"Of course I can think for myself! I may have my higher-ups, but I was one of the original Oculoids - I was one of the first two, along with the other (currently absent) Oculoid Mastermind. These inky little fellows are like children to me... Aren't they just adorable?

Who am I working for? Someonepowerful beyond your imagination, Raider. Soon, he will be even more powerful - capable of annihilating your pestilent race. Soon, he will be known as The Eternal Reaper."

"If you can really think for yourself why are you following your leader? Why do you think that destroying civilization will fix anything? You would destroy thought. You would destroy diversity. You would destroy any little ounce of reason. Our world is not perfect, but your master's vision of the new world is a heck of a lot worse than this. Is that what you want? You want to destroy everything so that you will be nothing under this new rule, because you do realize that if you follow your master's every command you have lost your own freedom. You have lost what little of a soul you do have. Why would you ever want that?" Johon says, almost sympathetically. "The Eternal Reaper will fail. He can't win, even if we lose today. The Proggs lost to us; you know why? Because we had a cause. He will fall as the Regret did, fighting for the same nothing you fight for."

"Dreams? What are you blabbering about now?"

Siri - Iris - or whoever she was -seemed legitmately baffled.

"Well, aren't you self-important. We're not going to ravage every living thing. Just lay waste to humanoids and be done with it. You think your species is the only one that matters? You think in the grand scheme of things, humanity was meant to hold as much power as it does now? You think your specieis is the only one capable of thought? Your infestation has trampled over every living thing, oppressing them or worse. You can't evne tolerate each other; you are a disgrace to Olegaiaia, and every being to ever live on it that wasn't in your insidious little fold. Sorry, hun, but I'm afraid humanity's days are ticking down... Your specieis is quite nearly out of time.

"I don't believe Olegia was made to be ruled by us, nor do I think that we are all great. That doesn't give you the right to destroy us. Why do you think civilization is here? You act as though you are somehow better and that nature does not have balance. You think that other peoples actions calls for destruction of us all? I would like to not have to fight you, but I will if I have to." Johon, irritated at Iris, continues. "Why did you even want us anyways?" He says, looking around the room counting how many Oculoids there were and possible escape routes.

"If your problem is with humanity, then why antagonize the proggs?"

Shortly after Jeaux spoke a letter appeared from Mr. Legonardo with a piece of armor attached. Jeaux read the letter, before equipping the armor.

OOC: Jeaux's statistics have been updated with changes from Grogmas Event.

"I've seen this Eternal Reaper you speak of-- Or rather, some incarnation of it. Before embarking on this quest and every night since I have been seeing the Eternal Reaper and his effect on the world in dreams. I would pass it off as an average nightmare if it weren't for the fact that you mentioned the same name as that in the dream-- the Eternal Reaper. Quite impressive, if you ask me."

Erdathcath slowly looks up at Iris, and begins talking. "I have met your "lord" the Eternal Reaper, I know a bit of what he is capable of, what I do not know, is what part you play in this, nor why you are harassing the Proggs. From what you have said, your war is against us, humanoids, therefore leave the Proggs alone, flee, don't make us harm the Proggs anymore than necessary, we can take our battle to the streets above, or into the wilderness, my goal is to protect the Proggs, if I have to die in order for them to survive, that is fine by me, but leave them alone, as well as those in the city above, whatever superiority complex you have that has brought you this high, to the paramount of believing you are undefeatable, I can guarantee that you will regret the wrath which will greet you, if you do not leave. As for the people of this fair city above, and the humanoids who live across this world, I have no doubt they will NOT fall beneath you. Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, Orcs, and whatever other creatures that walk this earth on 2 legs, or 3, or 4, they have will-power far stronger than anything you could use against them. Because you are simply fighting for someone else, you do not have the ability to destroy a people who are fighting for their very lives, they will NOT be defeated, they will keep on going until the absolute end of the universe, the humanoid race is the strongest of all races, no matter the difficulty, whether sickness, famine, war, or poverty, the humanoid race ALWAYS finds a way to come out on top."

OOC: It seems I am able to post again!

"Raider, your a bleedin' warrior not a psychiatrist." Sarge turns to Iris

"Fergive me. I'm a drunk ignorant old man and I admire yer... Waddaya call 'em.... Aspirations, but yer going about it the wrong way. Yer got to persuade the people to put yer in power. I mean, conquerin' em's fine but it's a bit costly innit? Ever heard of National socialism? That way yer'd be willingly be put in power, giving you control of dat nation's army. Instead of conquering 'em yerself yer could plunge the human races inter a war making us kill off ourselves, then clean off the rest. Like what yer did with Jetorix, manipulation of powers. Less work fer yer. Also, if your some all powerful creation what the hell are you doing down here? It's pointless, yer should be off fighting wars not leading some racial protest 'gainst a lesser colony."

