elederberg Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 (edited) Did we hear that we were getting TMNT Movie sets? Or were they first released at a toy fair? Because if they were just released at a toy fair, then maybe the same thing will happen with the next wave. Edited January 15, 2015 by elederberg Quote

SMC Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I am surprised they seem to have done well even if the builds in some of the sets were not the best. Quote
tkatt Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 The Nickelodeon show was renewed for a fourth season so maybe there will be sets released to go along with it next fall. Quote
elederberg Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I am surprised they seem to have done well even if the builds in some of the sets were not the best. I know! Which is why I would be surprised if they flat out cancelled the line. I thought that they were doing better than some of the other themes Lego is selling. Also I don't think that Lego is having any problems with Nick which would cause them to cancel the line. Quote
Elrond Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 (edited) If the line got cancelled, I wonder if the movie sets are to blame and TLG was disappointed in the sales for the TMNT theme. It's a shame anyway, even though the movie sucked, those sets had better builds imo. Edited January 20, 2015 by Elrond Quote

I'm guessing the theme is taking a break, as I think the show is off season and I don't remember seeing any new toys on the show in the past few months. Maybe a bigger fan of the show can fill us in? The next movie comes out in June 2016, by the way. So maybe a show wave in January 2016 and movie wave in June of that year. Edited January 20, 2015 by just2good Quote

I'm still catching up with the tv series and I'm almost done with season 2. So far I'd say there's room for more minifigs but maybe not for actual sets. This series was clearly made to sell action figures, not really to sell construction toys. I'm guessing the movie was much more popular among the target demographic but since two of the three movie sets are very similar to some of the sets from the first wave, I'm wondering if that had an impact on sales. While some of the builds in the movie sets were better than in the cartoon ones, they also looked more boring and the turtles looked even fuglier than in the movie. I would much rather get more sets based on the TV show. It is currently airing and halfway through the third season. There are still several awesome sets they could make from it such as the new Party Van, the Turtle Blimp, and the Turtle Mech, along with more Kraang vehicles and maybe some brick-built mutants. As for characters, we still need to at least get Casey Jones! Please don't let Michael Bay kill this theme, Lego! Quote
Faefrost Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 One noteworthy thing I noticed in my local Lego Store yesterday. All of the TMNT sets had been moved to the far back corner next to the stock room, where they typically put the sets and themes that are being discontinued. (Last major occupant was Galaxy Squad). I wish they had stuck with the TV show sets. The movie sets seemed to drain the line of momentum and consistency. In my area, the Movie sets seemed to be selling pretty well. At least the next movie has a new director and writer, so there is some hope. Plus they absolutely promised BeeBop and Rocksteady in it. So if Lego returns to the theme there is hope for BigFigs of them. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I'd always welcome Bebop and Rocksteady! I don't know about big figs though. Quote

The show has been back on the since the 11th, and will be airing new episodes weekly until at least Feb 1st, I say at least because there are no new episode listed past that date. I know that some action figures, including Bebop and Rocksteady, were being sold exclusively at Walmart in late 2014. That was supposed to change this month and they were supposed to released in other stores as well. Also the party wagon is supposed to have its debut next episode and Bebop and Rocksteady should show up in the next 2 episodes, so if Lego wanted to make a set with either of those things they could since they would have already been on the show. elederberg Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 So is the final verdict that the theme is cancelled? Also sorry for all the repetitive posts I just really don't want this theme to be cancelled considering all of the potential it had for future sets. Quote
SMC Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 SpongeBob too a break so it could be back but looks like Scooby doo is its replacement Quote
just2good Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 SpongeBob too a break so it could be back but looks like Scooby doo is its replacement There's no replacements for licensed themes. Especially ones from different companies, like Scooby Doo and TMNT. Quote
SMC Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 There's no replacements for licensed themes. Especially ones from different companies, like Scooby Doo and TMNT. Yeah I kind of hate it when people say something replaced something just cos they end start at the same time. Was just thinking that lego have one had one cartoon line at a time SpongeBob/TMNT/Scooby Doo although we do have Simpsons but that's not a normal line with regular sets. Quote
deskp Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 wel replacing or filling a similar slot, wahtever. Quote
Dunedain Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 God, I really hope this line isn't cancelled. The TMNT movie sets could disappear for all I care, but, as others have said, there is SO MUCH potential still for the Nick TMNT lego line. The speed demon car, the turtle mech, environments like Baxter and Kraang labs, even more Kraang ships. Forget about mini-figures that need to be made too. Casey Jones, Beebop, Rocksteady, Tiger Claw, Baxter Fly, and tons more. Until I hear "official" word what this line is cancelled, I am still going to hold out hope that it will continue. The Nick cartoon was just recently renewed for a 4th season, so that's good news. Playmates is still continuing to make new waves of figures on going. Also I know, by me at least, and that's in the NYC/NJ area, the Lego sets seem to have sold very well. They were sold out and re-stocked many times over, in a ton of different stores by me, so idk whats up. I just hope we will see more Nick sets. The potential for great cartoon based sets are awesome, it would be such a waste if this line was not produced to its full potential. Lego and TMNT were and are made for each other, lets keep our fingers crossed. Quote
elederberg Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I totally forgot that Spongebob took a break and since they are both owned by Nick that gives me a lot of hope that this theme isn't over yet! Quote
Gooker1 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I love the introduction of the Party Wagon, so I'm hoping that is on deck if/when Lego shows some TMNT. Quote
elederberg Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) I have a feeling that we will see the Turtle Blimp in the next couple of episodes so Lego could probably also make that, Rocksteady and Bebop are showing up in the next episode which I really would like them to make. Lego and TMNT were and are made for each other, lets keep our fingers crossed. I think a lot of the sets we got were wasted opportunities to give us actual things in the show. Most of the turtle vehicles weren't even in the show, excluding the Shellraiser, sub, and rocket... And we never got a main character, Casey Jones. Quote
atreyu2112 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 There was a big lul in the show. But yes, now things are moving along. Shredder's Dragon Bike was finally in an episode! And now the Party Wagon (man I really hope we get that as a LEGO set) & Hot Rod finally made an appearance. The recent Turtle Mech. Bebop & Rocksteady are here now... So there's finally enough stuff that would make sense as set builds to get a new wave together rather than just characters. Also, I've seen the "Mystic Spirit" turtles figures in stores along with Bebop & Rocksteady (in Target), the Party Wagon, the Hot Rod. Quote
