DraikNova Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Pretty nice. My version (not using Jaw Beast, however) is kind of similar to that, although significantly smaller and less complex. Good work, and it's definitely given me ideas on how to build a HF version of Godzilla. And good news for me, thanks to my Galaxy Squad and Ninjago budgets decreasing, I'll have enough to buy multiples of the beasts. Any advice which sets are useful for MOCcing? Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 That's amazing! Love the spikes down the back. Very Godzilla-y. Makes me want to buy multiples just so I can have this alongside the other Beasts. Quote

I'd say all the sets are pretty good in terms of mocing with new parts, it just depends what you're making. I bought Breez and Rocka to get a hold of Breez figure and green cockpit piece, which is also available in Evo XL but it's a bit expensive. In terms of the monsters just about any of the sets goes, as they all have the same head-mold. If you're looking to make mechs even the smalles one comes with Evo and cockpit. Quote
Leewan Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Now I want to buy Flyer Beast... BTW, here a re my alternate MOCs from Rocka's Machine and Jaw Beast (the only sets I own for now) : Rocka's Walker : Fish Beast (lame name and lame pic for a lame MOC, yes, but it's not easy to build something good and original out of Jaw Beast's single parts) : (alternate view) Maybe we should start a new topic so that everyone will be able to show and discuss his alternate IVB MOCs and combos. Quote
toatyger Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 To be honest, i like your alternate Jaw Beast better then the original, and the Rocka Walker Mech isn't too shabby either. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 @Leewan: Agreed, we definitely need a special topic for these alternates. Does anyone what know the cheapest way to get black heads, completely plain or with one side decorated, is? Quote
Shakar Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) http://brickfanatics...oy-fair-report/ Hero Factory will be subterranean spider theme. Pieced together like the droids and skeletons. Barrel type technic carrier to hold the spiders?Spiders are one-piece rubber part with a shield on the top which you press down and it jumps into the air (to attack). Some pieces look glow in the dark. They basically described the general theme of the year, but oh well, I didn't expect anything more (at least they weren't snarky about it, like, say, Brickset usually is). At least the GITD printing on Crystal Beast and the Queen are confirmed. No info on the LoC CHI figures, disappointingly. Edited January 21, 2014 by Shakar Quote
bacem Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 glow in the dark! looks like it really follow same pattern as brain attack. i hope we're gonna get new colors for jumpers. Quote
VBBN Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I'm hoping for GITD jumpers myself, more for the nostalgia point of it. However any GITD parts would be great, it's one thing I really enjoy and don't think we've gotten enough of yet (the day we get GITD bones or shells will be a glorious day...though given the material that might not be possible) Quote
Zenerius Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Two of those arranged how? One on top of the other, they'd be far too tall and narrow to really convey the appropriate look. Next to each other, they'd be close to the right height and width but entirely the wrong shape. I think the best way to get the right shape and size would be if instead of using a proper transparent windscreen, you created a rollcage-like frame out of Technic angle connectors. A rule of thumb I've been using is that a typical 2011-2013 hero figure is about 3.5 times the height of a 2014 mini-hero figure. As far as I can tell this is pretty much true of any hero figure around 22.5 modules (7 inches/18 centimeters) tall, in the very least. With that in mind, the ideal windscreen/rollcage would be about 20 modules tall, 14 modules wide, and 14 modules deep. Well, I've got a regular hero-sized mech for ya right here! Quote
DraikNova Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I like the idea of GitD pieces in HF. Especially for an underground theme, where bioluminescence makes sense. Also, while rather simple-looking (probably out of necessity), that mecha looks like it fits the hero quite well. I like your other mecha, although they're more hard-suits than actual mecha. Also, finished my Jaw Beast mod. It's now Tail Beast, using it's tail like a mace. Quote
Leewan Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Nice, Zenerius, but it's not in scale. We need something bigger. I just thought of smething : with this, one could make the best minifig ever : a minifig version of Evo Breakout. Oh, and thanks for your comments guys ! Quote
DraikNova Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I was looking through the minifig body parts list only yesterday, don't know how I managed to miss that application. As it is, it's an absolute NPU. Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Glow in the Dark, eh? Can't wait to see if that's referring to the chest printing on Crystal Beast and the Queen. that'd look pretty neat. And Crystal Beast's horn. Quote
Leewan Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 And Queen Beast's "wings" ? They seem to have a different shade of blue compared to the other parts, from what we've seen so far. Quote

They appear to be a purplish-blue.... Maybe a new violet color? It could possible be the lighting on the set, though, they might actually be an already existing color. Aanchir Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 They appear to be a purplish-blue.... Maybe a new violet color? It could possible be the lighting on the set, though, they might actually be an already existing color. Are you referring to how they look in the leaked catalog image? To me, they looked to be Transparent Blue, similar to the sword pieces from CHI Laval and Aquagon. Quote
Shakar Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Just saw the pic again, looks like Aaanchir's right. Interesting idea, but I can't say I care much for it. I wonder if it means something for the new CHI Ultrabuilds. Quote
Zenerius Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Yeah, I was talking about the leaked image. The wings could be transparent.... I don't know. Maybe they will use those (possibly) transparent parts on the ice villains for the new Chima ultrabuilds. Quote
Cirkit Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I l-o-v-e _shaddow_'s alternative Beast combiner! Just dig all those spikes on the back, and the plain black beast heads being used as a pincer claw. That's smart, that's really smart. I really like the tail as well, for some reason. Must be all the azure. Leewan's alternative creations look great too! I'm a big fan of Rocka's little walker. Looks like it could be an official summer-wave set! I'm not sure about the trans-apple claws on the back. Are they just there to be there, or do they serve a specific function? Either way, I like the little walker a lot, and the Fish-Beast looks pretty cute as well. :) I'm interested to see the glow-in-the-dark parts.. and to see the Queen's wings up-close and personal. I'm curious about them. Quote
Leewan Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I'm not sure about the trans-apple claws on the back. Are they just there to be there, or do they serve a specific function? Thank you ! The claws are indeed there to be there, I wanted to use a maximum of parts, so I put theme there. I don't think this was the best choice, but it couldn't have been much better, IMO. Also, it's not very visible, but the tools are attached to the Walker's "stomach", so they're easier to grab. The gun is also attached to the middle hip balljoint with this. Quote
Timeline15 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Glow in the dark parts and/or printing? Dis theme gonnuh be geewwdd. Quote
Takanuinuva Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) I think maybe the blue backed jumpers we saw in the game might be glow in the dark. Only they would be the glow in the dark color that Takadox and Gadunka had Edited January 21, 2014 by Takanuinuva Quote
Lyichir Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I think maybe the blue backed jumpers we saw in the game might be glow in the dark. Only they would be the glow in the dark color that Takadox and Gadunka had The glow-in-the-dark color that Takadox and Gadunka had wasn't a single color. It was a blend of Trans. Blue and the contemporaneous glow-in-the-dark color. The images we've seen of the blue jumpers don't have signs of obvious color blending, but then again they are just renders. But if they are blended, they would have to be blended with the modern, more opaque Glow White. Quote