"I don't need to be lectured from some sassy dryad about who is superior and who isn't! We'll establish our dominance soon, so don't you worry your hollow little head about it, little girl... Think about it as a favor to your beloved Sylvania. For milleniums humanity has disregarded and destroyed nature... Their removal will make this Olegaiia truly beautfiul again."

"My master didn't want to reveal our entire plan, and thus instructed me to make a puppet out of a prominent human leader... A racist one, that wouldn't be suspected for objecting to the Proggs. i take this human form to seduce him, and when I got him alone... Promptly brainwashed him into our puppet. I've been pulling the strings ever since. It was I who unearthed the Colony's entrance - no human could've done it. Honestly, I'm surprised that blatant little use of magic didn't blow our cover. Than again, you all have proven yourselves remarkably daft, hm hm.

However, with Jetorix temporarily dispatched, my master finally approved my battle plan. I run the show now, heroes. Tell me, why do you think I chose the Echoes for this little ploy...?"

Zof7DUK.png

"Well, raider, I have quite the persuasive demeanor. So persuasive, in fact, i think it will only take a few drops of ether and a few sentences spoken into the echoes, and I could ensnare a huge number of Proggs in a matter of moments. It'll take some additional tinkering to get them fully obedient, but when we manage to re-ignite their warmongering ways, they'll be quite competent thralls. With them in control, we could get the document we need from this wretched Colony, kill the young monarch here, and call it a day."

The extent of the demons' plans begin to truly dawn on the heroes... With the Echoes Tower under their control, they could ensnare the hearts and minds of the Proggs in less than a single day. Systematically, one by one every district would fall under their complete control, already ravaged by the other hundreds of Oculoids running amuck...

26YZ5ec.png

"You demonic bastard...!"

Solon is immediately restrained by the Oculoids, coiling their inky tentacles around him. His arms and tail are pinned down to the floor in the demon's iron grip, not budging.

Zof7DUK.png

"Don't you DARE speak to me in that tone of voice. So, you see, I only needed to bring you to the Royal Pond to claim this tower... Now, are you ready for a little demonstration of the extent of my powers? When that is said and done, I'm sure you will all make competent slaves. Oh, don't worry your poor little heads. You'll be unbelievably happy in our service... For once, your lives will actually be used for a true cause!"

Johon tosses a diamond and amethyst to Erdathcath and Jeaux and then Aims his sword at Iris.

"You're insane. You may think you have a cause, you may think you're right... But at least I still have a soul." Johon says, preparing for battle.

Zof7DUK.png

"I've been alive for 2000 years, little boy. I've sucked out more souls than you could possibly imagine. I don't just have one soul... I have over one hundred!"

"Not a bad plan. Using the proggs as your soldiers would keep your own people out of harms way and they could deal a reasonable blow against the humans above before defeat leaving a considerably weaker opponent for you. Utilizing the proggs own invention to assist in your manipulation is also rather efficient. It has its flaws of course, as most plans do, but at its core it is quite impressive."

"You dare call me a little girl? Young lady, I am your superior in age and wisdom, you will NOT speak down to me as you would to a child." Erdathcath's anger begins to boil over in hatred, "If you have to kill me for your plan to succeed, then so be it, but far be it from being said that I Erdathcath Madilinas, bowed before pressure and allowed a simple demon to control the Proggs for her own purpose. After all, I would much rather be dead, than be a slave to you. And I believe I speak for all living kind, whether humanoid, or Progg, living or spirit, we would much rather die in freedom than bow before you and become enslaved by you for whatever purpose you wish upon us." Erdathcath pulls herself up to her full height, and prepares herself for the imminent war.

"Calm yourselves. I am sure Iris brought us here for some reason other than to gloat. If she wanted us as puppets, she could have done that at any time, if she's as powerful as she says."

Em keeps his eyes on the girl at all times. "What is it you want of us?"

"You seem to be under the mistaken impression that we really care about Eubric! Just a speck on the mao, really. The second we take what we need from this city, it essentially holds no meaning or value to us."

"Although I must concur, it is a marvelous plan. My children felt the same way." Siri purred

"You're one tenth of my age, you arboreal brat. Do not let this fragile human shell deceive you... To be frankly honest, sweetie, I have half a mind to just reach out of this vessel and strangle you myself! Wouldn't that be a sight? Tee hee hee...

