I think it's actually a new scabbard mould, as in one of the images, it does appear to be attached to the shell.

Really? I guess I didn't look closely. But I saw on the snow rig getaway set that the piece used from prince of Persia is there, for holding swords (katanas).

Honestly, I really dig the Truck Getaway. The cars look really cool and the accessories look great. However, those figures...

Not so much the humans, the humans look decent. I could probably find some use for all of them. The turtles though look like they went through plastic surgery to give them noses, and it looks really awkward. And the shells being where they are look really bizarre with the open space in the back. No... wait a second... it looks like they just flipped the one's from the show upside down. Considering the prices on these sets, they're not going to be going in my collection unless they go on sale, which, who knows, might just happen.

How do you feel about it in terms of value? How does it rank against other TMNT sets you've tried (if any)?

Once the movie hype subsides and if it turns out that the sets aren't attracting enough sales, then yeah, it's reasonable to expect these to be discounted. Potentially sooner than the norm, too.

If they do go on sale, I expect the Big Rig to go for £30, It has happened! I wouldn't mind If they put the shellraizer to £20 because at that price I bought the old fire station!

Got the sub! Love it. Nice play features etc. I normally take'em apart after a while, but I think this one will be staying together.

A kind Toys R Us associate took the time to dig through all of the new pallets in the back to track down the sub for me as well.(Thanks Dayton, OH TRU!) At first I was mostly getting it for the Leatherhead  figure, but it turned out to be one of the best builds I have done in recent history. It definitely is the best build and set from the TMNT line IMO. The set blows away the Shellraiser build which was the same price point. The Shellraiser had the potential to be an amazing set but was greatly flawed by a horrible design which gives it the potential to crumble apart anytime you take the roof off.

Anyway, the sub is one of the most sturdy and creative sets I own right now, ranking up there with the Quinjet and Helm's Deep as my three favorite builds. Even the bad guy mini set, in the form of the Krang sub, which I always dread making at the beginning of the build, was very clever.

What's more, I was able to grab it for 25% off with a TRU friends and family mailer coupon. There is a 20% off version online right now. Pick it up, you won't be disappointed!

Hmmm maybe. The one I saw in the photo was shown with all the accessories. It was not on Leo but sits in front of him.

The movie Turtles fig look awesome! From the neck down. But dear lord those faces. OMG! I think we have new candidates for ugliest licensed Minifigs? Sadly it doesn't look like the Ninjago bandanas will fit. That would have been a good option from hiding those hellish noses so they don't scare the children.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Glad to hear its worth checking out — that seems to be the consensus from what I've seen thus far. I've been going back and forth trying to decide if I should pick it up. It looks aesthetically pleasing and I've been wanting a building set to balance out the vehicles, but my gripe is the price here in Canada. Redeeming VIP Points may help me bring down the cost, but at the same time there are double points this month so I have that to consider.

Not sure if this is really the right place for it, but I was thinking since this year's sets have been revealed and we're not getting a Mutagen Man or the Patrol Buggies, I'd start working on my own versions. Here's what I have so far.

Mutagen Man is pretty simple, meant as sort of a display for Donnie's lab, rather than the walking, smashing version. The Patrol Buggies are just the rear two so far, an I'm planning a few modications if I can get parts. Also need to get the parts for the front buggies, and larger rear wheels for the current two. But that'll come - For now, they're functional at least.

Almost forgot to link the full size images. http://imgur.com/a/SAMMp

Oh cool. Thanks for the information!

Possibly picking up the sub considering you guys think its so awesome!

I think it's pretty good but maybe not awesome only for a few flaws. Mainly leather head is my complaint since he's not to scale with the turtles.

Great news, everyone! You wanted images of the Turtle Lair Invasion set? Here they are, thanks to Amazon Canada!

Now you can see one of the new turtle designs up-close (perhaps two if you count Raphael)! You'll also notice with the Turtle Van that the roof comes off similar to the Undersea Sub Chase.

For the Big Rig set, the interior looks a bit better than I expected and the back of the box shows an interesting play feature for acting out the scene. I'm not totally sure about the mechanism on the second vehicle, where the roof splits in two to reveal Karai. I think the idea is that as the top part opens, Karai's platform will be raised. I personally still think the aesthetics are bland, but these features do give me a better feeling about the overall design.

Let the discussion commence!

Well the turtles don't look as bad as I initially thought (They look better here than in the movie), though the shells being so high is kind of bizarre. I might actually get a few of these, I will say the minifigures are a big draw. April is especially interesting (I can use her head and hair to make a less ugly Black Widow) and I'm always psyched to get some good casual clothing for my minifigures. Not thrilled about the return of Satipo's head, I have far too many in my collection. Really I get tired of this laziness, especially when they do this to important characters.

Part selection is nice, not exciting, but definitely practical and usable. I haven't bothered to buy any of the TMNT sets as of yet, but I'll definitely have to consider these.

Really not a fan of the Turtles minifigs themselves in these movie sets. They look like they just sort of melted a normally shaped minifig head. The face printing looks like someone gave them a pig nose and poured pea soup on their heads. It's just... Bad. The shells look terrible, too. Why is half of their shell on their chest like normal, and the other half shoved up like someone gave them atomic wedgies? Who thought that design was good?

The sets, however, look fantastic. I'll be getting all three, and then quite simply throwing the Turtles themselves into a ziploc and hiding them away in a parts drawer, never to see the light of day again.

Really underwhelming sets... I initially liked the turtle van set but that interiour is really weak. I guess my money is going Ghostbusters & Simpsons CMFs. Even the lair from the 1st wave looks better than the new one. Biggest mistake is the nostrils and the bland look overall.

Posted

The build of the Lair is good, but too monochromatic in my opinion, too much grey. I get it that is a movie and the color palette isn't bright like the animated series, but I still can't like it. Splinter in not that bad, and Shredder is the best one, to me. The printed helmet and that new shoulder piece (at least is new to me) looks really good.

I confirm my first idea of maybe buy the Van set for the van itself and pass on the other two.
