Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I thought the non-movie sets weren't supposed to be coming out until May? Ah well, this is great news that they are available already, especially as they can be found over here first. I can't get any of these for a while, but I will be sure to get the Karai Bike Escape set eventually. Quote
SMC Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 as Iv not seen the new cartoon and Im more of a 1980s man I don't need all the different cloths ones but I do like Leonardo you get in the Karai Bike Escape set but that will be the only one I get Quote
Legoman123 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Hopefully we will see the movie sets earlier as well. Quote
Maniac4Legos Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I suppose it would depend on where you are. From what I know of how polybags work over in USA, I would say it would likely show up in TRU or something along those lines. For the UK, we'd likely get it in a newspaper promotion (if at all). As for elsewhere, I honestly can't say as I'm no expert on the distribution of polybags. Although I do not know about its availability I could agree along these lines as far as predictions. Polybags have been varied between stores and licenses. For example the first TMNT polybag that we had was from toys R us. I am uncertain that it will still appear there again since we had it once before. In Walmart you can find the Disney Princess polybag. This shows that I sensed polybags are varied between store locations as well as generic themes from Lego such as friends city and Chima. With the release of new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sets this year I would also imagine the polybag appearing from a shop at home promotion. It would make viable sense that this polybag would be available with the release of more TMNT sets. Just with the Lego movie sets once they were released they had a promotional polybag based on the LEGO Movie that helped boost sales. In promotions with Lego through shop at home or in the Lego store traditionally the items available were associated with another theme. Four and another example the hero factory accessory pack was available with any hero factory purchase in July 2013. This would motivate people to buy the accessory pack through buying your factory sets. This would also enable compatibility with the product because the accessory pack can work with other hero factory figures that were purchased to get the accessory pack. In short all I am saying is that this promotional polybag may be available once the new TMNT sets are sold in stores and on the LEGO website. It may be an offer so that people will buy the new TMNT sets from Lego. as Iv not seen the new cartoon and Im more of a 1980s man I don't need all the different cloths ones but I do like Leonardo you get in the Karai Bike Escape set but that will be the only one I get I agree with you as far as their variations. I have not watched the 1980s cartoons but I am slightly familiar with the modern cartoon from which the sets are based. If I keep up with the series I will let you know if the clothing variations are relevant to the show. As far as I know from the show they do not have these outfits available. And again you must remember that I have only seen half of the first season. There is a decent Patrol buggy on the cuusoo site. & there is a Casey Jones attempt. I would buy it. Although I am hoping in the future for a figure of Casey Jones, I do not believe that Lego would make the patrol buggies shown above. Such model is very similar to the one included with the Baxter robot rampage set. Although this is one of the four buggies that would have been used for the turtles, they said adaptation seems to match the ones shown above very well and also matches the ones in the show. One could attempt to buy them separately and then combine them with other turtles in order to get all four with their own accessories. Unfortunately you would have to buy them from other vendors so that you do not buy four sets of the Baxter robot rampage only to get the buggies. In short the chances of Lego making the patrol buggies for each turtle are very unlikely. I would imagine that if Casey Jones had a significant purpose in the modern show or movie they would have made him as a figure. Quote
BrickG Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I wish we got another Splinter, maybe with legs this time. People hated him for no reason. He's a good representation of him in the show. I also want his green cane. As for Casey Jones he's significant. I'm guessing if there's a 2015 wave we'll see him. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I'd be shocked if we didn't see Casey Jones in a 2015 set; he has already been of great significance in the series, and will clearly continue to be important. Hopefully in 2015 we actually get some season 2 stuff in general, as this year's wave just seems to be all season 1 content again. Quote

Steph 104th Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I expect to see Casey Jones with April at the ice rink battling the Foot Bots as next years 13 dollar set Quote

We've already seen him in leaked images from Toy Fair. Casey is important, but I doubt we'll see an official Lego version of him before October. I haven't kept up with the show, so I don't know how he looks. The only Casey Jones look I liked from the previous incarnations I saw was from the first movie. I might look for a custom of him. He and Tatsu are the ones I want from the original movies. "I'll never call golf a dull game again." Quote
just2good Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 I got the TMNT Shredder's Lair set from TRU.com! Video review here: And some quick pics: Overall, this is a great set! Not only does the design look great and unique, it looks like a really fun set to play with because of all the little play features. And, the three figures with exclusive printing are a nice addition. Shredder in particular is even better than the version from last year. Quote
BrickG Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I want that Shredder. I want nothing else. I hate when that happens :P. Quote
BrickG Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Well it matches his throne room from the TV show pretty well so I can't complain. I need a throne room myself. Quote
Super Goblin Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I saw Shredders lair at a TRU in Kentucky two days ago. It was the only new TMNT set there. Quote
Steph 104th Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Glad Shredder finally got backprinting and got more accurate scars. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 That set definitely looks excellent, particularly the new Shredder. The accuracy of the build is also very impressive, but the minifigures are only slight variants of what we've seen so far. The Robot Foot Soldier is an awful design, but there isn't exactly a better way for LEGO to manage characters with 4 arms. Overall, the build looks excellent, but the minfigures could do with more variety and something truly new to add appeal to the set, though the new Shredder does help that somewhat. Quote
Legoman123 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) I really like the look of that set more than I thought I would. I'll probably end up getting this now. Edited March 22, 2014 by Legoman123 Quote
zipper778 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I found this at my local TRU today and bought it. I'm very impressed and happy with the set. At first, I was confused with the steps leading up to the throne (while building them), but once it was all together it proves to be a great feature. There's some unique pieces and it's the first four armed minifig I've ever had. It's a great start to the 2014 TMNT sets. Can't wait for the rest. Quote
