I'm beginning to seriously consider moving to Glasgow Anyway, video is done! Admire the awesomeness of large scale building! Um.. Not sure where that came from, but carry on. I hope it shows what you want to see. If there is anything you want to see in more detail, tell me and I will take some shots later when I disassemble With that in mind, anyone crazy enough to want to try and build this beast? I've been following this thread since you first started and am really pleased you finished it. Congratulations on an absolutely amazing model. If you're prepared to make photo instructions as you disassemble, I for one would be eternally grateful. If it's too much work, then I would really appreciate detailed photos of the suspension setup that you came up with. I particularly like the true to life push rod steering mechanism. This is a moc to be proud of! I'm really curious why you need the intricate dual valve, servo system for the rear axle steering. Could you elaborate that please? Maybe with a picture from the underside of the rear axle? Quote

You wrote that it is all about mechanical accuracy for you, but it looks really great too! I would love to build this one day, however I need to find a bigger table first :) It would give you extra work, but I think it is a shame if this super MOC is not documented. Its like walking on the moon but forgetting your camera in the spaceship. Or something :) Maybe you wrote this somewhere, but how many pieces would you estimate? It's an achievement for anything of this scale to have significant functions, but to have full RC working as smoothly as this, as well as this degree of realism is simply amazing. As others have said, it would be a terrible shame to disassemble this beast without documenting it, so I really hope you make instructions! Quote

Milan Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I am amazed how this truck drives. I know its a flat and hard surface, but still. It has a problem when it steers, though, It looks like motors are struggling, maybe because two front steerable axles are not making proportional steer lock? It looks like they steer lock is the same. Overall, as i said few times in this topic, marvelous truck, both visually and technically! Quote

It makes me happy that you like it so much @The_Brown_Hornet: This truck has caused me a lot of headaches, nearly drove me to the point of giving up. I've had to rebuild almost everything a couple of times just to change small things. Keep at it and you will get there eventually @TJoling: The valve system for rear axle steering is to allow self-steer when there is no steering input. @Askan: Mechanical accuracy may be at the top, but visual accuracy comes pretty high too If you really want to build this I would recommend a table longer than 170cm (the truck is 160cm) with access to both sides. Its a pain to lift and turn it around to reach the opposite side I have no real estimate on part, but I'm guessing some where between 5k and 10k with at least 7m of pneumatic hose. @aeh5040: It amazes me too that it works I had planned on documenting it, but thought that instructions would be a cool way of sharing the experience @Lucio Switch: Oh, yes, the steering system. The biggest pain of the whole build, I lost count on how many rebuilds it went through @Milan: The problem is the weight. Most of it is over the first axle, thereby making it heavier to steer. It performed slightly better before I rebuilt the cab with full interior adding another kilogram of weight. I will start disassembly on Monday, so any last request on detail shots? I'm going to figure out a way to get shots of the underside today. Happy Building Becca Quote

I'm a Swede, it's either Scania or Volvo, and I couldn't find as good blueprints for Volvo trucks as for Scanias. Dafgek is from the Netherlands, that country who's only car manufacturer was bought by Volvo. You remember those marvelous 340's? That's originally a DAF with Volvo badge. Although external feautures like bodywork are debatable I think Dafgek can't find anything negative abouts Volvo's automatic gearbox. Nothing changes gears so smooth as the Volvo trucks. Quote

Only truck that I like better is our dutch pride DAF XF 106 Super Space Cab. Would love to see a model off that, a 6x2 with liftable and steered second axle. Quote
