"There is an epithet commonly used against me kind, one tha' is viewed with great disgus' an' disdain: a 'troll'. I's me opinion tha' tha gremlin's a troll. Speakin' ta all o' us, evil an' good alike, I pers'nally feel tha' tha' sort o' behavior ough' never ta be rewarded, no mat'er tha price." :sceptic:

"One thing ta keep in min'--if we steal stuff from those who're flailin', then they can't cause problems wi' em later on. O' course, that leaves 'em rather useless against tha kidney-people, but tha's tha price o' makin' things hard on tha rest o' us."

Zarissa hands her 10 gold to Zpilf

...interesting.

Why?

"Ah...thank'ee, lass. Ta answer yer questions, i's ta do with a different angle o' approach tha' we discussed. Both of us have too many doubts about this plan ta put our eggs in tha basket wi' tha rest o' ya."

{Ah, I heard comments of the Telescope, which would leave us in the same boat as the magnifying glass. What of the possibility of the Nephilim killing whomever is being investigated if we are merely working our way down a list?}

Most likely, they will try to kill someone whether there is a list or not, so I don't think it would majorly change anything other than impede our efforts to confirm — as much as one can be confirmed — a Hall-ie core. But If they do decide to kill according to the list, then that could make it easier get a read based on who they didn't kill. WIFOM aside, killing sequentially based on the list would create something of a trackable pattern, so I doubt that they would do that and also risk acting predictably and being seen or being blocked.

"If they hit it tonight, then tha' core don' have a chance ta form--we'll be back ta square one. An' wi' two targets, tha actions'll be split, makin' things even harder ta track. Alternatively, they could wait fer tha opp'rtune time an' strike out o' nowhere ta foul things up--they don' have ta attack every time to disrupt us. I still think, if we go through wi' this, tha' tha list should be kept secret."

"Also, 'm thinkin' tha Telescope migh' be more useful than I firs' though'--does anyone know if it sees who took tha actions, or if it jus' sees tha actions themselves, or jus' tha folks in gen'ral who targeted tha person ya look at? I've been thinkin' tha second, but now I think abou' it some more, I'm startin' ta lean toward tha firs' one...I need ta take a Nap ta thin' abou' this..."

Yes, I know; like I said: it could impede our efforts to form a core if the scum kill according to the list, but it'll still create a pattern. Besides, we have to start somewhere, we have no idea how many Magnifying Glasses were distributed among us, and one hero has already publicly claimed to have a Glass, so we don't know if we have a significantly better option for trying to get investigations going. At least this way we have something to get started and we have the information out in public, which should work in our favor this early in the game when we don't quite know who to trust yet.

No, most heroes catch up, then make a statement that might include something about catching up, so they're making a statement because they have something to add, not because they want to quickly give a reason for being inactive so early in the situation. Hall-ies aren't afraid of looking suspicious, because they have nothing to hide. Especially when it's so early that no one can be accused of inactivity yet, making a statement like yours just shows that you're worried about looking inactive.

I distinctly remember a book called "Yakuza", in which an individual told us at the beginning of the situation not to suspect him because of inactivity because he would be away for a few hours. A character similar to myself pointed that out, and after a lot of flailing the individual was killed and revealed as scum. That's a somewhat more drastic case than yours, but the same principle is there.

Although if I recall correctly, in lots of books I've read, characters similar to yours act like this all the time...

Flailing around and pointless posts often come from inexperienced people like me when they do not understand how to react in the situation they are in, weather they are scum or innocent. And it seems people like me always get killed because scum find it easy to hijack the situation.

"Zo we a-greed to get one glass but meybee wee can get two? There arr enough of uz end it meyks finding those Nefilim that much fazter!" O'Blix turned to Zelphie and Calico with a pouch of 10 gold in front of him. "Four another glass..."

 Then based on my experiences, I must say that it's funny how you seem to know exactly what you're doing wrong and you have a solid explanation behind it, but you don't appear to try to fix it.

Piro wakes up all of a sudden; He'd missed alot. He looks at O'blix giving the gold away and asks "Whet air ya buying goblen?"

