Just like with Brain Attack, I'll probably buy every single one of the sets from the Invasion From Below line. Seeing as I already own the entire first wave, I'll definitely be able to buy the entirety of the second wave.

...As long as I don't start buying Ninjago again, of course. XD

Well obviously budget wise I'm doing pretty good as far as HF 2014 is concerned, but the summer wave I'm really only interested in crystal beast and (maybe) the surge machine if it has a good amount of blue parts. Other than that I really don't see myself buying the rest, unless they went on a decent sale in which case I'd grab the anchor machine (I refuse to call it flea machine) and queen beast for parts.

Does anybody know for sure the new HF sets are at the Toys R Us stores in the USA? The site says the new sets are available in stores, but I can't check my local store for a multitude of reasons.

No reports yet, but they'll probably be there by the end of next week.

My friend recently bought Jaw Beast and the Freeze Machine, and he's giving me his second Stormer minifig, the mech cockpit assembly, the beast's head, and some other parts. I don't know what his reasoning for ditching those specific parts on me is, but I'm still very grateful! I still may pay him though.

I just remembered that last time I was trawling through the LEGO Customer Service replacement parts database, I DID find some curious new minifigure parts...

Now we know these parts aren't in HF sets. And I think I know in which set they will appear : I found this and this while looking at the 71006's minifigs parts. So my theory is that they will be parts of The Simpsons CMF Series' minifigs. Unless Lego plan on releasing those "overmolded" parts in other themes. But anyways, this is definitely not HF.

I went yesterday, and nothing. But since they're on the website, I expect to see them available soon.

If not, well, it's only roughly three more weeks.

It sounds like you got a pretty good deal, LewiMOC, as those are some of the most useful parts of those respective sets.

Anyway, my current plans are:

Jaw Beast: 4x (maybe 5x if I'm lucky)

Flyer Beast: 2x

Splitter Beast: 2x

Each one of the hero sets: 1x

Crystal Beast: 3x (maybe 4x)

Tunneler Beast: 1 or 2x

Queen Beast: 3x

Also, since I came up with a way to make the Beasts' heads, I might make "normal" scale/Godzilla-sized minifig-scale versions of each Beast. Does anyone know how to make a representation of the new claws that is 33 cm long?

Gosh, that's a lot of sets. Are you planning on getting all of those sets right away? Personally, I try not to get duplicates of sets unless I can get them at a discount of some kind, but if you have immediate plans for how to get the sets and what to do with the parts, more power to you!

I plan to get them spread out over the entire year. Why I'm getting them falls into two categories: 1: I need the parts for revamping the sets themselves or other making MOCs in general, or 2: I just want an army of daikaiju Beasts .

EDIT: Also, here's a random little list of what particularly useful bone and torso parts you can get in which sets and in what amounts:

Tunneler Beast: Waspix connector x1, presumably Stormer adder x1 and smallest torso x1

Kaiju Queen: Waspix connector 3x, the larger of the dual ball cup bones x2, friction adder x4 and smallest torso x3 (also the third-longest upper arm bone x4)

Surge and Rocka: Stormer dual ball cup bone x1, the larger version of that piece x1 and friction adder x4

Crystal Beast: Tr. light blue 4-long bones x4 and unknown parts to make up the tail of the set.

Rocka's Climber: Smallest torso x1

Bulk's Driller and Breeze Anchor Machine: unknown.

Sounds very interesting...

It's also nice to see that Lego is massively bringing XT4 torso and Stormer XL's double ballcup.

Thanks Leewan!

Yeah, but it's strange how few uses I've found for the XT4 torso. It's shape makes it hard to use for adding back armor (although that may just have to do with my deficit of armor shells), and the "axles" that connect the shoulder balljoints to the main body make attaching more parts horizontally rather than vertically impossible. The Queen, however, uses this part to great effect.

That's a lot! My record remains 5 copies of Evo 2.0, S@H marked them down at 6 Euro (of course, I didn't know about the wonders of Amazon at that time). As for Bionicle, I believe it was 4 Hahli Mahri (in 2008, at Legoland Billund, you could find some Mahri and Barraki for 4 euro).

Now that the parts buying service is available here too, I could change my strategies however.

Luckily, the sets I'm getting consist almost exclusively out of pieces I want, making it cheaper than the parts service. However, thanks to the wonders of parts service, we'll all be capable of getting the glorious 5-length lower limb bone in tr. light blue, without having to buy several Chima sets just for that.

Should we re-rail the topic any time soon?

I got 2 Rocka XLs for parts once. They were 15 bucks each, and I couldn't pass that up.

I'm tempted to get multiples of the Kaiju, but I'm not normally a "buy multiples" kind of person...

Maybe 2 Crystal Beasts because I'm addicted to trans parts.

I'm just waiting for Atamaii to post their report on HF. They did a great job last year, showing the sets from good angles.

As for Summer sets, I've got my eyes set on Crystal Beast. Transparent shells, claws and bones, printed torso shell, black/lime Quaza spikes.. I'm in!

I collected Bionicle since Toa Mata and I think I don't even have triples! And most of the doubles I have are from auctions. And they say I have way too much Lego...

Posted

I don't have doubles either. No double Bionicles and no double Heroes (not entirely true, I got a second Voltix for Sinterklaas; still trying to sell it though).

Posted

I don't buy doubles for the collection. But I will, on occasion, for parts. And even then if it's a sale or something. I rarely buy a set for parts at regular retail price.
