Veynom Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Here is my ultimate version of the CR90 Corvette Tantive IV. It had been a while that I wanted to modify the old 10019 Tantive IV in order to improve it seriously. When the 10198 set was released, I jumped on it but was also disappointed by several aspect of the model. So let’s review the pros and cons of each set. 10019 Rebel Blockade Runner (2001 - 1747 pieces): Pro - Its size, it is massive; - Its shape, it is recognizable and elegant Cons - No playability, no space for minifig; - Worst stickers ever (mine peeled); - Some details and construction technics are obsolete today. And about the 10198 Tantive IV (2009 - 1408 pieces): Pro - No sticker ; - Somewhat detailed interior; - Nice engine pods; Cons - No landing gear or support; - It is small!!! - The cockpit top metabricks are ugly, particularly the white color does not match with the rest; - Accessing some of the play features was complex (un-mount then open); So in the end, what I wanted to build was: - A large massive CR90 of over 100 studs; - It should have a detailed interior, easy to access without un-mounting 300 parts. - No sticker; - A landing gear that is integrated and that can support the weight of the beast. And here is the result, mostly rebuilt from scratch. Name: CR90 Corvette Tantive IV Length: 102 Studs Weight: 4.4 kg Swooshability: yes Number of SHIPs built: 1 Number of pices: 2500 (estimated) And now the pictures: CR90 Corvette Tantive IV by Veynom, on Flickr Its nice head: CR90 Corvette Tantive IV by Veynom, on Flickr So yes she is swooshable ... this picture has not been edited. TWP Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Good work modding this, the interior looks great! Quote
Veynom Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 Good work modding this, the interior looks great! Thanks. But considering I rebuilt it from scratch, I rather consider it as a MOC than a MOD. Quote
hench Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Great! With all those details and interior it is really kind of Tantive IV I was waiting to see! Quote
Chills Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 That's an awesome MOC/Mod. Did you soley use pieces from just those two sets? Quote
TWP Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Thanks. But considering I rebuilt it from scratch, I rather consider it as a MOC than a MOD. I'm sorry That's an awesome MOC/Mod. Did you soley use pieces from just those two sets? I think he didn't, I can some that don't originate from either of those sets, but I think most are. Quote
Veynom Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 I think he didn't, I can some that don't originate from either of those sets, but I think most are. Exactly, TWP is fully right and an excellent observer. Most bricks come from either of those sets but some bricks are from my bulk. Among them: - Some plates (4x8, wings, 6x..., 1x1...); - Some common bricks (1x1, 1x4); - Some slopes and inverted slopes; - Some greebling elements (bars, modified plate 1x1...) - All technic bars for the landing gears. - All pices for the inside are mostly from my bulk, particularly all tiles. Does it help ? Quote
Tariq j Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 A fantastic MOD the interior is extremely impressing, well done. The central command centre is nicely done and really resembles the movie, the smooth look on the floor is also a nice touch. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Very nice MOC! I'm not into the "play feature" thing, but it's impressive how you included them. Quote

Csacsa234 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 This is very awesome, I really liket the interior you've included, also the greebling and the design is very awesome. Great MOC Quote
Nom Carver Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Absolutely awesome!!! , I allways wanted to see this made into a star destroyer, the missing link between a UCS and a system scale or better said, the perfect combination, my only complaint is that the office takes to much space, maybe a medical centre would look nice too but there is not enough space for everything, what about the rear? a little engine room would good too. kermit Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 This is so much better than the one lego made. It is so big and packed with a lot of details. You did a great job with the cockpit area. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 The blend of the two models is very well done; at first glance it’s hard to see any difference in detailing from the UCS model, and the interior areas can be accessed in similar ways to those of the System model, but they’re more refined and detailed as befits a UCS-style model. Veynom Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Thank you all for the very nice comments. :) It rewards the efforts and the sleepness nights. Absolutely awesome!!! , I allways wanted to see this made into a star destroyer, the missing link between a UCS and a system scale or better said, the perfect combination, my only complaint is that the office takes to much space, maybe a medical centre would look nice too but there is not enough space for everything, what about the rear? a little engine room would good too. I agree with you, More details inside and an engine room would be nice. I admit I lacked time and some inspiration but maybe I will still improve that in the future. ;) Quote
jimmynick Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I saw this on Flickr the other day and I thought it was amazing - it looks like it's about the size of 10019, right? Lovely build, and great job stuffing an interior into it! Quote
Lobot Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Thanks for sharing, this is really impressive The exterior is a great improvement on the original versions, and you've got the amount of greebling just right. I hope that Lego will re-release the UCS version (or possibly an updated model) at some point; it's far too expensive to Bricklink Quote

Lovely build, and great job stuffing an interior into it! I can't find the exact length of the 10019 but mine is 82cm long (102 studs) and is at least 12 studs longer than the 10019. Mine is also a few studs wider (between 2 and 4) and a bit higher. Thanks all again for the nice comments. Quote
TWP Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 It's also been blogged at fbtb and hothbricks , in case you didn't know. Quote
Veynom Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 It's also been blogged at fbtb and hothbricks, in case you didn't know. Yes, I know as I follow these blogs but thank you anyway. It was also blogged on BrickPirate before thay. All together, my Flickr stats exploded with currently 45,000 views since Monday, resulting in more views for my Tantive IV than for all my other creations together. I am .... speechless. Quote
khatmorg Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Wow this is fantastic, totally in love with your model . Quote
Nick6314 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Awesome design, it's Better than the 10198 2009 TLG Model. Quote
Ellisss_ Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 This is perfection! I would love to build this. However currently working on a UCS venator and TFA MOCS, Ellis Quote
Veynom Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Awesome design, it's Better than the 10198 2009 TLG Model. Thank you so much. :) This is perfection! I would love to build this. However currently working on a UCS venator and TFA MOCS, Ellis Well actually, I do no think it is perfect. I want to rebuild the cockpit part to use the Lowell sphere technic instead. I already improved various details and colour-related issues (less red, more dark red) in a version 1.2 that was exposed last summer in Belgium for 2 months. When the cockpit will be redone, I will post better pictures. Thanks for the nice comment! CR-90 Corvette Tantive IV by Veynom, on Flickr Quote
