I just realized Furno's not riding a mini spaceship as I thought, that's the Queen's satff. It's gold in set, unlike the black one in the episode.

So it's Furno+Stormer+Evo in a spider walker vs the Queen. I would've rather had Furno or Stormer get a second mech, but oh well..

Now I can see how the Queen is 30+ Euro.. it's not like Splitter Beast, at least two of the three Heroes have proper mini Machines here. That makes it even more infuriating: you know they were perfectly able to put Nex and Stringer here (or in an/other set/s), and yet..

No, we don't really know that. As I've mentioned elsewhere, it's entirely possible there just wasn't enough of a budget for new parts to allow that. Remind me, have we seen ANY obvious new parts from the summer sets, other than the helmets for Bulk and Surge?

On another note, I'm pretty sure Bulk's Machine, at a whopping 113 pieces count, is the mid size set with the highest part number ever.

True, though not all mid-size sets are comparable in price. The mid-size sets for 2014 seem to be $15, not $13 like previous ones. So unless you adjust for inflation, then Boxor, Nui-Rama, and Nocturn (all $15 BIONICLE sets, despite being larger than those years' canister sets) have it beat. Taking inflation into account, though, it easily beats all constraction sets of equal or lower price.

In that respect, this year has well and truly knocked BIONICLE canister sets off the pedestal of allegedly superior complexity. Even the smallest of this year's mid-size sets, Furno Jet Machine, surpasses BIONICLE's piece count record holders among canister sets (Mistika Toa Tahu and Toa Mahri Kongu, the latter having an inflated piece count due to its sixteen ammo pieces). Prices have increased, but even the smallest ($10) sets with their rather pitiful piece counts consistently surpass such well-loved sets as the Bohrok, Visorak, Toa Metru, and Visorak (all of which in 2014 dollars would be MORE expensive).

I swear, I always remember loving both Evo's sets and the character himself. Now, the over-saturation is really grinding on my nerves. I find his mech in the Queen Beast set infuriating for some reason, even though it looks to be superior to Evo Walker.

I also find the existence of another machine for Rocka a crime against humanity, but I guess it's to be expected by now.

I believe one of the sets can be seen on the right here.

I can't access it. Could you post it up in some way?

Edit- Never mind...

I must say that at least we're getting more than just minifigs in the Queen Beast set... We're getting another vehicle/mech along with it! <3 w <3

I'm now ok with the sets being delayed in North America. Now I can check out the Toyfair when the Summer Sets are revealed and truly decide what sets I want. I'm getting all the beast sets but I want to limit what mech sets I get. I want to at least get on of each jumper color. One of each Hero Minifig and One of each container and chair color. I'll be getting at least Stormer Freeze Machine for the Pearl Dark Grey feet and paws unless the summer sets have them. Furno Jet Machine since I like to get every Furno set. And Maybe Rocka's Stealth Machine unless another better set has the green cockpit.

Being honest, if Evo was replaced with Nex or Stringer for those mech saturation, I really wouldn't have minded it. Rocka I understand since he's the poster-boy, but Evo's overuse kind of appeared out of nowhere, and the Walker and spider-mech could've been easily Nex's while Stringer got the stealth machine.

So now that the set names have been revealed, I've taken a bit of time to properly assign them to the beasts and machines we've seen in the trailers (and that solitary catalog leak). You've probably all recognized what and which these names belong to already, but I've MSPainted some images to make it a little easier to see which is which.

Every single one of these sets look really nice, and I'm willing to bet the designers had a heck of a time designing them too. It's great to see the variety of designs they can create with only a few new pieces to use. It's sad to see Nex and Stringer disappear this year, but I hope they release them as Herofigs in 2015.

Now let's all sit and wait for evidence of Bulk's Drilling Machine to pop up. I'm as intrigued as all of us.

so... The animation on the new special looks to be great, though the heroes' faces still look very wired. The summer sets sound quite cool too, though Crystal Beast, based on what I saw in the special, isn't nearly crystally enough. Also, the lack of Nex and Stringer saddens me. They were the only 2 characters in all of HF that I actually gave a toss about.

