Kalhiki Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Energy saw blades are the best. I hope we'll see it. Better yet, it should be in a trans fluorescent color. Just imaging what that'd look like under a black light. Kalhiki Quote
---Vertea--- Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I'm gone for months and I come back to find Pacific Rim and Cloverfield discussion?? Boy have I been missing out! I'm not gonna lie, I'm really very happy with these descriptions thus far. The minifigs intrigue me, as I've been mostly System for the past few years. But if this turns out as good as it sounds, I might just have to pull out my few HF and the Bionicle Box again. Quote
VBBN Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I wouldn't be surprised if the sawblade is used in Ninjago given the minifigures trans-weapons, but I'd certainly like to see it used in HF. In general I'd like to see more trans-weapons introduced. Not translucent, but actual transparent parts. I know i'd regret saying that one day when I really want to use a weapon on a brown MOC and all I have is pink, but still. They do seem to imply that the villains are giant, considering the Heroes need to use mechs. Just picture Pacific Rim with LEGO. And since Ghost worked on both of them. IT'S GLORIOUS. Unless the episode is in that damn crappy 240p as the Brain Attack episode. Wasted opportunity to the max. And what ever happened to that Live action HF movie they were making? Maybe it was disguised as Pacific Rim Actually I'm really into the idea of larger villains. A lot of HF villains are portrayed as being, well, dumb or goofy. A massive villain increases a sense of urgency and danger to me. I'm gone for months and I come back to find Pacific Rim and Cloverfield discussion?? Boy have I been missing out! Well, this one would probably be translucent rather than transparent on account of the material. I actually like the look of the various translucent weapons myself, even though some — like the red Chima blades — are practically opaque. And what ever happened to that Live action HF movie they were making? Maybe it was disguised as Pacific Rim They were never actually making that as far as we heard. The only "news" we got is that Universal was in negotiations for the screen rights (along with a few names for their intended writers and producers). There have been no subsequent news articles to tell us whether those negotiations actually went anywhere. Actually I'm really into the idea of larger villains. A lot of HF villains are portrayed as being, well, dumb or goofy. A massive villain increases a sense of urgency and danger to me. I agree to an extent, but I actually loved some of the goofiness of previous villains. Their over-the-top personalities and compelling design motifs together gave them the feel of comic-book supervillains. Giant monsters don't tend to have nearly as much literal personality, though hopefully there will still be a certain amount of "personality" inherent to their designs so they don't feel too generic. Shakar Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hmm. HF is going the opposite of BIONICLE's way. Since 2010, we had sentient, individual villains- even the SP animals spoke, hilariously enough (though they didn't display much personality). But in 2013, all we had were animal-like, non individual (except Dragon) enemies; and it looks like 2014 is heading the same way. Someone must be behind these Beasts, and I think he's the same person (um, robot) who created the Brains. It'd make sense to have him as Summer 2014's large set. And I'm the top poster again. Boy, I should really post less here. But all this speculating is so fun, and I have no exams to study for in this period. So there. Quote

I too agree that they will be azure. And maybe red/orange for the red villain. Really like the way 2014 is sounding. :) Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I don't care as long as they're fluorescent. I'm obsessed with shining black light on Lego. Ah, Trans bones... There is a god. Quote

Shakar Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Yes. YESS. Well, it's only fair- 2013 was about tr. cladding, 2014 is about tr. bones. Quote
VBBN Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Transparent bones, you will like them. Let the colour guessing begin. Erland Part Design I peed. That is fantastic news; Although many people may not find those useful, I myself can imagine a lot of possibilities. personally I'm hoping for trans neon orange or trans light blue for Chaos/Project Halycon, but at this point anything is welcome. You know, if the villains were black with trans-limbs, they would give off a glowing effect=pacific rim Kaiju. (I just love these references) where did you find it? where? Michael Finch and Alex Litvak, best known for writing 2010’s sci-fi hit Predators, are in negotiations to pen the script for the project, which would be produced by Mark Gordonand Bryan Zuriff of the Mark Gordon Company along withBen Forkner and Dean Schnider of Film 360, the production side of representation firm Management 360. "In negotiations to pen the script" Not started, but when it gets to that point, there is a fairly high chance of it being produced. VBBN Quote

vexorian Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 To be honest, a better news for me would be that TLG would go back to making all bone pieces black. I miss 2.0 times in which everything was more versatile because all your bones were the same color. Quote
Corydoras Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 So Flyer Beast is a winged humanoid? Those sound like a lot of pieces for a set, then again Razar and Eris pulled it off. Furno Jet Machine, due to the rotors, reminds me of Furno's Breakout form (though the rotor pieces had another purpose of course). If I remember correctly, the wings use these Ben10 pieces: http://www.bricklink.com/PL/87846.jpg and some other spikes to create simple, but nice-looking wings. Quote
Leewan Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 (edited) Personally, I would choose Tr. Neon Green. Yeah, that could be more useful, since there are plenty of Tr. Neon Green parts, but Tr. Light Blue is more original, and thus cooler, IMO. ^^ To be honest, a better news for me would be that TLG would go back to making all bone pieces black. I miss 2.0 times in which everything was more versatile because all your bones were the same color. Only black would be boring, IMO. More parts in existing colors (like red and light bley, as I said) would be more useful and interesting. And with only black bones, kids would never be able to build the sets correctly (I still have in mind the video of the YCF guy who, despite being an adult, misplaced one of Gorzan's armors). Yup, this is sad. Edited October 14, 2013 by Leewan Quote

I can't say I love those pieces- I still shudder thinking about Ultrabuild Batman's "wings". I hope FB uses the pieces in a better way..Eris/Razar wings would've been better, but I need to see pics to judge properly of course. Quote
Mr. Gundam Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 This is pretty exciting Corydoras, I wanted to ask just two more questions: Are they're still using the same HF feet or is it different? Are the blaster the 2012 launchers or different too? I don't want to know any details just to confirm if they change these pieces. Quote
Chro Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Those spike pieces would be more reminiscent of bat wings, which makes sense if there's a Kaiju inspiration. Quote
Leewan Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I agree, I don't think feathers would fit a Kaiju-like set. But Batman-like wings... I hope they will be better designed than Batman's ones. Quote

I miss 2.0 times in which everything was more versatile because all your bones were the same color. I personally like having options. An all-black skeleton can look quite nice, but so can a skeleton that alternates between multiple colors (for instance, black torso, medium stone grey or dark stone grey upper limbs, and black lower limbs). Colored beams can also help keep a limb without a shell from looking completely bare (CHI Cragger from this year's Legends of Chima sets is a good example). And finally, black beams can be extremely valuable for the sake of keeping a figure with primarily black shells from looking flat and boring. When doodling things on LDD I like to explore lots of different color schemes for the shells and beams alike. I do, however, agree that every bone should be available in black. It's extremely frustrating that 7M "B" beams are currently only available in Medium Stone Grey, because it means any model with those beams has to spread that color evenly throughout the model. As I said, I like having options, and black is always a good "neutral option". Edited October 14, 2013 by Aanchir Quote
