Aanchir Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I pretty dang wish that Nex doesn't get the kick again. I mean, a series where the Heroes rely on giant mechs, and they don't include the engineer of the Heroes? It's lost potential. EDIT: Soon as I said that, one of Breakout Nex's lower leg joints broke. That's not a good sign. Now, to be fair, Nex's specialty has always been communications technology. Like teh interwebs. Anyway, good to get some screenshots so I can look at these designs in detail. I like what I see, though some of the mechs look yellow or gold in some pics, and I hope that's just the lighting — I don't think either Rocka or Evo really needs another. I definitely see some heroes we haven't seen in the first wave of sets, though it's a bit difficult telling who's who in this dramatic lighting. The new monsters and machines look very neat. The heroes and "jumpers" also have been scaled up quite nicely. I take back what I said earlier about the heroes not looking like their minifigure equivalents — in some of these shots it's easy to see the similarities. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Mechs = Pacific Rim Large creatures + hatchlings + a queen = ALIENS! So it's Pacific Rim vs Aliens this year huh? Quote
Dorek Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Honestly I see more similarities the other way around; the mechs resemble the ones from the Alien franchise, and the monsters look a lot more like the Kaiju. But obviously Pacific Rim drew from a lot of things anyway, so yeah. Exciting nonetheless! Quote
Vinyl Scratch Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Huehuehue, was watching the trailer and I stopped at this particular frame. Just, what the heck is up with Rocka's helmet? Looks weird. Quote
PenPlays Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Huehuehue, was watching the trailer and I stopped at this particular frame. *snip* Just, what the heck is up with Rocka's helmet? Looks weird. Now his appearance matches the horrible casting for his voice. Tom Kenny's voice doesn't fit the character, at all. (I'm in no way criticizing his skills as a VA.) Quote
Jetrax99 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Now I've got the Iron Giant in my head from that image. Oh Rocka, what did they do to your helmet? Also, black pupils. They screwed up again. First the mouths, now the eyes. Is the animation team trying to make them human??? Edited December 6, 2013 by Jetrax99 Quote
Hobocalypse Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Took these screenshots, should be most of it I have to say I'm a little dissapointed here from what I can see. Splitter beast and Rocka are both different than their toy designs so I'll take this with a grain of salt. But that 4-legged beast really isn't what i was hoping for as the big villain. From what I can see -Walking mech with containment pod -Red six-legged beast -Big 4 legged beast -Azure beast -Surge in a flying vehicle Stringer and surge are clearly there, I think Bulk is standing behind breez in the second picture, and Nex might be next to stringer but that could be rocka. Just looks too orange to me Also I'm noticing these beasts all have "clawed hands" Don't get your hopes up; Splitter beast has them too(well he has modified versions of what really are his hands), which means my guess is we won't see those designs in the finalized sets. But who knows Also shooting the red beast is what looks to be surge in a mech. I can't tell if the mech and the jet are the same or if we are going to have a repeat of the Evo situation From what I can tell from these, it looks like the heroes in the top two pictures are stormer (or bulk), breez, and nex. Next two pictures have surge and rocka, (of course we all know that). The interesting thing is that the rocks in those two appear to be floating, as if something is messing with the gravity. The third one from the bottom is a bit hard to see up close, but I think the heroes in that one are bulk, stringer, and evo. No other signs of furno though, ever since he got dragged away by splitter beast's little brother...... Edited December 6, 2013 by Hobocalypse Quote
Timeline15 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) looks pretty cool, but from that mech at the start, am I to take it that Rocka is back with another, smaller set in the summer? -_- LEGO, we don't need any more of him this year, just focus on making sure ALL the other heroes appear this time, rather than some of the factory's most important heroes just being absent from major missions. Anyway, the realisation of the heroes this time round looks a little weird, but the beasts are so cool. Yet another year where I wish the sets were designed like they appeared on the show though. First Dragonbolt, now this.... Also, I hope that queen set turns out a lot bigger than it looks... Edited December 6, 2013 by Timeline15 Quote
Chro Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 The interesting thing is that the rocks in those two appear to be floating, as if something is messing with the gravity. If you watch the trailer, it appears that a cave or something explodes, causing boulders to fly all over the place. Quote
Shakar Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Oh man, I lost my post AGAIN... Anyway, looks like we're going to have (thanks to VBBN for the shots!) : 1)A dual-pilot gold (?) walker. Gold Cap America kneecaps and Bulk 3.0 claw mounts! 2)A flying ship and a blue humanoid mech. Wait, why am I listing these as one set? Check this: you can see elements from both models, from the ship (wings and flick missiles) and from the mech (Cap America kneecaps). I think it's a HF version of EF's Aero Booster. 3)A small humanoid mech. From the trailer, Rocka's piloting it. I swear, if we get 3 Rocka sets this year.. 4)A red Beast. Looks pretty small, but due to the six legs (=more pieces), I'll assume it's a mid size (15 Euro) set. I would've skipped red on the Beasts in order to favor more unusal colours, but Lego seems to disagree. 5)An azure Beast. Looks like it introduces the second shortest bones in azure. I would've preferred LONGER azure bones, not shorter ones, but the designers seem hell bent in making the Beasts ridicolously short.. Looks like it features more tr. light blue, on its claws and upper legs. One more Beast with tr. light blue like Jaw Beast.. this makes things seem less random, I'll wait to see how it looks IRL though. Finally, I'd like to note this guy might use GITD pieces- look at the chest printing and the horn (long time no see, Quaza spike), you can it glows in the second pic (while it doesn't in the first pic). 6)The "Queen". Surely she seems like a sort of leader given the staff. Looks like she uses lime as primary colour. Looks like a nice figure, but if she is the biggest villain set, then colour me disappointed. The wings, which I recognize from the Chima Spider sets, look pretty puny. The figure doesn't look bad, but she doesn't look powerful enough IMO. I really like the printed chest though. So, 6 sets. This might already be a full list (hope not though). I hope there's a bigger set because so far, I'm kinda disappointed. Quote
Kalhiki Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I really hope the yellow detailing on the Quaza Spike on the yellow and azure beast carry over to the set. It just looks way too cool. Quote
exxtrooper Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 What if one of the sets is a walker with two cockpits, that can split up into a walker and Surge's jet? Or something of that nature? Purely speculating here. Quote
VBBN Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Well I do believe that is two different walkers; One has the containment pod on the back, you can see it in the second picture. The other one is either something that can connect to it, or it's a different set. Though that would mean we would have 2 walkers and a jet/robot, which does hint at some more really creative designs this time around. Also on a side note, does this environment make anyone else think of Borderlands 2's Caustic Caverns? Quote
WARHEAD Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Also on a side note, does this environment make anyone else think of Borderlands 2's Caustic Caverns? I've had the exact same thought earlier today. Caustic Caverns was one of my favorite areas in BL2 so I have absolutely no problem with this :v Quote

