Jetrax99 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Translucent bones are only good when they're old hand pieces used for eyes anyway. Quote
Corydoras Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 This is pretty exciting Corydoras, I wanted to ask just two more questions: Are they're still using the same HF feet or is it different? Are the blaster the 2012 launchers or different too? I don't want to know any details just to confirm if they change these pieces. I'm not very familiar with HF pieces and the pics were tiny, so I don't really know. The mechas shoot spheres from between these parts: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=64275 I think at least one mech had them in trans green. Quote
Chro Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 That would possibly be the gold one (Rocka's Stealth Machine?), I think, judging by the recent use of that trans green color (the exact name of which escapes me) in many recent incarnations of Rocka. Quote

So we're back to the nonsensical ugly style of Thornax launchers (which don't even remotely look like any form of launcher weapon), no plasma guns it seems...ugh.Ah, Lego, why? The plasma gun is the single most beautiful launcher you ever made. It looks like a proper cannon like the Midak skyblaster, but it's not a one piece abomination. And yes, it's Rocka's mech no doubt. Ever since 2012, Rocka featured tr. bright green accents and weapons in his sets. Edited October 15, 2013 by Shakar Quote

Jetrax99 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Shakar is referring the gun the Heroes carried during the Breakout line. Quote
Aanchir Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 What plasma gun are you referring to? -Gata Presumably the kind the Breakout heroes carried. I don't mind Thornax-style launchers, though, especially when they have some kind of decoration like Splitface's laser. They don't look like any realistic modern weapons, but I often like to think of them as some kind of futuristic railgun, with an electrical current propelling the plasma sphere between the two prongs at high velocity. VBBN Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I personally like having options. An all-black skeleton can look quite nice, but so can a skeleton that alternates between multiple colors (for instance, black torso, medium stone grey or dark stone grey upper limbs, and black lower limbs). Colored beams can also help keep a limb without a shell from looking completely bare (CHI Cragger from this year's Legends of Chima sets is a good example). And finally, black beams can be extremely valuable for the sake of keeping a figure with primarily black shells from looking flat and boring. When doodling things on LDD I like to explore lots of different color schemes for the shells and beams alike. Agreed on this point. Moreso for the fact that they can make a set look more complete. For example, say you have a lime green and white hero set. The legs consist of a white shell to cover it's shin, and a lime green shell for the thigh. If you have a bone piece in white to correspond to that shin, and same with the latter, it looks more complete from all angles, whereas with a black bone you can clearly see that it is just armor slapped onto a black bone. With that said, the lack of colored bones is the annoyance to me. We get so few of them, that it becomes very difficult to create a proper bone structure with all of the colors necessary to correspond to the armor. Quote

There are a couple bone colors that are more plentiful than others. Black, Bright Red, Dark Stone Grey, and Medium Stone Grey top the list. I would not mind more bones in colors that there are currently just one or two varieties in, like Bright Yellowish Green, White, or Bright Yellow. I also wouldn't mind bones in Bright Blue... In fact, more variety of Bright Blue parts in general would be a good thing. Quote
DraikNova Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Okay, so tr. bones = . I don't care what color they are, they will be useful. Tr. neon would work for toxic reapa style MOCs, tr. blue or tr. light blue for adding even more color to my Dragon Bolt MOC (although tr. neon would also work), tr. smoke or tr. clear for stealth cloaking equipment, tr. red, orange or yellow for flamethrowers and tr. purple would help with making a HF selfMOC. Yes, those ones, thanks guys. And Aanchir, that's a pretty cool way to see it. I still don't like overall shape of the weapon very much, though. As for non-black bones, I think they break up the monotony in some cases. Dark bley bones look good on Rocka, Stringer (...the last Stringer we got a year ago), Evo and Stormer. Nex (same as Stringer) looked suprisingly good with light bley bones. Sometimes, non-black bones make up a vital part of the character's colour scheme: Breakout Breez, Toxic Reapa, Core Hunter, Fire Lord, Cragger, Thornraxx and others. Others, I think, look better with all black skeletons, probably because their armour is already filled with many colours: that was the case with the Breakout forms of Furno, Bulk and Surge, where I felt dark bley bones looked completely out of place. Transparent bones might've been cool (and I wasn't exactly surprised, since Front had already expressed interest in them in the past), but oh well- I'm sure the new sets are still going to bring interesting new pieces (like the feet from Ninjago's MechDragon) and recolours to the table. bacem Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 still waiting for pictures. c'mon internet, the other themes already got it, when will our turn comes? Quote
Shakar Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Actually, only Ninjago, Friends, SW and Superheroes got some/all pictures. The other themes are waiting for pics just like HF. Quote
The_Creator Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I'm not a Hero Factory fan, but I might get some of the mechs with minifigure forms. Sounds interesting. Per j2g, this could turn out really interesting. I'm always up for new small sets. Quote
toatyger Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Since we're gwtting minifigs now, does anyone else want an assembly tower set too? Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 A Hero Factory building as a playset would be nice to see just because. Heck, if they wanted to go all out, they could give it a splitting open function like the Monster Fighters Haunted House. However, I kinda doubt we'll see this set come to be. But it would be cool. I'm really wanting to see pictures. Especially the minifigs. The idea of minifig Heroes has settled in and I want to see what they look like. Also, speaking of the minifigs, I hope they're printed with a good amount of detail. The CCBS doesn't provide for very detailed, mechanical looks, but minifig printing can achieve this. Quote
Shakar Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Well, pics are late it seems, so two questions for Corydoras (if he doesn't mind)? 1)You described SB's and JW's heads well. How would you describe Flyer Beast's head? Bird-like? Insect-like? Demonic? Other? 2)You compared Furno Jet Machine to River Dragon. Was it just for the shape or the colours too? So is FJM red and white? Quote
BrickBuilder3213 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I have a really good feeling about this year, seeing as Lego are trying something pretty unique for a Constraction-based theme. I just hope that the villains aren't like this year's Brain Attack villains and that the mechs are of a decent quality... Corydoras, do you have any information about Rocka's Stealth Machine and Evo's XL Machine in terms of how they look? Quote
Mr. Gundam Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Well, pics are late it seems They are?!? Corydoras, do you have any information about Rocka's Stealth Machine and Evo's XL Machine in terms of how they look? He mention some descriptions a couple of pages back, i think you'll like it Quote
