BrickBuilder3213 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I have a feeling that these minifigures will just be system minifigures down to the legs, where they'll either be a new mold or extra detailed. Also, the head should be made up of at least three parts: The main head, the "helmet" and the visor, which should clip onto the helmet. Seeing as this technically IS a continuation of the Brain Attack storyline, I wouldn't be surprised if all the heroes were just shrunken down versions of their BA selves. :P Quote

I do wonder how they'll do Furno......... Quote
BrickBuilder3213 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I didn't confirm that... I just assumed that would be the case. Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Still, the Hero designs will most likely be closer to the designs of the minifigures and not just re-used CGI models from the BA episode. Because, k'now. To sell toys. Though I do wonder how the CGI models will be handled. Will they look exactly like the minifigs, or will they be somewhat modified to look a bit more realistic? Quote

Yeah, I definitely think the designs will be close to the designs of the minifigures. At the same time, I would still expect them to be constraction-like in their scale and level of detail instead of looking as accurate to the minifigures as, say, the skeletons in the Ninjago cartoon. After all, this is being done by Ghost, and it's not as though Ghost used minifigures in the Toa Terrain Crawler scenes of the , in the , or even in the CGI scenes of the and commercials. It'd really break willing suspension of disbelief for many watchers if the level of detail for the heroes to have considerably less detail than previous appearances or even than secondary charaters in this upcoming TV special. Exo-Force mini movie. That's probably where I got the idea when I was typing the post. So something like that is most likely (and what I hope is) what we'll be seeing. Just make all the minifig printing actual 3D detailing, and I think it'll look great. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Pretty sure they'll be designed as being of the normal hero Hero appearance and not as minifigs in the animation. Quote
vexorian Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) I am expecting the heroes to be like the CMF White and Black "mechs" or the Galaxy Squad robots., minifigures with the exception of a helmet. Edited October 21, 2013 by vexorian Quote
VBBN Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Regardless of the minifig design, I just hope the Mech protects them. It's all fantastic when you give a figure a suit of big limbs with big weapons, but to me a major factor is actual protection. When you have a Mech design that leaves the pilot exposed, you really aren't any better off than where you started. Perhaps part of that is due to my constant comparisons to both Exo Force and Pacific Rim; Since we ruled out mechs with heads, the next best thing is mechs such as exo force had, in which case I'd like to see some trans-glass elements, possibly with some nice printings. And although it's a long stretch, is it too much to ask for a set of controls? I know that's going to be difficult given the crossing of constraction and system, but I find it rather ridiculous when it's assumed that the pilot has invisible controls. (With that said, some control HUD detailing on the cockpit could help, and I suppose you could assume the pilot has that same Pacific Rim style of control, where they walk to make the machine walk, move a hand to move the mechs hand, etc.) I must admit, the more I speculate, the more potential I see in this theme. Even if the sets are a complete failure, it will hopefully give us a good base to start off with; Minifigures, hopefully a better way to attach them to a constraction frame, and possibly some other things. Shakar Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 The mechs do feature cockpits, thankfully. You're right. The hero mechas have no heads, but large cockpits in the center and the figs are standing inside them (I clearly remember the orange one standing, not sitting). Maybe the new legs are to make them connect to the mech without studded system parts? The villains, on the other hand, have heads. Breez is the green one, right? As far as I remember, she is standing on top of the winged villain (Flyer Beast?) like she is trying to control him or to find some weak spot on his head. That's what it looked like to me, at least. I've often wondered how the torso looks since Corydoras gave us the descriptions. My theory is that the torso cladding is replaced by a special cockpit/armour piece, with the right shape and size to house the minifig and attach it, and including a connection point for the cockpit window piece (via clip? Or hinge articulation?). The cockpit would probably feature ball sockets to attach to the torso bone. Quote
BrickBuilder3213 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I've just noticed... We are putting a lot of thought into what the heroes and mechs will be like... We need to give the villains some love too! For instance, I'd like to know (roughly) how big each villain is. I'm assuming that Jaw Beast is a small villain (like Scarox), Flyer Beast is a regular villain (like Frost Beast or Core Hunter) and Splitter Beast is a titan-sized villain (like Dragon Bolt or Black Phantom). Front Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I think the biggest set is a "delivery only" set, that get offloaded by a truck at your house Quote
BrickBuilder3213 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 And yet Evo XL Machine's $25. That would mean that you can still get it in stores. If a set was the price of the Lego Death Star, THEN it would have to be delivered. :P Quote
Shakar Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I think the biggest set is a "delivery only" set, that get offloaded by a truck at your house Hmm..I hope you aren't trolling this time We've been lacking exclusive and 35+ Euro sets since 2010- that's one thing I miss about Bionicle, between exclusives and limited edition it was so unpredictable. As for the size, 2014 is the year of giant villains so a big set makes sense in a way. Will it be a Villain or a Hero mech, though? Quote
BrickBuilder3213 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 It has to be a villain... Maybe a super huge version of the Dark Maker? :P Quote
Shakar Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I thought about "Dark Maker" too. Either way a villain would make more sense since the bad guys are currently out numbered at 5 vs 3. Quote
Infernum Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I think the biggest set is a "delivery only" set, that get offloaded by a truck at your house Is it a category five?!? . Quote
mrfang2 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) maybe that big villain is gonna be that weird bad guy we saw at that toy show a while back with the round mask and x shaped visor thing? ill try to find the link EDIT: this guy http://www.flickr.com/photos/26629915@N03/8481691966/sizes/o/in/set-72157632782520895/ Edited October 21, 2013 by mrfang2 Quote
Leewan Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) Unfortunately no, this is just a MOC by a HF designer (I can't remember who made it ), and even if it was popular here, I highly doubt Lego considered turning this beauty into an official set. Edited October 21, 2013 by Leewan Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Oh my gosh, please let it be a Category 5. :D The Heroes need something flippin' massive to fight. I should get my parts out and build some mechs and Kaiju (and just for the record, yes. I'm going to classify the beasts as Kaiju). Quote
Shakar Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Wow, I forgot about that guy. Yes, he's awesome, but he was built just to be repainted IIRC, an experiment of sorts I guess. One thing that I wish they reused from him is the head- what point is there in wasting such a unique and well done part? That head looks properly robotic, evil and serious. I hope the Beast heads give off that feeling - most 2013 Villains looked too cartoony to me. Quote
