Oh hey, zooming in the pictures, I noticed that Evo Walker uses the Plasma Gun from Breakout. Also I'm pretty sure Rocka in Evo XL thingy is just a placeholder, the bag has a finalized Evo minifigure. The minifigures have an awesome design, sure there's no elbow articulation but it's quite nice, and they really are accurate to the sets. Flyer Beast got technic pieces in his foot for some reason...

I still think that Jaw Beast has translucent azure pieces. might be wrong, but hey, azure + purple, sweet gloriousness.

One thing I noticed is that Stormer Freezer Machine has a reaaaally similar build to the Galaxy Squad Robots, I can see the same chestplate with him.

And I absolutely ADORE those stylized drawings thingies up top of the bags, They're glorious.

Apart from the fact that you can't really see like anything (as DV pointed out), what you can see looks quite meh to me, mostly. The minifigs are cute and very good, actually, but why are the sets all so small? Maybe it's just the CGI that makes them look so bland, though, it's very preliminary-looking.

Nice to see Stormer feet being reused, by the way. I'd prefer all mechs to have them, the standard feet are a horrible choice in my opinion.

Evo Walker somehow reminds me of those Good Guy/Bad Guy mini bag set atrocities we got in BIONICLE, but maybe I'm being unfair. I don't really like the way they handled the legs, though, it looks kind of strange.

Evo looks like Rocka in the XL Machine set and also, he's like floating or something? This one also looks too small, but I guess that's the picture's fault.

Flyer Beast has even more yellow, but some nice azure. The head looks good to me, but what kind of a ridiculous weapon is that? Did he just tear a pillar off a house and now runs around with it or what?

Furno Jet Machine totally looks like Breakout Furno...which is okay, I guess, it's a nice nod. The weapons seem like a logical choice. This one has a somewhat bland, but solid design which I'm sure will look much better in the finalized version.

Jaw Beast looks tiny, but transparent bones? YES. Also, new feet and those pieces we saw in the Ninjacopter. This one looks okay.

I'm not sure what Rocka's Stealth Machine (how is that a stealth machine, though?) right hand weapon is supposed to be, but apart from that, I like this guy, probably because of the bulkier design. Not too exciting, but okay.

Splitter Beast looks quite big and apparently he has two heads, which I missed at first sight. Bulky design = good.

Stormer Freeze Machine looks solid. Not too happy with the paw, but apart from that, he seems good enough.

I guess they'll all need some time to warm up to, but I may skip on them. I'm sure the finalized designs will look much better, though. I'm quite disappointed there seem to be very few new or interesting pieces (apart from the fantastic minifigs), but maybe I'm just not seeing them.

Overall, though, not the best Hero Factory year so far. I still look forward to the episode, though.

Bless y'all, for liking these designs. I'm gonna need more time getting use to this, cause they look so simple it's disappointing. I'll have to read all of your comments so far. They just look like an after thought to me. Those new feet are good thl

I'm thinking the heroes are built like normal figs but there legs are connected with the same piece used on Darth Maul from the Mandalorian Speeder Set http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=13249.

I think there arms are just new moulds of Minifigure arms. Like the mechanical one used in figs like Jack McHammer.

I believe there hero cores are just 1x1 round plates with the H printing like the 2x2 round plate on Jet Rocka. I don't like that there still using all white hero cores for the heroes. But at least with minifigure scale its easier to replace them for some of the trans 1x1 plates.

I won't judge the sets until I've seen better pictures.

Also here are two ideas as how I'd imagine they would look like when animated in the tv show. (I've chosen Furno to base this on) I think the left one is more accurate as the Hero Minifigs just seem to give off a 1.0 vibe to me.

  • Dissappointed they are not real minifigs, but they look cool.
  • I hope the scarabs are made of more than one piece, optimally the legs should be a piece each.
  • Watermarks make the large figure details hard to see
  • I so far love what I am seeing.
  • Stormer's machine gives me throwbots and roborider vibes, which is good.
  • Splitter beast seems to be my favorite.
  • I wish they got rid of bags.
  • First wave in a while that makes me want to buy ALL of the sets.

How are they not real minifigs? They have the standard hip and shoulder joints. They probably have a neck joint too. Seem like normal minifigs to me.

Or is it because they don't have the blocky appearance?

No "blocky" appearance = not real minifigs.

Anyway, Evo Walker's bag has the best shot of the figure build, when zoomed in. I don't think they use Darth Maul's piece, it appears to me that the chest is a new brick made to look like HF armor and also has the entry point for legs.

