MakutaNocturn Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) Wow. These skulls on Core Hunter's belt look badass! XT4 arms are also confusing. Edited October 30, 2013 by MakutaNocturn Quote
Shakar Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 ..wow. I actually like some of these, namely the villains minus XT4. CH looks like he wore pieces of dead Heroes as armour (I can see why they scrapped THAT). Voltix looked crazy, but quite probably more fun than what we got. SD used to be a sort of small Titan actually, and the bike had 3M shells in tr. purple.. wow. Thanks for sharing. Quote
Mesonak Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 ...Woah. I've gotta say, I prefer the final versions for most of those, but they all have interesting elements that I wish were kept in the final versions. Like Core Hunter carrying around strung up Hero skulls. Or Stringer having his proper colors. Or that pretty abstract and overly complex Speeda Demon. Or pretty much Voltix's entirely different torso build using that Drilldozer torso piece and that interesting tube connection. Yeah, there's some interesting designs they used here. Quote
ZORK64 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I'm surprised to see that TLG apparently planned to give all the Breakout heroes new heads (and Speeda Demon and Voltix too). XT4 looks very freakish with all those unique prototype parts. I'm also surprised that Stormer XL hadn't the Hulk torso armour back then, but instead arms with two elbows. Quote
ToaJaller78 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 ..........I am SO glad those were'nt final. Quote
Mr. Gundam Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 The things I do for this brand... Now back to 2014! Dude where were you in 2012! These prototypes have couple of neat features. One question tho: Do you know how they got Nex shield piece and 2012 shield on the same arm? Quote
CabooseBM Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Why hello there Lehvak Kal sheild, haven't seen you in a while. Quote
xxlrocka Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 2.0 Helmets as kneecaps? And Stringer's helmet looked cool. Oh, and Voltix wasn't as horrifying to look at. Anyway, good idea about HF in the LEGO Movie! Quote

Anyway, good idea about HF in the LEGO Movie! I actually prefer the final Voltix to the prototype, myself. His physique felt a lot more cohesive, and I like that the purple was made the outermost layer of armor rather than the middle layer. Speaking of purple, I'm glad we're seeing more of those rarer colors from the Breakout series like Medium Lilac and Medium Azur in next year's sets. Of course, it's a bit of a shame that certain colors like Bright Orange are still so terribly scarce. Quote
Front Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 So, we end up with a bit of transparent bones you guys are jumping around in this thread, just as much as some of the features of the new wave. Quote
Dorek Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 So they ARE transparent bones. Sweet! Hope we see more colors of that; I still have a dream of an all trans-orange hero. Quote
VBBN Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I do wonder if those spider-lings are final colorizations; The white pin connecting their two halves suggests the return of the C&G white 2mm axles or friction/axle pin. That or it's tan implying a loose friction/axle pin I suppose Quote
Gatanui Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 So, we end up with a bit of transparent bones you guys are jumping around in this thread, just as much as some of the features of the new wave. This makes me wonder if the little spiders will have a feature similar to the mini Visorak, where you could press them down and let go to let them jump? -Gata Quote
DraikNova Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Heh, those prototypes were about 50/50. Core Hunter looked slightly better than his finalized version, actually. And Speeda Demon was an awesome-looking mess. Glad to see the lightning pieces were changed though. Quote
Oky Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Is anyone else getting a Pacific Rim vibe from the 2014 wave? Also, does anyone else find it funny that the heroes seem to be using mechs to fight the little bugs, but try to take on the larger monsters on their own? The sets are obviously meant to be combined, but the fights on the bag arts seem ridiculously unfair. It's interesting that they are giving HF the minifigure treatment like they did with Bionicle. I liked the Bionicle System sets as they were great parts packs. These don't seem quite as useful for System MOCs, but I still like what they're doing. Quote

That's probably because they can't fit both a mech and a full grown monster into one bag. 3. These minifigs seem to have a bit more effort and detail put into them. They also have the correct heads. Quite a few Bionicle minifigs had the wrong head at times. Quote

Shakar Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Front, you brilliant man. Since they're the only recoloured bones in this wave, I'll have to assume you're talking about the "azure" bones- now that makes a lot more sense for all 3 villains to feature those. I wonder if it has a story significance? Maybe it means they're charged with energy. Returning to the sets themselves, I wonder which colour is going to be used, I'm personally rooting for tr. light blue (like the cladding on Frost Beast for example). And I assume that Splitter Beast's..uhm..second head, which appeared as azure like the bones, is transparent as well- which would mean SP's main colours are both transparent..very elemental like. If it indeed is tr. light blue, that just encourages me to develop that mod idea I had in mind even before pics came out. Quote

And for tiny heroes fighting giant monsters... there are plenty of examples that show it's only unfair for the monster. Edited November 1, 2013 by ZORK64 Quote
Jetrax99 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 *takes very close look at Splitter Beast* I see the feet from Jaw Beast wrapped around the chest of Splitter Beast, which kind of supports the whole split function the name implies. Quote

You may be right. I had interpreted that as some kind of suspension, but I suppose on a model this size, a splitting function could be a whole lot more likely. Quote
bacem Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 just looking at jaw beast again. just realized that the wings, is actually not wings but a second set of hands, most likely for the second monster when they split. and the weapon it holds is some kind of street lamp. looks like flyer beast isn't the only one who take ramdom street property as weapon. Aanchir Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) Interesting find... Titanium Metallic Stormer XL feet and Savage Planet paws. Also, the bugs do, in fact, hop, and Jaw Beast and Splitter Beast use the same lower jaw in Medium Lilac and Medium Azur, respectively. All things we could have predicted from the pictures but that it's good to confirm. EDIT: Also, here's the cockpit piece (the cockpit itself, not the windscreen) in Bright Yellowish Green and Bright Orange. Not sure which set would have it in Bright Yellowish Green, though? Evo XL Machine maybe? Edited November 2, 2013 by Aanchir Quote