Kalhiki Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Never played Borderlands, but I must say, I do like the environment. Definitely not what I was expecting. I guess I more thought of something underwater, but that's probably Pacific Rim influencing my ideas Quote
Shakar Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I really like the crystal cave setting. I excepted some boring dark cave, but they really pulled off something nice actually. Quote
Hobocalypse Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Just noticed this, if you look at the second cockpit on surge's mech it says rocka. So, go figure. Quote

DraikNova Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Well, Surge's vehicle is...disappointing, to say the least, as is the creature with the staff. Oh boy am I hoping that they're keeping the biggest set under wraps. On the plus side, the style of animation seems ridiculously impressive. I can't find any indication for the red creature having three pairs of legs, by the way. Also, have people seen that the spider creatures actually look like they're made of HF bones? That's a pretty amusing little easter egg. So far, the only summer set that seems interesting to me is the azure one (that quaza spike piece ). Quote

Xeros610 Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I'm glad Breez got something to ride on that it isn't a beast! Thanks VBBN! It would've been better a mech instead of a walker, tough, but it's ok...(And that claw looks nice!, good use of what I think are visorak eyes, considering the hinge joints size) Also, it's nice to see Bulk and Stringer back, hope they have a mech (or a walker) too! I still don't get why does the rocka mech on the trailer(wich looks a bit odd) has the new small feet of the beasts??? Quote
Shakar Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 So is it confirmed that the walker is Breez? How did you guys figure it out? I would've liked a mech more (especially a flying one given her theme) but oh well. And, pause at 0:45. What is that? It's a close-up of an azure Beast head, with an oddly organic style, and an eye design different from any other set. It looks different from any Beast shown- maybe it's another set? I'm really feeling the absence of a truly huge, titanic Beast. I hope this is the one. Quote

The lime one with the quaza spikes, that is. Quote
