Soto better get bailed our of jail. Without him this happy ending couldn't have been possible. He is the one who knew Nadakhan's weakness after all. Shame we didn't get to see Soto and Nadakhan even look at each other.

Hopefully the ninja go back for Echo Zane and Gizmo (the little robot).

Ronin would be without that lot of money he got for capturing the ninja.

All the Sky Pirates are in the other realms (which Flintlocke said that they were treated much nicer in).

Clouse will appear in the next season, perhaps being the one to bring all the villains back for season 7.

Exactly! I just don't get why people hate the ending do much! Also, it's not all a drama, things do happen, just in a different timeline which has now been erased.

But that timeline, as you said yourself has now been erased. So everything that happens in Ninjago from now on, will be unaffected by the timeline of this entire season.

Overall, this season was okay. It was good to see character and story development, despite the fact that it's all become meaningless now. Now there is a plot hole opened along with the final wish: what about Jay's eyepatch? Now that the history has been erased, that means he never actually met the pirates and they never gave it to him, yet he sees himself with it in his reflection. Maybe the reflection was supposed to show his future affected by this season's events, but that 'future' is now destroyed, so technically his reflection is different now? I won't worry about plot holes though, there are too many of them in Ninjago anyway, I can only laugh.

Another thing that's laughable is that literally every season has someone's death in the end, then main characters mourning his death, but in fact it turns out that they are alive. They should just kill someone off for real if they want me to care or get emotional about his/her death - or if they think that's too dark for the show, just not deal with that stuff in the first place.

I normally get angry about 'the whole thing is a dream' concept but lately more shows, movies and videogames have that sort of ending so now I think I can get over it, although in this case, it's sad to see that some good plot points of this season will never become relevant again. I give this season 7/10. Tournament of Elements was definitely worse.

The problem with Rebooted was that ultimately it reset its own timeline; the only exception being Zane, Cyrus Borg and (to an extent) PIXAL. The problem with Tournament of Elements was that the villain was terrible, his end goal wasn't threatening, and ultimately anything they introduced never returned again in any meaningful capacity. Personally I thought Possession was awful, but at the very least it had repercussions, introduced Ronin and opened the scope of NINJAGO. And the problem with Skybound is the utterly ridiculous plotholes and the complete reversal of anything and everything that happened apart from Jay x Nya fanfics becoming canon again.

To be honest, the ending didn't bother me too much. It just made what was an otherwise fantastic finale incredibly mediocre. It didn't leave me frustrated like ToE or Possession did, but it was still disappointing.

Shame we didn't get to see Soto and Nadakhan even look at each other..

That would be an interesting ending. They finally meet, fight, and Soto does or something, then the Ninja fight him and they avenge him!

But uh, the ending as it was was pretty good. A lot of drama for a LEGO show, haha. This was probably my favorite season, I didn't want the sets that much now, but I NEED that Lighthouse Siege!

EDIT: Oh, and why did he need to have his dragon flying in front of the screen? Sheesh.. kids.

I kind of have mixed feelings about this season. I enjoyed it, but there were a lot of things wrong with it in my opinion.

As for the finale, I wish Nya had stayed dead, I've never liked her. Moving on from that, Nadakhan was unbelievably stupid in the final two episodes. He let someone who he knew was against him play him like a child. I won't even dwell on that victory dance or whatever he did after he beat Jay. But then again, it's also revealed that he was too stupid to use his own Sword of Souls, so I guess stupidity is a consistent part of his character. I agree with what other people said about the final wish. Using the "it all never happened" card was lazy and made this entire season irrelevant.

As for the season overall, Nadakhan was written terribly. He's so inconsistent, at first he values his crew and simply wants revenge on the ninja, and then suddenly he becomes a selfish power maniac who always used his love for power, until the finale when he suddenly actually loved her. I don't know what to think of him honestly. He looks cool, but his character was lackluster at best.

The whole Jay is adopted thing was very random. Cliff Gordon was an awful choice for his real father, and did not develop Jay's character at all. It was such a missed opportunity not making his dad Cyrus Borg. I feel like the moment when Jay confronts Borg about him being his father would have been very interesting, but oh well. Another small thing is that I wish Jay had actually lost his eye while aboard Misfortune's Keep. He looked cool with an eyepatch, and it would've have showed real strength of character is he resisted the wish even faced with something so severe. Of course I wouldn't have expected them to show him loosing his eye on screen, but they could have just made it so that after the fight against Dogshank he wears the patch and another character like Clancee mentions him loosing the eye.

My main gripe with the season, however, is that it was not about Jay. It was about Jay's relationship with Nya, as every episode that centers around Jay always is. The entire season was basically a longer version of "Once Bitten, Twice Shy". I truly wish the season had just been about Jay, the funny guy, having to be serious for a change because his friends and home are threatened by an evil Djinn. It was so unnecessary to throw the relationship in there, and it seems like it's the only way the writers want to develop Jay. He wasn't treated as his own character, he was just one half of a relationship.

