DanSto Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 A fountain as Architecture ?? In fact, it is the front of a building : So, why not. Quote
Herky Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the pic, now if you have any idea of sale date and cost, that would be great, I have to admit I was pretty skeptical of how they would pull off the fountain but they did a good job. Interesting they are using blue for the windows of the building. Following that same trend with Marina Bay and the UN, guess blue is now the new standard for windows in the Arch line Edited January 31, 2014 by Herky Quote
Herky Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 found the article, on this, apparently debuted at the Nuremburg Toy Show, I do not speak German, but here is a pic of the box and the link to the story http://www.promobricks.de/spielwarenmesse-2014-lego-architecture-21020-trevi-brunnen/1618 Quote
Herky Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 From Promo Bricks at: http://www.promobricks.de/spielwarenmesse-2014-lego-architecture-21020-trevi-brunnen/1618 Jan 30 Nuremburg Toy Show revealed the next Architecture line product of the Trevi Fountain. I do not read German so not sure if this says date but I see a part of a price of 49.99 euros I think.
CM4Sci Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 This is already being talked about in the Architecture 2014 thread. -Sci Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I had never heard of that building or fountain before, but this looks beautiful! I will definitely pick this up sometime in the future. Quote
Herky Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 yes, but that is a thread for the whole year, not just one product, I just started this as a product thread. Maybe I missed it, but this is done quite a bit on a lot of forums and threads. You have the main Lego movie thread and then a thread for each product. If you want to change all that fine, but someone needs to communicate that. Quote
rollermonkey Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) So disappointed in this. I had hoped they would have done something that was actually about architecture. Trevi Fountain is beautiful as sculpture, and not really important as architecture. The real location is all about the amazing detail everywhere, from the columns and friezes to the rails and statuary. For that reason, it doesn't work for me, at least at this scale. Also, for authenticity, it needs about 3,000 mini figs crammed together, all with cameras, and trying to get down the terraces to throw coins in. Oh, and pickpockets working the crowd. Yeah. It's pretty, but one of the worst tourist attractions because of its popularity. If you've ever wanted a bunch of 1x1 Trans blue bricks, though... ;) At least it's "only" 50 euros. CM4Sci Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Thread for each product - those are set reviews, not discussions. -Sci Quote
Herky Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 I must be going crazy, I have seen tons of threads all over the place, why do you care? Quote
Herky Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Rollermonkey, it is being billed as a Landmark Series, not a Building based on the wording on the box Quote
Andy D Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) I am glad to see a thread about the Trevi Fountain. I too would prefer one thread per set as it makes it easier to find. Having all the sets for a line makes it difficult to see or find individual sets... All that said the Trevi Fountain is a must buy for me. I threw a coin in the fountain in 2008 for a speedy return to Rome, but in 2010 due to conditions beyond my control, (I was even on the way there) I did not make it back to Rome and it looks like I will not make it back anytime soon. So... This set is a must for me! Andy D Edited January 31, 2014 by Andy D Quote
The_Viking Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I am Italian but I have never seen the Trevi Fountain in person :/ The set looks beautiful, details are astonishing. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Although I do not collect them myself I do like to see the architecture range and new sets when they come out. I would also prefer to see one thread per set or at least smallr groups of sets so they can be found easier. But anyway, this one does not really do it for me. I have to say that from the pictures it looks a little messy and all over the place. I think it is in too small a scale to get the detail. To capture this it needs to be quite a bit bigger. As it is it just looks like a wall with random bits in a pond at the front. Quote
promobricks Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Hi, i am the author of trevi post on promobricks. The set will be in stores in June - and i got a word that there will be another new set this year. Any idea, what building this could be? Michael Quote
Herky Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Michael - thanks, please keep us informed of any info that comes your way, we have, as you can tell from this post, another thread about the whole architecture line if you want to post any info there, hoping for Taipei 101 myself Quote
rollermonkey Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I thought of that later, but it's still a long stretch for the Architecture line. Quote

I agree with you 100%. It's messy, it's underscaled, it doesn't do the original justice. I guess it's like the Architecture Sydney Opera House in that regard. Andy D Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Is the set in white bricks (like on the box)? Or tan like the photo of the built set? I think it looks much better in white, make me think of a marble monument. Gotta have this one! Andy D Quote

It's hard to get white balance right sometimes. Strange that the photo of he box came out white, but tge set did not. Must be partly due to the background. Andy D Quote
Rufus Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I would also prefer to see one thread per set or at least smallr groups of sets so they can be found easier. We usually only provide one thread per set for the big exclusives that come with promotional detail from TLG. There are only usually 3-4 Architecture sets per year, so it's easier to keep the discussion in one place; besides which it shouldn't be too hard to find. So - apologies to all the one-thread-per-set fans; this will be merged into the 2014 Architecture thread shortly. Thanks Herky for bringing us the news and promobricks for the photos - I will post your picture (credited, of course) in the news thread; if you are unhappy with this please do let me know. Quote
rollermonkey Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 With all the Lego Movie chatter, the Architecture discussion was falling off the front page. :( Quote
Legogal Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I agree! It is great to see another Architecture set, and yes, just about everyone who visits Rome seems to spend some time at Trevi. Rome is so full of architectural gems that it is fitting to include a set from there. Quote
