NiceMarmot Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) not saying socccerkids waterfall is bad, its awfull... ..lly good but there are others who wrote it before him, check out torgars ch5 entry, or blake bearics rivendell Yes, you're right those are great. I favorited Rivendell when it came out; I'll have to go check it out again. That was a fantastic MOC. EDIT: Here's a link to Blake's Rivendell for anyone who hasn't seen it yet Edited November 7, 2013 by NiceMarmot Quote
mpoh98 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Lovely work here soccerkid6, I can always tell when it is your moc, you have your own unique awesome style. Well done! Quote
Gabe Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 +1 on snotted stonework and waterfall. I'll also give +1 for adv windows, but i would prefer to see something more ambitious being attempted for that catagory. Quote

I think the windows are very nice, but tackling a few more styles would be better. You'll probably cover them in another build! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Lovely work here soccerkid6, I can always tell when it is your moc, you have your own unique awesome style. Well done! Thanks Matthew! I think one of the wonders of LEGO is how distinct each builder's style is +1 on snotted stonework and waterfall. I'll also give +1 for adv windows, but i would prefer to see something more ambitious being attempted for that catagory. The windows use quite a bit of SNOT, especially the ones in the SNOT tower (those actually took me longer than anything else in the build to design) and the ones looking into the caves (though they do look pretty simple). Also one of the windows looking into the caves is set at an angle. I guess some ornate stained glass windows or something like that would probably be a better fit for the DoH category I kind of agree. I think the windows are very nice, but tackling a few more styles would be better. You'll probably cover them in another build! Yeah, I tend to come up with at least one new window design a build, they usually take me longer than most other aspects of the MOC Quote

But yes, the effect is quite simple, even if it wasn't easy to do. In some ways what you have done is quite tricky, using different building styles to achieve much the same effect, but it would be nice to see a window shape or style that *couldn't* be otherwise acheived by normal studs-up building.