[what ere you buying goblin?]

"A mag-nee-fuying glass... To find witch heroz are not hoo they sseem to bee..."

Explaining the issue is the easy part, fixing it is easier said than done.

Skrupp appears suddenly at the back of the group and makes his way over.

"Bloody hell, ya' guys talk a lot. I tried to get back up here as soon as I can, what have I missed?"

The nord listens to the others recounting their words.

"Right, so we're plannin' on passin' aroung this eyeglass as a means of identification? An admirable thought for so early in the day; it may not be perfect, but it might work. May I ask that anyone with any means of protectin' the bloke who carries the glass tonight, do so? Also, it'd be pertinent to not reveal that ya' have the ability, I hope that I don't have to remind ya' of that."

 Then based on my experiences, I must say that it's funny how you seem to know exactly what you're doing wrong and you have a solid explanation behind it, but you don't appear to try to fix it.

"His words speak of excuses, if you ask me. He looks ta' be doin' his best ta' shout out that he's tryin' to help, but when someone asks him 'how exactly are you helpin', mate?', he can always fall back on the 'I don't know what the hell I'm doin', give me a break!' line. Doesn't necessarily make him bad, though, in my experience one like him could also be a lazy bastard. Our best bet is probably seein' how he responds to these accusations, hopefully we can get a better idea of just what he is."

He then turns to the vampire lady, at last.

"Ach, can I just say that I was far from disappointed with yer feats and skills, missy, I felt the stories to be unworthy of the reality of yer kin. You up for round two later on? There's still a few barrels of ale left; and I swear that I have plenty more in me ta' lay you every night from now into the Ragnarok moon."

Explaining the issue is the easy part, fixing it is easier said than done.

"That's an odd thing to say, for sure. Instead of thinking in yer little head of how ta' help, you just come up with words to explain away that ya' can't. Why are ya' so reluctant to try, greenskin? Would helpin' us have any other effect than helpin' you, perhaps?"

Yes, that was my point.

Heron awoke from a deep slumber haunted by nightmares. It was hard to find some rest these days. All those rumors about what was going on in Heroica. This was not what he expected when he joined. He got up and moved to the saloon. "Mind if I take a seat?" He asked the other heroes trying to drown what seemed to be fear.

"Couldn't we use a telescope on the person with the magnifying glass? Or even get 2 magnifying glasses and use them on the person who first used it. That way, unless we give it to two Nephilim, we are able to keep a regulating eye on who uses the glass. Who watches the watchmen or so they say."

EDIT: " Or has this Already been suggested?"

"I think we agreed that those other folks with glasses should use 'em in secret on whoever is holdin' tha' communal one. Protection might also be a good idea, in case of the Nephillum bastards just tryin' to kill 'em off every single night. We won't get anywhere if results have to be got out of a corpse."

"Sorry, I did not hear everything. I just rested but this whole situation is rather confusing. My only hope is that we heroes of Heroica are righteous enough to stop this good thing being destroyed. Nephilim... it sounds like evil. Scheherazade, would you mind bringing me a cup of tea? I need something to calm my nerves."

"Now would be a good time ta' jog yer memory (re-read) and familiarise yerself with our plans. Every angle of view is another one that will help us greatly. Claiming that yer are confused, but without tellin' us by what ain't helpin' anyone, and will likely raise suspicions yer way. Ya' can't use yer just wakin' up as an excuse for not tryin', that's a sure-fire way to get our attentions."

Wow, you guys sure did a lot in a couple of hours.

Wouldn't this not be that relevant since the telescope doesn't show the result but rather the action so the person can still lie?

"Wow dudes. A lot has been going on. Alright my leaves, here's something to feast your ears onto." Scamander plays a quick ditty on his Flute. "Now that I've got your attention, here's something interesting, being a Minstrel, my actions primarily focus on support. Anyone got a suggestion who to support. "

"I'd be careful to keep my abilities closely guarded if I were ya', mate. On this first day it'd be wrong if ya' knew anybody to trust, so I reckon you ought to work out yer own actions until it's clear ya' have someone who ya' can rely on."

He winks.
