Bob De Quatre Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 (edited) Zenith escort cruiser The Zenith was designed to escort diplomatic missions. It's sizes are 800 meters long, 240 meters wide and 290 meter height. (1 stud = 5 meters) Four main engines and three thrusters allow the Zenith to achieve high speeds comparing to ships of the same size, both in sub-luminar and superluminar speed. It has strong deflector shield, that could also protect any docked ship. The armament is composed of 3 twin-mounted turbolasers, 20 double laser turrets, ion cannon, concussion missiles and proton torpedos. (Click on pictures for bigger version) I tried some building techniques with the Zenith. First time I used bricks for the hull instead of plates. I let you guess which SW ships inspired me I'm not really happy with some areas, but I had to stop working on it. I also messed up the lighting, so the white areas are hard to distinguish of the light grey ones The internal structure is strong, and define 5 modules: the head, the center-front, the center-back, the engines, and the sides: Here is the LFX file Edited September 12, 2013 by Bob De Quatre Quote
LegoFjotten Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Fantastic ship! Colors, lines, engines... Great work! ...and the inevitable... will you build it? Quote
HJR-Holland Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Wow... I'm a bit speechless on this one. Great work! Quote
Brickadeer Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 One of my favourite build of yours so far Your building style is immediately recognizable. Quote
kevin8 Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 It's really impressive!! Original design? Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Fantastic ship! Colors, lines, engines... Great work! ...and the inevitable... will you build it? Thanks And of course I won't build it... but you can if you want Wow... I'm a bit speechless on this one. Great work! One of my favourite build of yours so far Your building style is immediately recognizable. Thanks guys. Didn't know my building style was so recognizable Oh and I forgot... Here is my entry for SoNE Ep1 Quote
Chills Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Thanks And of course I won't build it... but you can if you want Awww, why won't you build it? This is really an awesome ship. I keep looking through the photos to see all of the detail. Is that a hangar underneath? I see design elements from the Nebulon-B and the Correllian Corvette. And the curves are reminiscent of a Mon Cal ship. The red color is that of a consular ship.... but if this is a consular ship where is the ambasador!!! LOL Very well done, incredibly creative. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 It's really impressive!! Original design? Thanks. Yes original design, but inspired by a few SW ships. The ambassador is probably in the docked shuttle There is a hangar on the underside. Here is a new render, much brighter: Zenith escort cruiser by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr ....I think I love you. ... and I think I don't quite know what to think of this... Quote
cavegod Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 is it buildable and in the colours shown I may give it a go for you. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 is it buildable and in the colours shown I may give it a go for you. So I built it only with existing bricks/colors. I'm pretty sure the connection between the yellow and red (head) sections is too weak, but there is room inside to reinforce it. And I didn't include space for feets... Just take a look at the lxf file Quote
Only Sinner Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 A truly beautiful creation. I'd have to say, the design cues from KDY and Mon Cal are obvious to me. The fore section somewhat resembles the red android sidekick's head from Galaxy Squad. Nice render, too. I really like what you've done with the Hangar bay. Quote
Chills Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Thanks for the better pic of the underside, love the ambassador's shuttle. What's the piece count? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I definitely see the inspiration from the Hammerhead-class from KotOR, and a bit of the Nebulon-B at the stern ventral area. The way you've used the curves also remind me of the style of ships shown in drawn comics, for one reason or another. Altogether, a very Old Republic-esque feel makes it look plausible as a canon ship. Lots of greebles, plenty of more complex curves and angles, excellent work with the arrangement of the colors, and most of you probably know that I love seeing SNOTed bricks instead of plates anywhere possible. Blip Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 ... and I think I don't quite know what to think of this... Hahaha! Only for your tremendous LDD skills I'm afraid Quote
Infernum Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Woah! What an incredible MOC! Love the engines and front section! Incredible shaping! Nice work! Quote
Nom Carver Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 The details are amazing! and the shape is absolutely perfect. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 Thanks all for the kind comments @Chills: There are 7008 bricks, plus 23 for the small shuttle @Brickdoctor: The inspiration is not from the Hammerhead-class, but more from the Thranta-class. I started building that ship 4 weeks ago when I started playing SWTOR Quote
HJR-Holland Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 What I especially find epic is that you built this in LDD,which I find the most $%#£ irritating programme to design in. I hate LDD with a passion... So great work on that level too Quote
Csacsa234 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Im alaways amazed by your ships, thisi is fabulous, the colors, the shape, everything is perfect, Outstanding job! Quote
Jacob Nion Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 That's amazing. It's so detailed and elegant. Do you know how long it is in studs? Quote
Wedge09 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Absolutely amazing work  I love this ship When I started playing SWTOR If I may ask, on which server? Quote

Fortunately the Zenith is a small one I didn't tried LDraw, so I can't compare, but people seems very pleased with it... I should try it. I don't remember the name of the server as I didn't played for the last two weeks Quote