Here is the wonderful thing about magic, sweetie: It doesn't matter whether or not you want to be enslaved or not. To be bluntly honest, you really have no choice!"

"Calm yourselves. I am sure Iris brought us here for some reason other than to gloat. If she wanted us as puppets, she could have done that at any time, if she's as powerful as she says."

Em keeps his eyes on the girl at all times. "What is it you want of us?"

Iris shrugs.

Zof7DUK.png

"Really, your presence here was just a matter of logistics. We needed to draw you to the Royal Pond so we could hijack the Echoes... But we also needed to bring little prince Aquos Jr. back. We couldn't just leave you little mutts unattended, soooo... Yeah. Sorry, hun, you kind of just got caught in our little dance."

But enough talk! Less inane blathering, and more brainwashing. Move aside, my young... It's time I finally get to use some power."

The Oculoids mindlessly obey their "mother", moving out of her way. The tube they were blocking is revealed, in Solon practically was growling at the sight of what the funnel they were intending on using was labelled: The Homeless Corridor.

Zof7DUK.png

"How ironic it'll be I who solves this colony's homelessness issue!"

The restrained Solon attempts to lunge at Iris, only for the Oculoid's grip around him to tighten. he was practically being strangled at this point...

26YZ5ec.png

"How dare you, you insidious b-"

The Oculoids restraining Solon crackle with electricity, sending a jolt of magic through the regent. Purple streaks of ether course through his body, charring his once pristine white shell. Smoke billows off of him and the Oculoids step back, leaving the Progg steaming and stunned.

Zof7DUK.png

"Hm. More resilient of a shell than I thought... That seems to be only a surface burn, didn't even penetrate to the flesh. Oh well.

Either way, that is no way to talk to your future mistress, young man. I'll be using you as a foot stool soon enough, so I'll let that minor infraction slide."

Iris winks at Solon before walking towards the Echoes tube, speaking clearly into it. Her voice was laced with an irrestible vibe, almost like an entire choir speaking as one; even though they weren't even being spoken to, the party can feel iris's works cloud over their minds. Before long, her insidious spells would cloud the minds of every soul in the colony...

Zof7DUK.png

"People of the Colony! Homeless Proggs. This is Iris speaking. Do not be alarmed - I am simply new management at the Echoes Tower. I would advise you simply stop what you're doing and listen to my words. In fact, you know you're going to do exactly that. You have no desire to do otherwise. Just let my words envelop you like a warm fog... Clouding over your memory, your mind, everything. it feels liberating. Now, ladies and gentlemen of the Colony... SLEEP."

The party cannot witness the Progg's collective slumber, but they were certainly experiencing it. They could feel iris's magic snake into their heads, lulling them into a hypnotic rest...

Zof7DUK.png

"It's lights out for the Homeless Corridor. My team of Oculoids will have them brainwashed in less than an hour."

Q7unWqc.png

"Impossible...!" Fydelle growls, oddly unaffected.

Zof7DUK.png

"Oh, really, Fydelle? These heroes seem nice and tired..."

Iris's voice suddenly becomes irresistible.

"Just let those eyelids close, heroes... heavier and heavier, let them drop... And... SLEEP!"

The party obeys the possessed human without delay. Their eyelids feel like lead, growing heavier and heavier with her every syllable. Their muscles intense and they practically collapse in a heap, dropping like a limp puppet. They cannot defy her suggestion, and fall into a deep, demonically induced slumber...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The party returns to a grotesque scene, a veil of clouds seemingly clearing away to reveal a scene all too familiar.

hdq5ivv.png

They were stuck in the same hellscape as before from their previous dreams... The same dead landscape, dotted with monsters and demons of all types. However, there was one definitive difference from before... They were now inside the prison they were in previously.

Although in their previous horrific experience they had gazed in at the prisoner from the outside, this time they shared a cell. The prison was dismal and gloomy, essentially a concrete box. A similar faceless figure cowers in the corner. They seemed to all be sharing the same dream... but how was that possible?

QxXVN1M.png

"...The Eternal Reaper got you, didn't he?"

Posted

The cell was as well fortified as it was gloomy - three floors, one set of extremely durable steel bars, and a solid concrete floor and ceiling.

QxXVN1M.png

"How do you not know? You've been captured and sent here, you must at least live in the area..."

Posted

"I have been wondering this for a while, why do you not have a face? And yes, we have been captured and sent here, however, we must have been put to sleep on the way here, where exactly are we?"
