KirTech LAB Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) Hello All! During last month I’ve created a few models and I want to present one of them – it is the Harbour Crane. The model is build in minifigure-scale. It is 68 cm long and 48 cm high. There are four remote controlled functions: - crane moving; - carriage moving; - spreader up/down; - spreader lock/unlock. And of course video demonstration: Thanks for watching! Edited February 24, 2020 by desert752 Quote
piterx Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 just the other day, playing gta i was wondering why there aren't so many cranes! amazing construction man :) Quote
Doc_Brown Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Beat me too it! I was going to say the same thing! haha Excellent crane! I think its awesome with the level of control and movements. Great job. I like the colour scheme and claw mech with a micro motor! I really feel like eating popcorn all of a sudden.... Quote
Jim Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 just the other day, playing gta i was wondering why there aren't so many cranes! amazing construction man :) True! There plenty of them in the game though Indeed a very nice creation Quote
dr_spock Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Nice work. Cable management reminds of the real cranes I see at the harhour. Those cranes don't move really fast on the tracks. I was working at the port and parked my car on the track. I had plenty of time to get it out of the way. Quote
KirTech LAB Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 Thanks all! Cable management reminds of the real cranes I see at the harhour. Yes, i spent some time to study real crane mechanisms and i am happy my model seems like real machine! Of course LEGO wires are rather rigid and looks not so beautifull like real. Quote
Lakop Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 A lovely creation and I like the mix of technic and rail tracks. Nice colour as well. I've not watched the video yet. H Quote
therealjustin Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 This is so cool! How much can it lift? Quote
jantjeuh Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Very nice MOC! The spreader uses a 9V micromotor? Quote
Phoxtane Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Is the spreader really hanging by its cable? :O Quote
TinkerBrick Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 This is really cool creation. I love that it's nearly mini fig scale. Although the proportions seem not to fit. I think it needs to be higher and the bridge longer. But i really like the lowering mechanism with the cable clutch between the rubber tires. Quote
KirTech LAB Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 This is so cool! How much can it lift? Thank you! I built this model for city-containers and they are lifted without problems! It is no necessary to lift heavy weights :) Very nice MOC! The spreader uses a 9V micromotor? Yes, that's it! Is the spreader really hanging by its cable? :O Yes :) firstly i wanted to use cables, but the wire is too rigid and i decided to use it for lifting without any cables! Quote
Milan Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Not something you see every day! Strong frame and it works good. Quote
timslegos Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Nice work on the truss arms. I especially like the technique you use to grab onto the containers. tim Quote
Rishab N Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Very Nice. it reminds me of Barman's crane Quote
Hrafn Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Very nice! Will you have any opportunities to integrate it into a minifig-scale diorama, at a show or something? It would be the perfect blend of Town, Train, and Technic! Quote
KirTech LAB Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Thanks all for comments! Very nice! Will you have any opportunities to integrate it into a minifig-scale diorama, at a show or something? It would be the perfect blend of Town, Train, and Technic! My city-collection is very small, but i have many friends and i'll try to put my crane into real town :) Quote
clarkdef Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Wow, nice to see something other than a vehicle. I was playing GTA and I looked at a crane and said imagine if you made this outta technic (Psn clarkdef)... Anyway it takes some true ambition to make something like this, but actually looking at it, I think maybe more doable than relised, so we may see more of this in the future. Quote