Some of these sets seem to be overflowing with content. This is the best idea constraction design thing had. Evo XL will deliver all sorts of fun. Comparing its role play value vs. the previous XL sets makes the comparison seem so unfair.

Edit: Stormer ice machine's bag art confirms that the bugs have at least two pieces, a technic connector is visible.

What's cool about the minifigures and scarabs is that it seems their pieces will also be useful for constraction.

And... With those pictures, I'm out. It was nice trying to enjoy Hero Factory for a bit, but I have to buy the Constraction figures too?! No no no. Enjoy!

...Uh, you were only excited for the minifigures? Jeez, what is it with you people and Constraction figures? A few pieces of Constraction goodness wouldn't hurt to have.

Well if it is a new torso mold. I hope the chest armor is a separate piece. I really like the chest armor piece on the heroes and hope its a separate piece like the Chima armor. I really want to use it on my custom minifigure

I like the minifig design, and I think this new piece in this guy's hands has good potential for building. Other than that, can't see or say much of the figures because of the stamp.

e: oh, yeah, besides HEADCRABS WATCH OUT DR. FREEMAN

(They look like they're made of 3[?] pieces, the base, the crest, and a connector.)

Furno's wrench makes sense now. First it's a Tahu homage with the fire sword in the Splitter Beast set, and now it's a Gordon Freeman homage w/ the wrench he uses in the Jet Machine set.

The chest armor for the hero minifigs seems exactly like the armor Chima's gorilla's use. Anyway, while I really hope the atrocity that is Evo's basic mech gets fixed, the larger one is...not too bad, actually. The flick fires are relatively unobtrusive (as proved by the fact that no one has complained about them so far), the paw fits with the mech's look and the legs are a pretty good build. The cockpit definitely needs improvement, but that's probably not going to happen. Flyer Beast is another big meh. Why can't LEGO ever come up with a wing piece that actually looks like a wing? Some sort of fabric or rubber sheet with connection points would be perfect for that. Furno's Jet Machine is kind of silly, but the lights on top seem to be a new piece, so that's a plus. Jaw Beast is the best small villain HF has made (and is ironically canonically one of the largest) with purple spikes, tr. light blue mini-limbs and it pulls off the skinny look perfectly (doesn't it remind you of Cloverfield?). Rocka's Stealth Machine seems weird, what with the unarmored sides and all. I really wish they hadn't given them those cages. They probably ate up half the budget. Splitter Beast is glorious, in full, bulky glory. The two heads make it look absolutely awesome, it seems to have a second set of limbs (see the black spots on it's lower chest?) and best of all, more Dark Azure! Stormer's Freeze Machine would be a failure, if it weren't for the fact that it looks like Portal 2's Peabody robot. Anyway, the mini-spider's seem weird, but kind of nice.

I like the new Kaiju theme, and I hope the theme continues into the summer of 2014. Boy, if there was a mega-kaiju in the same price slot that Jet Rocka occupies this year...

HEADCRABS WATCH OUT DR. FREEMAN

HEADCRABS. APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD. APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD.

I have to admit that the villains are carefully crafted, and minifigure characters look pretty interesting. But the strange thing is that a small set's got all the colors of bugs while larger sets've got one or none at all.

I'm glad that the medium sets've got more pieces.

Today I have seen Pacific Rim. Total and useless crap but the effects are nice. Number of 'Murican action twists is too d amn high. I have to admit that fight were uniqe. If Lego is going to give as a Tv show like this, I will watch it. However, I had more thoughts about Toa Mahri and Barraki during that film. After a second look I think sets will need revamps because sets as they are just junky constraction with a creative idea. I'm curious about next news even though.

No, Breez has been a character from the start of the story. When I said she doesn't have an individual set, I was referring to this wave only (I assume that statement is what prompted you to ask?). The Hero minifigs are featured in villain sets and their own individual set. The individual release has them with a mech. However, Breez only appears this time around in a villain set and doesn't have her own individual mech set.

For more info about the character, see Chro's post above mine.

EDIT: On a side note, your post brings up an interesting prospect. You say you hated HF, but now not so much because there are minifigs. Looks like they did something right. The inclusion of minifigs will more than likely draw in more people to Hero Factory and Constraction themes in general.

Good job, Lego. Good job.

Hehe yeah, they did do something right, but after a couple quick searches the theme is actually way better than I had expected, just my biased mouth voicing itself.

So splitter beast...splits.

Into two villains

Someone mentioned it on TFW and I didn't see it till now; the picture at the top of the bag shows an orange headed flying monster of sorts; and on the toy you can see some limbs wrapped around the torso. The monster is comprised of an orange and a blue monster that can join together into form splitter beast from the looks of it.
