"I have no intention of taking control of this Colony. I have taken what I have wanted, and I will leave Solon to clear up the rest.

I honestly don't see the purpose of bickerings like this, Raider. Do you truly think you can change my mind? Or perhaps you are simply angry I had Rhodus kill your beloved parents? You are weak, Raider. Your only victory over me only served to make me stronger... far stronger. In a way, you will be responsible for the obliteration of your kind."

"If you have what you need, then leave. Never come back to this place, don't even dare dream of attacking the Proggs or humaniods alike. Sure, build your army, see how far then can expand, but remember, if just a measly bunch of us, about 5, could defeat so many of your army, just imagine what 10, or 20, or even 30 of us Heroes would be capable of! You may think you have unlimited power, but that's the problem, everything dies at some point, so enjoy your life and reign of terror as long as you wish, but in the end humanoids and proggs alike will gladly stand hand-in-hand to defeat you time and time again."

QM Note: B&P, because I failed to clarfiy this earlier: The Regret didn't steal the documents in 79 to make Oculoids (he's been tampering with the Lifespark for years), he just wanted to supress the knowledge of the spark's existence. The content of the documents were useless to him.

"Never. Never go there."

"You think you hold authority over me, you arrogant little brat? One moment, you're mewling over the deceased like a lost child - parents you probably recall nothing of - and the next, you think you can tell me what to do here?"

The Regret lunges at Johon, striking him down with his scepter. A burst of black light emanates from the Raider's body as the Progg makes contact, Johon being tossed across the cavern like a ragdoll. He's tossed through the air in an arcing motion, colliding with an audible thump. Dark magic still courses through his body, causing his limp and bruised from to convulse and spasm. His skins turn pale, wounds and and blood spreading out like a web from where he made contact. Erdathcath runs over to his side and heals the Raider, jolting him into consciousness, but his wounds remain. The Raider staggers up in complete agony, getting as horrifying glance at how powerful his former adversary had become. This was a merciless creature, and weidled power beyond what the heroes could ever anticipate.

HP: 9000/9000

SP: 99

Ether: Unlimited

Immune to all negative effects!

World's End: In a blast of almost unparalleled dark magic, all heroes take 125 damage.

Specials decided by die roll.

Passive Specials:

Terror Aura: All heroes who target The Regret become Jinxed and Weak.

Spacetime Rewind: The Regret dabbles with some minor time travel, restoring his HP by 500 every round.

They were not locked in battle with the beast, but his cruel display towards Johon showed just how powerful he truly was.

"A pretty big improvement since the last time, eh, Johon? Would you like to know? How I achieved this?"

"To your credit, druid, you did minimize the amount of mindles shavoc Iris would've wreaked. Had you not struck her down, she probably would've enslaved 600 Proggs instead of 300. But you see... I have gained 300 soldiers, wiped out the only other Progg bloodline, and obtained the documents I needed. What's 20 Oculoids, in the grand scheme of things. Would could 30 heroes do? 100? 200? We make almost that many Oculoids in a day. Your struggle is futile."

OOC: I'm all up for fighting him! Come on guys, we are just a training montage away from killing him!

"There is something you have not accounted for, yes, you can produce hundreds of mindless slaves to help you, but because they are mindless and simply slaves, they lack something we heroes have. Bravery, Honor, and a will to live, we fight harder than any oculoid you could dream up, now, before you start ranting again, I believe it is time for you to leave!"

"The Lifespark is quite the odd artifact... It holds the power to create life. The Proggs and the Oculoids are living evidence of its might. But it can only be molded, shaped... Not directly used. To try and use the Lifespark directly would destroy the user utterly. It would obliterate the body, overwhelm the mind, erase the soul... It is too much power to handle. But when you defetaed me that night... You had shattered my old body utterly, fractured my already borken soul. Defeated and to put it bluntly, broken, there was so little of me that I could take the Lifespark's power directly. It filled in the gaps in my being, so to speak... I am literally full of life. In my weakened state, I could take 3 embers. 3. And with those measly bits of flame, I harnessed their power - bettered myself, made myself stronger than ever. Defeating me only opened the window to a far more powerful Regret. You are responsbile for allowing me to become this powerful.

And soon, I plan to devour the whole flame. The entire spark. 3 embers already made me this mighty... Tell me, what do you think the whole inferno will do? I will be invincible. Unstoppable. I will wipe your kind off of the face of Olegaia, and I will remake this world as I see fit. A world devoid of the disease that has plagued it for all of these years."

"There is such a thin line between bravery and foolhardiness, and you heroes gladly throw yourselves across it. Honor? Hardly. You heroes have a notoroius track record of betraying your employers. You lack any and all virtue."

Em quietly slips away from the group, looking around for signs of injured proggs that he could aid. He keeps a careful eye out for a certain group of five little proggs, unable to believe they, like Aquos Jr, were killed.

"Y-y-yes, Master..." she stammers, handing her Master a dark black document: Animutilav. With a snap of his fingers, The Regret makes the document vanish into thin air.

OOC: Regret has fingers?

As soon as Jeaux saw the scroll pass hands, an intense pain sparked in the deep recesses of his mind. He wasn't sure how, but he knew that scroll held the spell that had turned him into this, bound his soul to a machine and destroyed what once made him human. Perhaps it also contained the means by which he could return to his former self. He watched helplessly as the scroll disappeared from view feeling a sudden urge to attack regret, though after watching the display of power against Johon, Jeaux thought better. He may not be able to recover the scroll at the moment, but it would likely not be the last opportunity he would have.

As the regret bragged about his self-proclaimed unlimited power, a comparison began to form in Jeaux's mind, "Do you know of someone called The Eternal Reaper?"

