I can't find Stringer anywhere in the video, can someone post an image of him?

It's really bugging me, because for now we have only seen the same seven heros that appeared in Brain Attack. It seems that Stringer and Nex aren't as popular as we thought in the market, even though Stringer is my favourite.

It's not entirely clear — he may or may not be the second pilot of Surge's machine, which can split into a flying machine and a four-legged walker. There's a hero <a href=" stringer who MIGHT be Stringer, but who could just as easily be Bulk, and the latter seems perhaps more likely now that we've seen Bulk clearly in another shot.

I will also be a bit disappointed if Stringer and Nex sit out another year, particularly in the sets. Until 2014, Hero Factory sets were quite good about not having a hero sit out from the sets for more than two waves. In the show, I can respect the creators' desire to keep the cast of characters small and manageable, but in the sets there's not as much of an excuse, especially now that there is the potential to include at least one hero in every set.

I'm pretty sure that's Stringer. Bulk in the previous pic was gray, this one is clearly black. And there's no other Black-coloured Hero than Stringer. Plus by your logic of Evo's helmet having the exact same back section, then it can't be Bulk either because his backside had two spikey-thingies.

After taking a one-year hiatus from Hero Factory after the underwhelming Brain-Attack sets, 2014 looks set to be a great year for the theme.

The concept alone of Mecha vs. Kaiju is appealing in itself, and it's a perfect and natural fit for constraction figures without converting them into system sets, the herofigs look excellent!

The episode trailer looks fun and full of action, I'm absolutely stoked for NYTF to see the summer sets, looking forward to seeing how Surge's mech plays out.

Is Surge's mech really four legged? To me it looks like a standard humanoid: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7445/11227924835_043e7c7544_b.jpg Notice the right forearm with a printed shell, just like the 3 mid size Winter mechs.

And VBBN, really nice MOC there! It reminds me of 7316 from Life on

Mars. Was that your inspiration?

Well, that image isn't the same scene I was talking about at all. The one that deploys from underneath the flying machine, and forms the flying machine's second cockpit, definitely has four legs. Watch starting at

. This machine, the flying one, is the one with Surge's name written clearly on it, and if you pause as it passes to the right you'll see a very clear second cockpit and four legs ending in Stormer XL feet. The four-legged machine that deploys from the flying machine has square shell detail pieces like Evo XL Machine uses.

When you see Surge's flying machine right-side-up and from the front at 0:27, it only has a single cockpit and no legs, so clearly there is a four-legged machine that detaches from the bottom of it. Looks like that might be Stringer in the cockpit as well!

It'll be so great when we have proper NAMES for these sets so we can stop confusing each other...

EDIT: On second viewing, the one you were talking about IS probably the same mech (same leg armor, same printed shell), but it sure isn't humanoid. You see it at 0:28, and its legs are stretched out to what, based on the angle of the "arm", would be sides. If it IS humanoid, then it has a ridiculously bowlegged stance, but I expect a more crablike mech at this point.

I know it's asked answered every year, so I might as well be the one to ask: when is the New York Toy Fair? Isn't in February?

Yeah, February 16th-19th. :classic:

There's always the possibility that "breez" walker drops from the ship. Lime green could work with Surge's scheme (Though the orange seat on the flying mech doesn't help that statement any...) Right now I'm a little confused as to what it's purpose is- The tri "claw" deems somewhat useless, as it is not an obvious weapon as of yet.

On that note, it looks like Breez's walker is three-legged and the container walker next to it is six-legged.

Surprisingly, no! But now that you bring that up, it's quite astounding how similar the design is. I actually really like how it's layed out; On my MOC I wanted it to be a sort of mobile lab, but right now it has no way to really open up or unfold, and as such the crane arm is a mess just thrown onto the back. That set has a more functional and proportioned crane/tail, I might draw some inspiration from that.

And Kalhiki, yes it is February 16-19th this year

From the Official Website

Toy Fair 2014 will take place February 16-19, 2014 (Sunday-Wednesday) at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and showroom locations. The show hours are 10:00am-6:00pm on Sunday, 9:00am-6:00pm Monday & Tuesday and 9:00am-4:00pm on Wednesday.

Can't be Breez's walker. The colors are pretty clear in the scene where we see it attached to the flying machine, and also Breez's walker doesn't have big feet like that (as can be seen clearly when we see it from behind at

. This doesn't mean it CAN'T attach, but we've seen nothing to suggest that it does.

I wouldn't be surprised if the claw can extend in a somewhat similar fashion to the claw from 7065, with a lengthy Technic "arm" that collapses flat. It's probably for picking up jumpers.

Hey guys I just registered and I saw that the other cockpit on Surge's mech says ROCKA

Huh, looks like you're right. I guess in the episode that scene is probably connected with the scene where we see Surge rescuing Rocka at

If that's the case I'm going to be really disappointed - Surge and Stringer are 2 of my favourite Heroes, I was so looking forward to seeing them together in a set! Hopefully we get set names soon, it'd clear up a lot of doubts.

I get what you mean, Aanchir, the way the leg is bent is kind of unnatural. That's clearly an arm though.. so it's a centaur-like mech, then? That's not impossible, but it bumps up the price I guess.

Anyway, it looks like a good set and I'm happy Stringer is finally return-

EDIT:

Taking control of Rocka, Furno, Evo, Bulk, Breez, Surge and Stormer in a total of nine powerful Battle Machines, you have to stop the beasts from destroying Antropolis City. Click here for more information and check out some pictures below!
Well, I guess Stringer and Nex are dead.

Thanks to VBBN BTW.

Stringer ranks highly on my list, his Breakout version was just awesome. It's a shame because all they had to do was recolouring two pieces (orange/black arm, orange/black leg) and making two more helmets. I hope they return in 2015 but being absent for two years in a row doesn't bode well for them.

On the upper side, I guess we can finally get a better idea on the summer sets. The Machines are supposed to be 9, so:

1)Evo Walker

2)Jet M.

3)Freeze M.

4)Stealth M.

5)XL M.

6)Breeze Walker

7)Surge Machine

8)The small mech Rocka's piloting at the beginning

9)Something for Bulk I guess.

9 Machines, 7 Heroes. Such cruel irony. :cry_sad:

Since there ARE nine machines, perhaps Nex and Stringer were planned to appear but cut for some reason. Maybe budget constraints, or maybe Nex and Stringer just haven't been as popular with the target audience as the others, or maybe the writers wanted to keep the cast of characters small and the set designers went along with it.

In any case, as I mentioned before regarding Breez, it'd be easy enough to make new decals for the windscreen of different heroes' machines, so all it'll take are new decals and palette swaps on the "extra" machines to create machines for Nex and Stringer.

Making actual figs is the hard part... but it's probably easier than making Brain Attack versions would have been. Anyone with 3D modeling experience (Brickthing?) want to take a stab at it?

Maybe they appear in the Beast sets... That's something that we haven't ruled out yet...

Good point, but personally I have doubts about that. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to make such characters exclusive to a set where they're not the focal point.
