CM4Sci Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Those minifigure versions are so cute! I might actually buy some HF sets next year... -Sci Quote
Zachattacx Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 And with that the transition from regular brick buyers turn to HF just like LEGO planned..smart move. I really am a bit meh with the mechs except Stormer's. But I really love the beasts! You can really see the Kaiju inspiration on the heads of the beasts(Knifehead). :) Quote
DOTM Shockwave Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) At this time, the new HF don't look good, but at the same time, they don't look bad. The mini figures look nice from what I can see. EDIT: I would say I won't be buying any of the 2014 sets, course I said that about the Brain Attack line, five sets ago, so I'll wait to see how the final sets look before officially declaring yay or nay. Kingriedak Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 And... With those pictures, I'm out. It was nice trying to enjoy Hero Factory for a bit, but I have to buy the Constraction figures too?! No no no. Enjoy! did you just come to the constraction forum, and get disgusted by the appearance of constraction? Get Out. Quit trying to bait, and stay gone. Quote

I think that he'd been following the news with rapt attention based on minifigures and was disappointed by the constraction portion. Nothing wrong with that. :P Quote
Dorek Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) Basically what I was expecting, which isn't to say bad. I definitely appreciate the level of artistry that went into it; it looks like a lot of creativity went into the designs. I'm not a huge fan of the demi-spider villains, but obviously I'll reserve judgement. I love the villain design in general, the head molds are quite awesome. And I think the story in particular is going to be really cool. Edited October 28, 2013 by Dorek Quote
dviddy Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I love everything. That big, Confidential watermark is a great design, and the way it falls across all the potentially interesting parts of the builds and stops us from actually being able to see much of anything is brilliant construction. So basically, these are small photos that don't even show off the construction or even real LOOK of the sets, and you can't even really see the minifgs' and their parts, and everything is obscured so I don't understand how anyone can say anything but "yep, those look like they're made with HF parts for sure." Dorek Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Oh, don't be such a wet blanket. There's a surprising amount of detail here; I would have expected the blurry actual-photograph-of-catalog pictures before anything else. Quote
Vinyl Scratch Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 This awfully reminds me of a cliché 50s movie like Invasion of the Body Snatchers having a baby with Pacific Rim. And goddamn I love it. The Kaijus from this line really scream Pacific Rim to me, I'm loving that. Also Splitter Beast reminds me greatly of Mutavore... Also, really diggin the minifigs, they look sweet and the uh chain thingamajigger looks great as a weapon. also holy crap are those translucent azure bones hnng Quote
Jetrax99 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Glad the minifigs are brand new. Splitter Beast is interesting. Really hoping they work on Evo XL Machine's legs. Could use some feet on Evo Walker. Quote
BrickBuilder3213 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I've seen the pictures and I LOVE the minifigures! The mechs are okay, I guess. Evo XL needs some serious work done to it before it's release. The beasts... To me, they're also okay. I like the design for the heads and they're pretty unique in terms of how they're designed. Hopefully, we'll get some clear pictures before they get released. ^w^ Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Ehhh. While I like the idea, the designs of the mechs are disappointing, to say the least. I really like Splitter Beast, though. I'll wait for finalized pictures to judge them properly, but the prelims don't look too good. Quote
Timeline 15 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 The Mechs are OK, but, my GOD, I totally love those villains. Those heads, those claws, all that azure! btw, I can't tell, is splitter beast a small titan? it seems to be pushing just beyond 100 pieces, which I believe is where Furno XL and Dragonbolt were. I'm just curious because that would mean two titans this winter, the other of course being Evo XL machine. Quote

MakutaDreadscythe Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I can't say I'm keen on the line as a whole. The villains look nice, but I find the lack of larger scale heroes questionable. I like the idea of the spider things, but when the main villain in over half the sets are little spiders, I sort of lose interest. I would have liked a villain counterpart leading, even if the mech made it one-sided. The minifigures remind me of the Bionicle Stars, and how they were abstract versions of the original characters. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Quote