QM Note: A foot of snow, a dentist appointment, a relative vistting, preparations for a future trip, and some actual physical Lego building later...

Em quietly slips away from the group, looking around for signs of injured proggs that he could aid. He keeps a careful eye out for a certain group of five little proggs, unable to believe they, like Aquos Jr, were killed.

The only wounded people nearby were the splattered remains of Oculoids, and a hyperventilating Iris.

OOC: Regret has fingers?

QM Note: Progg Males have 4 claws on each hand, females three. (I just went with the most visiually appealing build that makes hhim look two-fingered, much like minifigures.)

The Regret cackles once again, twirling his scythe in his hands.

S8jrq.png

"So, you remember the nightmares then? Well, not neccasarily nightmares, mind you... More like illusions, really. My prediction of the future. I thought that perhaps the veil of sleep would erase those hellish dreamscapes, but it seems I wove a vivid enough world to make it stand out in your memory. Yes, those were my doing. I figured I'd demoralize you... Soften you up pyschologically, so that Iris could break you. But it seems that Iris is the only broken one here, ironically enough. The Eternal Reaper doesn't exist yet... but he will soon. It is the title I will take when I devour the Lifespark and absorb its power. I will become the Eternal Reaper, and I will rid OLegiaia of its humanoid plague. It's a world I've dreamed of so long... It'll be perfection. When I have every last human exterminated, I will withdraw my forces and stand by, allowing history to take course once again. Should Olegaia repeat the mistakes of the past? Wipe out whatever species that arises that is similar to you filrth. Repeat over, and over, and over... Until this world achieves the perfection it has wanted for so long."

Sarge bursts out laughing at the regrets comment towards him. " Can't die at yer hands if yer don't got hands can I?"  "Then we'll be buggering off now shan't we....."

S8jrq.png

"Ah, no, don't leave yet. I still have one last treat for you..."

The Regret clutches at his scepter, coils of magic swilring around it... and points it directly at Iris' eye.

S8jrq.png

"One shot from this staff, and it will tear Iris in two. She will be dead. Now, heroes, I'd like to give you the choice: Will you spare Iris' life? You may rid the world of a demoness, the same being that brought calmity to this Colony... But, similar to that night in Luosh, so many moons ago, you may inadvertantly further my plan. Are you willing to take an unforeseen risk, and reap whatever consequences may spring forth? Or will you allow Iris to live? The choice is yours, heroes."

Iris stares at the party, trembling, tears dripping from her eye- or perhaps that was simply inky blood. She looks at the heroes pleadingly, trying to repent with a single gestrue. But even if spared, would she continue to serve The Regret?

QM Note: Last big decision of the quest!

Sarge manages to get a lash on Iris, ink spurting out of her side. She isn't dead - not yet. The Regret points his claw at Sarge, his blood seemingly running still in his veins. He collapses to the ground, suddenly exhausted, but not actually physically hurt.

S8jrq.png

"Not going to let this be done democratically, you old soldier?

You know... My powers allow me to see straight through the exterior of people. Into their souls, to be precise. And the spirit carries a whole nother spectrum... Most of the time, I barely even see peoples' outside appearance. It's a facade too easily changed. But the soul? Every person has a unique blend of colors and hues, a distinct mesh of insecurities and issues. Scars on the soul never truly heal.

Do you want to kknow what I see when I look at you, "Sarge"? A boiling red aura. Anger. You're a passionate man, Sarge. I can see that. But there's something lying under the crimson surface... A feeling of inadequacy. A feeling of not being able to accomplish anything, thus why you wanted the false "glory" of killing Iris yourself. Am I on the right track here, "hero"?"

The Regret's last word is brimming with malice and contempt.

Johon pushes Sarge backwards as he tries to charge at Iris.

"Enough!" Johon yells. "I've had it with your qualms, and Iris, although she was on his side, had no control over it! She's one of our only hopes to find how to stop him!"

"Normally I'd say no, but I do think she is different. Not when we met her, or even an hour ago. But once you cross a line you break someone. You just did that. You make them stupid so they won't question orders, but hold thier life in the balance and they realize. They realize you're not a savior. You're the monster. You are the enemy.

I'm gonna bloody cut his legs off one day. Thinks sarge

"Nobody kills for glory 'cept schoolboys and idiots."

Sarge gets up.

"Quiet down kid. He's doing a mindgame. But it won't work, because I know, that whatever we do, whether we spare her or not. IT DOESN'T MATTER!! So why make the bleeding choice.

Let's go. "

"I made them, and I will use and dispose of them as I see fit! You're quite lucky I'm even giving you a choice here, Raider. They know me as their Master, for that is exactly what I am. Both creator and commander. To them, I am a very little short of a god."

IT DOESN'T MATTER!!

S8jrq.png

"That, my overly-angry runt, is a blatant lie. This is the most clear and concise I have ever been with you. You vote for her to die, she dies. You vote for her to live, she lives. It's all that simple."

", I am a very little short of a god."

" God? What, some conman made yer up and yer don't actually bleedin exist?" Sarge pauses for a second, sneering "Or do yer just claim ter 'ave magical powers and everyone thinks yer a loony."

"To be honest, I have little appreciation of the gods as well. They're weak and spineless, relying on cloak and dagger techniques to have any semblance of power of control. Remove the smoke and mirrors, and they are nothing.

However, the reverance they have for me is something of an accidental byproduct udring their creation. Harmless, really, and I'm unsure whether or not to phase it out."

:shrug_confused:"Kill er. It's what we were payed to do but yer may aswell save us a whetstone or two. Be quick mate, I need a whiskey." Sarge looks at the regret for a second then says " You got a proper name? Like Gerald or Gavin."
