Lazarus Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I am a huge TMNT fan from the 80s and seen all the shows since. I own every TMNT lego set even the beginners kids one, shreders lare and past shreder mini fig and the two limated comic con figs And will keep buying them if they keep coming. Quote
TheLegoExperience Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Bringing some sad news to the TMNT fans. TMNT sets (Like the other Nickelodeon theme, Spongebob) are being released in 2016 by the arch nemesis: MB. Here's the story: http://www.broadcastnewsroom.com/articles/viewarticlemobile.jsp?id=3750286 Quote
atreyu2112 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Yeah, just saw that on a TMNT forum. Well, in all honesty, the recent MB stuff has been a HUGE improvement over their older product so this could be a good thing for fans of the NICK show. It's just a shame that it won't be LEGO. and especially after wave 2, which to me only had 2 worthwhile sets. Quote
Ultron Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 It's still a shame we never got a classic set/wave. Quote
just2good Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Rest in pieces, LEGO TMNT. I liked you. A lot. Quote
Dunedain Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 WOW, HOLY WORST CASE SCENARIO!!!!!! What a shame! Not only does the TMNT line end for Lego, but we have to get tortured by seeing inferior sets from Mega Bloks, HORRIBLE!!! So many missed opportunitys from Lego, and now they will never be made. My TMNT collection will never feel complete. Quote
EdWebhead Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Ugh, that's really unfortunate. I was looking forward to seeing so many new characters and vehicles, but nope. And the fact that Mega Bloks gets to make sets...just...ugh. All my hopes and dreams...crushed. Quote
Steph 104th Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 What a disappointment! I'm really glad I invested in all the sets, I'm very grateful that we got sets in the first place, and at least we have the turtles, so we can moc away. Rest in Peace TMNT lego! Quote
SMC Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Happy to have picked up the sets I did now. Lego didn't make the most of the line not for the first time but we have our 4 turtles so that's the main thing. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Nooooooooooo!!! What a shame that this comes right on the heels of Toy Fair, too. I was looking forward to possibly seeing some new sets. Quote
KingDom Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I'm kinda surprised that the cancellation is getting this kind of response. I always thought the sets were pretty uninspiring but maybe you just have to be an 80s kid to appreciate this kind of thing Quote
tom20arc Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I like TMNT but the sets didnt appeal to me. I wish they had made some sets from the 2003 TMNT tv series. Quote
TheBatstan Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Huh, so the Turtles are going to Mega Bloks..... again. Quote
dr_spock Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 It was fun while it lasted. Did MB offer more money or did TLG chose not to renew the license? Quote
zipper778 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 The sad thing is that even though MB have inferior quality to LEGO, they will probably be more visually appealing then our sets. Although the Turtle Sub is a gem and a great deal IMO. Quote
Faefrost Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I kind of suspected that this was coming after Spingebob and other Nik properties. While not the perfect cuteness that are Lego's minifig take on the Turtles, it will be interesting to see if MB uses their newer CoD style super articulated figures for them. MB's quality has been improving by leaps and bounds in some, if not all lines. Their AssCreed line is pretty much the same old MB we expect. But the newer CoD line is like it was made by another company entirely. I will miss the Lego TV turtles. (Never could stand the movie sets and figs.) Quote
Lazarus Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I did always think the movie sets had killed the line and we know that for sure now. Dam I just wanted a b-bop and rock steady and a real krang also KC. I dont care about the sets we can moc but the minifigs are hard to Moc and never look as good as the real thing. Quote
elederberg Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Man this is very very disappointing. I was really hoping for one more wave just to get Rocksteady and Bebop. I can always make my own but like Lazarus said they never look as good as when they are made by Lego. I wonder what caused the switchover, I always thought that the sets sold fairly well, but maybe it didn't have to do with the sales, or maybe the Movie sets did not sell as well as they hoped. Quote
Lazarus Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I think the movie sets killed them I think, i bought them but they are crap sets. Quote
deskp Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 no no no, the mvoie sets didnt affect this. Quote
SMC Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I don't think the movie did end the line because Lego would have had sale numbers for the non movie line and movie line and if it was only the movie line that didn't do well then they could see that. I think it might be that wave one didn't better than two. When people got all 4 Turtles they might have been happy and moved on. Nickelodeon might have just wanted too much money or Lego just wanted to move onto something different. Quote
Kintobor Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Here's to the Casey Jones minifigure we'll never get. Oh, who am I kidding? I'm glad we at least got something out of this. Two waves is impressive for a licensed theme, and I'm glad we got Karai in minifig form. Still... I really wanted Casey Jones, and knowing that Megabloks will probably produce a figure of him breaks my heart. Quote
legofanatic12 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 They made April O Neil in different variants, but why they don't make Casey Jones in minifig? He's also in the new show. Quote
SMC Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 ^ We only got one April in the TV based sets and it was in a exclusive. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I think they meant, April existed in the TV and movie show, so 2 versions of April, yet 0 of Casey Jones. I would have enjoyed more familiar characters from my youth. I only bought the 3 sets I needed in the first wave to get the complete line-up of turtles, splinter, and shredder. I don't care that much about April. But that means wave 2, I didn't bother with the series. I didn't need underwater variants or any of those wacky villains. Had they released Bebop and Rocksteady and Casey Jones, I certainly would have purchased more, or even the bigger android body Kraang walked around in. I passed entirely on the movie series. Those turtles were too ugly. Not sure what they were thinking. So it makes sense why the line is no more based on sales figures...but that doesn't mean they weren't finishing the line anyway due to other contractual agreements. SB has shifted a few times already hasn't it. Maybe Nickelodeon is hard to work with? Quote