It's too bad that we're getting Evo and Rocka again in the Queen set. Would it really have been too much to release another head mold for Stringer or Nex? If LEGO had dropped the extra mech for this set and used it to flesh out the Queen Beast a little more it could have looked quite a bit better. Although it's nice that we're getting Bulk again. I hope Crystal Beast is a little more complex than the show version, because at the moment it's just Splitter Beast minus the second creature. This would be a great opportunity to use the Brain Attack rock armor add-on. Back armor maybe? After all, if the info we've gotten is correct, the Crystal Beast weighs in at over 20 parts more than the Tunneler Beast, which appears to have an extra set of arms, furthering the mystery. What is LEGO not showing us about the Crystal Beast?

I wonder what the in-show explanation for the heroes changing mechs will be. The mechs will probably just get damaged enough to warrant new ones.

I'm guessing its..crystalness refers to the tr. light blue parts on the figure, ie the Frost Beast claws and 3M shells. Such a great parts pack.

I excepted it to be a 10 Euro set, though. As it is, the figure is as complex and big as Jaw Beast, just look at the limbs. So, colour me surprised when I read it has 83 pieces. Adding the pieces of the Bulk minifig, I count 53 pieces! Even by adding some equipment on Bulk's part, and some back armour for CB, it'd amount to about 10 more pieces. There just has to be more. Maybe Bulk is using a mini Machine?

..............Sup.

I'M SO EXCITED TO BE HERE!

So the sets look cool.

..you should've used a different name. :sceptic:

Maybe, although that would still not account for the full disparity in part count. Perhaps a little scenery was added?

Crystal Beast with all the pictures we've seen of it, (counted by myself)adds up to 41 pieces(including the fingers from the trailer).

Minifigs are 9 pieces.

So that adds up to 50 pieces.

That can lead to a weapon/s for Bulk.

Perhaps a tail for Crystal Beast?

Or even back armor.

I looked at the picture ikkad555 shared.

This one: http://www.majhost.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3800534

And on the second image(the one with CB on the crystal) you can see a azure bit in his back.

Might possibly be back armor or a tail.

There is also some bit of azure in the bottom of CB on the first image.

And in the last image you can see a azure hand connector underneath CB.

I didn't quite realize it had a back armour (though I excepted it). So, let's count two pins, one of these, a tr. light blue shell and what seems to be another Quaza spike (like the one on its nose). So, 2+1+1+1= 5 more pieces. Bulk likely uses a weapon, maybe a datapad too, so let's add about 3 more pieces. There are still 20+ pieces missing. DraikNova's scenery idea is pretty cool, not sure how they'd do it though.

The possibility we're getting the names wrong does exist, but I think we actually got it right. The azure beast could also be "Tunneler Beast" given its claws, but that red Beast has nothing that would suggest a crystal theme on its design.

Maybe some Jumpers?

Let's say about 2.

And those all together have 6 pieces.

This is really a mystery.

:P

But Tunneler Beast has claws too.

And it would feel really weird to switch up the names.

(Though it is a possibility)

I mean CB has to be in the crystal area, right?

:P

I'm guessing the crystal theme is carried out via the tr. light blue pieces and recoloured Quaza.

Now, Jaw Beast's transparent bones feel less random, but it's still something I would've liked to see on all Beasts. I appreciate a group of villains wih a cohesive colour scheme, but as far as that goes the Machines are better planned out IMO.

Looking at the Queen, it appears there's something going on in the lower body. It seems to be some build to extend the torso, but I can't really figure out how it's built aside from some pieces of cladding attached to the sides. But I also noticed some light blue around it's... butt area. I'm assuming it's something like a spider abdomen. In which case, the Queen beast appears have some more intricacies than we may think.

Did a real quick test of the build of the container walker,

11711434824_f0fe083668_z.jpg

Now obviously I left the armor off here that is on his legs, as I am curious now- How exactly is this container supposed to connect? In the animation model it looks a lot thicker, likely using a perp. pin connector 3L w/ 4pins and what looks to be some thicker base between it and the torso frame

EDIT: Looking further at the actual toy pic, there is a technic bar across the front of the container; Thats...a horrible choice of part isn't it? You would only have one pin connection, otherwise the pod would be locked shut. Alternatively, perhaps it is part of a large support frame, in which case this is a lot more complicated than I thought.

And I have no clue why that thornax launcher is so far out on the toy, my design and the cgi model place it in such a way where it is directly ending under the pilots feet

Edit2; I also note their are the yellow cylinders on the sides of the walker, which I suppose supports the idea that it uses the perpendicular connector...my design needs serious revising. But at this rate it's going to have more parts than the queen's build!
