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Just wanted to say how great this challenge is! So much effort of thinking up the play and all the wonderful mocs created for the prelude! Bravo Kaliphlin! Quote
Gabe Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Oh hey everyone, sorry i've been away so long! Work has been pretty punishing to my schedule and it's been hard to find time to myself when i haven't been exhausted. Great to see the Kaliphlin challenge up and running - the wargames look really exciting! I better sign up i guess. I might become a bit sporadic if work gets hectic again, but i'll try to stay active if i can. Oh and welcome to Kaliphlin Adair! Berigoria welcomes you. ps. Oh hey, just noticed that i have a new title now! Sweet! Quote

Elostirion Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Good evening, I want to sign up for Kaliphin. I've been following GoH for a while now (silently), and when I was still wondering if Kaliphin was the right choice or not, the recent civil war events have convinced me entirely. While I will start with some contributions to the civil war, I am nonetheless looking forward to creating my personal character, designing a background and introducing it. However I want to take my time to do this properly. For now I hope I can make some nice contributions and raise hte power of Ulandus... Quote

It's also wise for you to support Ulandus as well. Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Welcome to the guild, Elostirion. As you have mentioned, you don't need to use your sig fig in the war at all, but it would be nice to have record of him/her for the guild page :) Quote
robuko Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Welcome Elostirion! The Desert King will show you mercy. Quote
gedren_y Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) While we are on opposite sides in the Civil War Challenge, I welcome you as Kaliphlin. Let us build and present our stories. The end will come, and we will be under one banner again. On another note, my G15 build should be done tomorrow. I plan to make it pretty bloody. Edited March 10, 2015 by gedren_y Quote
Adair Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Ok, so I finally got a Pic. And I'm sorry but I decided to change my main character, but I realized that much of the functions of my previous main character could be embodied in my secondary character. So here it is. Adira Magdeburg, as she is known by, is currently the captain of a small body of High Council militia in the Nestlands region of Eastern Kaliphlin. Magdeburg is not her real name, but the name of her foster-parents, Mitgardian merchants who lived in Berigora. When they were killed by Ulandans, before the outbreak of the civil war, she vowed revenge upon Ulandus and promptly joined the High Council army, through some bribes, and has now worked her way up to the position of captain by means of some connections of her foster-father's.
