Wedge09 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Here we are: A ruined aqueduct. I built this ruined aqueduct a few days ago and I was inspired by LOTR film Fellowship of the Ring. C&C are always welcome and I hope you enjoy my small work Quote
soccerkid6 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Excellent build Wedge, I like the pillars holding the aqueduct and you captured the ruined feel well (seems like I've said that on some of your other builds too ). The foliage and tree look good too. There are a couple things I think could be improved: the brown works well for dirt, but I don't like how the switch to tan is a perfectly straight line, I think it would look better if some parts of the brown stuck out farther like you did with the tan; the water looks good for the most part, but I think some bubbles foam around where the waterfall hits would improve it Quote
eurotrash Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I'm a huge fan of old and discolored bricks and the way you've used them - dotted sporadically throughout the build - makes this a very effective looking MOC. I also like the SNOT water with it's rocks and plants embedded within in. Nice work! Quote
Maxim I Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Fantastic build!! It really looks aged (thanks to the plates you put between the bricks) The only thing I would improve is to make the earth base a bit more realistic (more variation in it) Quote
jimmynick Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I love the combo of grey and bley, and the trans-blue SNOT water, and the brick-bricks - well, this is just a great MOC all around. The columns do look a little squared-off or "8-bit" - maybe you could include 1x1 round bricks to make rounded towers? Quote
kabel Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 This is really great wedge. Awesome water effect, espicially the waterfall is absolutely stunning! Wegde, you have really outdone yourself with this build! Quote

The columns do look a little squared-off or "8-bit" - maybe you could include 1x1 round bricks to make rounded towers? Thanks jamesn, the squared-off effect is wanted becuase I take inspiration from the dwarf architecture that appears in LOTR movies. This is really great wedge. Awesome water effect, espicially the waterfall is absolutely stunning! Wegde, you have really outdone yourself with this build! Thanks a lot kabel, I'm really happy you like so much my work Quote
de Gothia Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Wow! You have really outdone yourself as Kabel just said! This is really great! I love the idea as well as the result in bricks! Some nitpicks, the straight line between tan and brwon as said before, the water coming done should have som more movement in the sea also said before. I also think you could have som sort of base around the moc. This way you don´t see the blue baseplate underneath the whole moc and the strange effect you get n the snotted water vs the baseplate. Either way, great work mate! Quote
Infernum Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Wow! Great work Wedge! Love the shape of the aqueduct, and the waterfall is great! Quote
HammerBro Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Great work with the water and the ruined look. The one thing that bothers me is the slope of the hill coming away from the water. The landscape is too linear, I think it would look better with some more plates in there to make it look less blocky. It also nice hear your inspiration for this build. Quote

Thanks a lot de Gothia, I'm really happy you like so much my small work About the border around the MOC, I was thinking about but I wasn't able to connect it to the rest of the MOC and rather than making a mess, I preferred to let it go as it is. Thanks HammerBro The plates' idea is good, but for now I don't have many small brown plates Quote
Apple Pi Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Very well done! I love the water snot, it's beautiful! Congrats! Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Love the build. I like that last picture, where you're looking up from water level, it has a cool atmosphere! Quote

Niku Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Lovely one, although no use of arches, I really like the simetrical shape of the columns, the fall of water is well executed too. Quote

TenorPenny Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 It's a great build, with lots of mood about it. I almost want to see the biege/tan done in dark tan, to show the muddy nature of the water. But the tan works, too. Quote

Gideon Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) Even though this is not a "natural waterfall", it is definitely falling water. The only thing i don't fully like with the design is how calm the water is even close to where the falling water hits the still water, but the falling water is well done so I think you still earn a +1 for this. Just remember the physics next time that the energy in that falling water has to go somewhere Edited November 9, 2013 by Gideon Quote
Gabe Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 You certainly have a talent for making clean, appealing mocs - this is prob my favourite of yours! You already have some good advice about introducing more subtle gradations in the earthen river bank, and also putting more movement into the water around the base of the waterfall. I also agree with DeGothia that a border would really improve your presentation on this one. (if you are having problems attaching it, you can simply butt a simple border up against the sides of the moc instead.) Anyway, despite the lack of water movement at the base of the waterfall, i'm really liking the hight and overall layout of this one, so definitely a UP +1 for waterfalls from me! Quote
Tomsche Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I really love the water idea, I think I'm going "to borrow" it one of these days ;-) Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Am I right that you're missing one credit for the waterfall? If so +1 for that! Overall nice build! The brown part of the landscaping is a bit blocky, and as others have said a border would probably improve it but nice job anyways! Quote
