TheDesuComplex Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I was finally able to check my local Walmart for the Winter/Spring wave. The only set that they had was the Furno/Evo vs. Splitter Beast for $19.99 Don't worry. In my area we didn't get any Brain Attack sets except Furno XL for about two months after release. Quote
EVO97 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Don't worry. In my area we didn't get any Brain Attack sets except Furno XL for about two months after release. That's too bad. When the first wave of BA came out in Alabama, I had a hard time finding Bulk. Have you had any luck with Invasion from Below? Quote

VBBN Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Yeah, those ones. I really don't follow SW at all so I assumed them to be new. I had a gut feeling they showed up somewhere else before but I had no clue where to search (that, and I was on my phone). Well, first off they finally did it, they finally managed to make minifig sized launchers. Second, I see they use the good old round 1x1 as ammo, that makes them pretty customizeable (you can give each Hero the ammo colour you want, as if they were mini-Zamors). To be fair they are new for 2014, they look to be popping up in a lot of summer themes. They seem like they work fairly well, so I don't think I'll mind them, though with the already limited arm poseability of these figures i'm hoping the weapon doesn't look too ridiculous when wielded. bacem Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 this might feels like a silly question, but can someone remind me when did summer sets usually released? Quote

Kalhiki Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 June/July ish, if I remember correctly. Can't be certain, though since it seems like it always varies from year to year. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Something I don't understand: How is the blue cocoon attached to the Queen? If that picture from the "Making of" movie is accurate, she would have to use only two cocoon parts, making it incomplete. Edited February 14, 2014 by DraikNova Quote

If that picture from the "Making of" movie is accurate, she would have to use only two cocoon parts, making it incomplete. Not necessarily. Medium Azur Y-joint pointed down, with an 2M axle or axle-pin connecting the Y-joint to the three-way connector that holds the three cocoon segments together. One of the three cocoon segments is partially hidden behind one of the ones that is showing on that image, if I'm not mistaken, since it's partially folded open. Quote
Logan McOwen Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I've just realised... Once 2014's done with and we're all done MOCing things for the IFB theme... All the beast parts and Minifigs will be kinda redundant? I dunno, it just seems that the brains etc. from last year have gone that way for me, so I'm worried that my IFB parts will go the same way. That could just be me being a dumbo but eh Quote

That could just be me being a dumbo but eh I really don't think they'll drop the minifigures next year. I mean, we still haven't got any Stringer or Nex minifigure. If we get their minifigures next year, THEN I think they'll drop them. Quote

If we get their minifigures next year, THEN I think they'll drop them. i'm not sure about that. i personally also like it more if they keep the minifigs, which means we'll get more mechs. but the only reason they reverted to minifig this year is because the enemy this time is giant monsters. wether they gonna keep the minifigs or not depends on the story next year. tough, that is still a possibility, since there's an increase of interest from system fans towards hero factory due to the minifigs. Quote
VBBN Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I only want to see minifigs return if it means the return of system based playsets, otherwise Lego had better tackle a cool theme. Post apoc, space, something other than another year of "mindless beasts" Quote
Dorek Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 In a sense a lot of specialized parts become "redundant", but that doesn't mean we won't see them again either. I doubt many people expected to see the 1.0 helmets again, but then they showed up for Breakout. (still rooting for a wave that draws from past years) Quote
WARHEAD Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 The beast heads can totally be reused as armor (the part with the axle at least) or crab claws or something. The cockpit seat piece I'm not seeing much use for other than what it is though, don't have one yet though, so that might change when I get to fiddle with one. I really hope they keep the minifigs though. Quote

WARHEAD Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 yes, but that cockpit seat can be used on something other than mech, like, say, a tank, or a jet maybe? Well yeah, obviously, but I meant differently than it's been used so far. I really wish the mold came out in a more neutral color. Quote
Mesonak Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I really wish the mold came out in a more neutral color. LOL, same. I still can't fathom that of all the colors in the world, they choose orange and lime green for the chair colors. It baffles me. On the subject of parts and their continued usefulness, the thing that separates this wave from Brain Attack is that the Brains' use was very limited in the sense that, unless you wanted to specifically make Brain-controlled creatures, you ran into roadblocks. This wasn't helped by the fact that the villains' faces were designed around the Brains and didn't line up properly with the normal head pieces unless a brain was used. This limited things drastically. With Invasion from Below, yeah, it may be a bit difficult to use chairs for anything other than chairs and minifgis for things other than... minifigs, but overall the parts are a lot more free to be used. Making a beast or a creature that uses the beasts' head pieces is very simple, because those creatures could be... anything. Making a vehicle for a minifig hero doesn't have to be restricted to the Invasion from Below concept to be viable. That's what really gives this wave a leg-up in comparison. Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Was the polybag with the yellow guy and mini walker posted on here? I had an image earlier, but I can't remember where I saw it. -Sci Quote

DraikNova Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Great. Another Evo. Let's hope he has a more interesting small mech than Breez does. Anyway, the Beast parts seem far more reusable than those used in the mechs. The seat could be used for another vehicle, but the canisters are nearly useless. Quote

Shakar Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Another Evo, REALLY? Breez was a good idea since she appears in only two main sets, but a fifth Evo is ridiculous. It should have been Surge or Bulk, they're the only Heroes who appear in two sets each. Quote
coolcab1 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I don't care if we get another evo, I'm just happy we didn't get another rocka. Quote