Timeline 15 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 don't forget that the little alien and minifigure parts, as well as their weapons are included in the parts count. I know, it just seems in the picture that its bag is wider than most, suggesting it will be priced the same as Dragonbolt et al, regardless of how many pieces the set ends up containing. Its very possible that this high price: piece ration is down to the complex moulds for the minifigs,and/or the heads of the creature. Quote
Corydoras Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Wow, these pictures are a lot better quality (bigger & brighter) than the ones I've seen. The minifigs look nicely detailed and I'm actually tempted to pick up one of the sets, probably the Flyer or Splitter Beast. Quote
Phantoka_Chirox Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Sweet! So far, I like what I see! Even though it's highly unlikely, I hope those minifigs have more articulation than the basic lego minifigs. Like give them knee joints or something. Colors look pretty bland though, and is that Rocka sitting in Evo's mech? Quote
The Mugbearer Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 "Invasion from below!" Pacific Rim much? If you ask me, I am not really excited. Although I have not seen the figures yet (because it's really hard to look at them on those pics). Also I don't really like the Mech and Beast designs. Meh. Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I like it. Can't wait to see official, un watermarked pictures. I'll reserve more thoughts for later when the designs sink in, and I can form a good opinion. Quote
Aanchir Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Alright, thoughts on the individual sets: 44015 Evo Walker: Pretty cool for such a small set. I love the fact that many of the mecha use the System helicopter windscreen. I was just saying the other day how terribly underused that piece is. Not entirely sure what to think of those "bugs". 44016 Jaw Beast vs. Stormer: As the smallest "kaiju" set, it's no surprise this one is not one of the most impressive. But it's still got an awesome color scheme and some great parts. Medium Lilac spines and Medium Azur 3M beams? Yes please! We can get a pretty good look at Stormer here, and he looks AWESOME. Makes me very optimistic about the minifigures in general. They are, in fact, skeleton/robot type builds, so there should be plenty of potential uses for those minifigure parts. 44017 Stormer Freeze Machine Beautiful! No idea what that cylinder thing on the back is. Rocka Stealth Machine and Evo XL Machine also have them. But in any case, the mech itself looks amazing. 44018 Furno Jet Machine: Very cool model in general. One of the people in a Facebook group I'm in built some minifigure-scale constraction mechs once it was announced that next year would focus on those kind of things. He wasn't that far off the mark as far as torso construction was concerned! 44019 Rocka Stealth Machine: Pretty cool mech for the most part, though it doesn't exactly scream "stealth". The claw is nicely built. Not my favorite of the mecha, but it's still plenty unique. 44020 Breez vs. Flyer Beast: Wow, Breez looks pretty on top of things! Pun intended. Flyer Beast looks pretty good in general, though the standard fist seems odd for a giant monster like this. Color layering on the legs looks a bit odd but overall this seems like a neat model. 44021 Furno and Evo vs. Splitter Beast: Whoa, this looks awesome. Furno has an energy sword from this year's Ninjago sets, and together the two heroes are using a chain like the one Breez used as a bridle in the previous set, this time to trip up the massive Splitter Beast. Overall, Splitter Beast looks plenty ferocious, and the two-headed design works quite well for him! Kind of neat how he and Flyer Beast both have torn up bits of scenery: Flyer Beast had a radio antenna, and Splitter Beast has what looks like a streetlamp. 44022 Evo XL Machine: A very non-traditional build, but how effective that will be remains to be seen. But overall, it looks very much like a powerful mecha, which I guess means it fulfills its goal. Quote
VBBN Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Not going to say much till I get home, but this is a real mixed bag for me. On one hand I'm really digging these monsters, I can certainly see Kaiju inspired references and they just cool. With that said, a few negatives right off the bat; Spiders are relatively boring additions to the hero mechs. Obviously they have the Kaiju to fight, but I'd really just have preferred the money spent on the spiders to be used elsewhere. EVO XL...it's nice to have a new character in XL size, but does anyone else think rocka when they see that set? It's that damn trans green, why oh why can't we have trans dark blue. Evo walker... I can barely tell what's going on here, but honestly if you get Evo XL I can't see the point in this I think my main issue is that it looks more like a turret than an actual multi legged mech On a positive note: BREEZ! No mech, but a long as she has a minifigures I'm happy Again I'll give in depth thoughts soon but so far I can say I will buy some of these sets. Quote
VBBN Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Aanchir I'm pretty sure those tanks on the back are compartments to campfire the spiders, they look to have a hinge of sorts. EDIT: I meant to say capture but my phone autocorrected it to campfire. Too awesome to change. Quote
