The Joker1 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) Hey everyone, Earlier on today i placed an order with lego.com (UK) buying the Lego Ewok village with free VW camper. I went on to check the order status and for some reason it is saying customer service rather than in process. I have read of this happening on FBTB but the answers all seem a bit vague, So i was just wondering is anyone knew the definitive reason fir this? It doesnt bother me, As long as it doesn't affect the order . Cheers Edited September 1, 2013 by The Joker1 Quote
kermit Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I would suggest calling lego since the order was placed soo recently. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I ordered the Ewok Village today too, my order also says customer service. Hmpf! Quote
Rick Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I think it always says "Customer Service" initially before going to "In Process" and "Shipped". Quote
PocasNuckie Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I think it always says "Customer Service" initially before going to "In Process" and "Shipped". Exactly. There's no problem here but lack of patience. I understand I feel exactly the same when I order LEGO. :p Quote
CF Mitch Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I had this too when ordering the Jedi Defender-class Cruiser. At first I thought it was because it wasn't actually available for shipping to my country.... But after a few days it just turned to 'shipped' or something and a day later it was already on my doorstep Regards, Mitch Quote
The Joker1 Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 Thats great, I was just curious. I will just have to wait and see when it changes. cheers guys. Quote
Brickus Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I think it is because it is a large set and, LEGO customer service has to manually check orders for scalpers. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I placed an order on Saturday for two modulars and online PAB in order to take advantage of triple VIP points and get the holiday set. It has since been sitting in "customer service". After reading posts on here and Brickset, it appears that Lego manually checks all large purchases, or at least purchases on large items. The general concensus is that they are trying to weed out resellers as opposed to people who plan on keeping the sets. With that said, it would seem that the site should use a different term that "customer service". To many people, that would imply that there is a problem with the order and that they need to call Lego. Perhaps, they should use "Order received" or "In process". I did get an email saying that the order was received. One question though: what if you ordered express shipping? Obviously, the whole point of this is to get the item quickly. Would using a shipping option like this put you ahead in the review, or are you essentially throwing your money away as obviously the item will not be shipped until they finally reviewed your order, which could take several days? Another thought: lots of people ordered something last Saturday due to the offer of points and the extra set. With the busy Friday coming up and more offers, it seems like they might have difficulty handling the high volume if they have not even sorted out Saturday's orders with only three days to Friday and a whole new barrage of orders. Faefrost Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 It isn't resellers they are trying to weed out. It is the "drop ship scam". Someone is hand checking to order to make sure that everything lines up, and there are no signs of fraud. Lego and the Lego fan community have been very badly hit by this scam in the past year. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 What is a drop ship scam I hear it all the time here but it's never been explained to me Quote
Lego Otaku Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Drop ship scam: a reseller buys things from LEGO, marks it as gift to be sent to someone else (eBay buyer for example). Often time it goes below retail. Then after a while, maybe a month later the seller (or real owner if seller used stolen credit card) calls CC company and reports it a problem, CC company takes the money away from LEGO while the buyer gets blacklisted unless they pay full retail or return the stuff unopened with original invoice. Seller gets free money, buyer suffers and won't be able to order anything from LEGO, and LEGO has to crack down on any gift stuff to reduce CC fraud. The only way to prevent this is to ship only to billing address but someone's Grandma would have to pay to have LEGO stuff resent to her grandkids. To avoid this, beware of any current LEGO sets that are below retail, and check the box you get. If it has LEGO as from address, call LEGO ASAP and get refund ASAP from the scamming seller. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Thanks for the explanations. It is sad to see people like this ruin it for everyone else. That does seem to put the issue of express shipping in a quandary. What if you ordered a high dollar item and really needed it quickly? Is there a way to somehow bypass the customer service hold and get your item shipped quickly after ordering? Quote

The general concensus is that they are trying to weed out resellers as opposed to people who plan on keeping the sets. Okay, so unless it's a limited edition offering like 41999, why would Lego want to limit the number purchased? I don't care if you buy 200 of the new Parisian Restaurant. If they run out, I can buy it when it's back in stock. On a product without a set, limited run, the more they sell the less scarcity and the lower the secondary market price. Again, I can see protecting real Lego collectors on something like 41999, but why does it matter on most other sets? I deal with resellers all the time because I got into Lego late in life. Glad the resellers are there or I wouldn't have the Taj Mahal or Eiffel Tower. Edited December 3, 2013 by Off the wall Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I'd think they want to only produce a set number of sets to begin with, so if they sell out there will be a time when they aren't producing any more just so they aren't sitting on a lot of back stock (similar to the comic book issue in the 90s, or the CMF issue a few Christmas seasons ago). So LEGO limits orders to a certain number for most people. I didn't realize they manually check the large orders, but that makes sense that it would take so long then. I agree though, if it didn't matter in the long run I wouldn't care if someone ordered multiples of a set, but I'd hate for them to do that and then I miss out on it and HAVE to buy from that reseller that bought them originally. Freddy Bricker Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Ok, so I know this may not be the most appropriate topic to post this in, but I do believe it has some relevance to the status on a Lego item. Recently, I've been very tight on money. And after deciding I wanted to buy some sets from Ninjago 2012, I need to ask a few questions. I want to know when the 2012 wave of sets will get discontinued, usually, I'd assume we'd have till the end of the month, but with a new wave of sets coming out I am worried that TLG will pull down Ninjago 2012 from shelves because they wouldn't want 3 waves running at a time. Last time I went to Target (about 2 weeks ago) the whole 2012 wave was there. But Rebooted has just been put up on shelves and I got some scary feelings about it. After finally being able to go to the Ninjago products page I noticed that the whole page has been updated with characters bio's, videos, and the new sets. I am worried because, the 2012 wave was not there. I want the great devourer (which comes in the Epic Dragon Battle), the Samurai mech, and destiny's bounty, but how long are these expected to be out? I get the feeling this may be the wrong topic to post this in, but I just hope I get some sort of answer. And if you're wondering, the reason I didn't start a new thread is because I don't have a very good track history with making threads. Quote

Getting defrauded on an order worth a lot of money is something they really want to prevent. Quote