Even after that rant, I did not hate the season. I truly enjoyed some episodes like "My Dinner with Nadakhan" and "Operation: Land Ho". The Sky Pirates besides Nadakhan were interesting characters as well. Maybe I just expected too much of this season because Jay is my favorite ninja, but I feel like the writing was particularly bad in this one. Overall, I think a 5/10.

...what? Since when has Lloyd at any point in canon ever been referred to as holding the power of nature, and since when has he ever controlled plant life?

The show established that green ninja = all the ninja, explaining why he had all their powers prior to before the show nerfed him.

It was also established that all 4 weapons = Ninjago.

The games also describe Lloyd's element as a leaf.

By nature, I don't mean plant life, I mean nature "energy", explaining the green effect.

I think it was even mentioned by a few people from LEGO once.

Oh, and why did he need to have his dragon flying in front of the screen? Sheesh.. kids.

He did that so people can tell if someone stole his video.

He did that so people can tell if someone stole his video.

Which people did. Lots of them.

The dragon was as pointless as recording it off the TV instead of being patient enough to upload it, at least, in standard definition. It's not like someone was going to upload it "first" beforehand.

Loved this last episode.

I'm hoping for more drama like what we got here in the future of the series. Sure most of what happened has been pointless due to the endgame, but I'm a fan of that sort of endgame (when it's done right, like Ninjago did). I'm just glad that the two characters most effected remember. I'm going to enjoy watching that relationship blossom.

He didn't record it off the TV on purpose though. So may as well watermark it, I guess.

I actually rather liked this season despite the finale. While I didn't like the whole time reversal thing, what I loved about the season is that is was essentially just character development- and a lot more than we've gotten in past seasons.

You're right about that. The only one on it's level in terms of development was year of the snakes.

I thought of an ending. Wu, Misako and the replacement Ninjas bar Soto go to Ninjago and try to get somewhere safe. The whole wedding takes place as it did. Clancee, Double on and Monkey Wretch are taken to other realms. The ninja and Soto arrive after fighting off the pirates. Nadakhan creates the Nada-clones to chase away the ninja. Soto meanwhile duels Nadakhan, threatening to seal him away as he had done before, but ultimately gets defeated and thrown outside. He lays there unconscious before finding other Sky Pirates somewhere else. Everything with the ninja and Nadakhan stays the same until the final fight. Nadakhan has created many more clones and other enemies for Soto to fight, who now reappears with the Sky Pirates and Dogshank joins in. They lose the fight as each ninja is turned into gold (?). Nadakhan gets shot with the venom by Flintlocke and his powers weaken. Delara turns back into Nya again, all the Ninjas return to normal, while the small band of remaining pirates stop fighring. Nya is dying. Jay makes a wish to undo her death, to save Ninjago from the falling debris of New Djinjago and to undo the wishes he had done to the ninja (so we get young Lloyd back) and for hI'm to banis himself from Ninjago forever (yeah I got nothing for the wish). He grants the wish. Nya comes back to life and the land of Ninjago comes back together, Lloyd turns young again. Nadakhan is gone. We skip to the future were we see Ninjago City getting rebuilt as some buildings were damaged by debris and other occurrences when New Djinjago was destroyed. We get to the police station where all the Ninja, Replacement Ninja, Wu, Misako, Flintlocke and Dogshank are congratulated by the Commissioner for helping defeat Nadakhan. Then we see all the heroes interact with each other. Soto becomes the captain of a new crew, accompanied by Flintlocke, Dogshank and a few others. There first quest is to find a way to get Clancee, Doubloon and Monkey Wretch back. Zane and Echo Zane talk, Skylor and Kai, Jay and Nya etc. talk ad well. Sensei Wu says something wise or something foreboding about the next season. Cue credits.

Kai - Fire

Jay - Lightning

Cole - Earth

Zane - Ice

Lloyd - "green"

It was also established that all 4 weapons = Ninjago.

Which is related to this, how?

The games also describe Lloyd's element as a leaf.

The games are not canon. Especially the web games.

By nature, I don't mean plant life, I mean nature "energy", explaining the green effect.

To bad we never got to see a sky duel between Misfortunes Keep and the Destinys Bounty and here are a few questions:

#1 I would like to know if Nadakhan's power was strong enough to wish Djinnjago had never been destroyed.

#2 wasn't it the Sword of Souls that had the power to create New Djinnjago.

#3 will some one else use Misfortunes Keep, now that it's back to being a regular ship

#4 does Jay's last wish mean Gordon's alive.

#5 did the ninja meet little Nelson or was that erased as well.

I do hope next season provides us with a good reason as to why they reset the timeline as this ending really felt like someone in Cloud Kingdom spilled some ink on their destiny parchments. But then again I did question that about Wrong Place, Wrong Time and waited three months only for the following episode to completely gloss over the time traveling/Mega Weapon non-existent problem.

For #5 yes, they met little Nelson. They're on the roof of the hospital right after he helped them out.

They go back to the time when they've already meet Lil Nelson, also, he might has an important role next season.

...what?

I probably sound really weird right now, but I mean: The power one gets from nature, hence it's green and possibly golden color.

And Ninjago wouldn't be without the golden weapons, which create earth, fire, ice and lightning. And the world of Ninjago = nature. The games only back this up further.

Until season 5, people thought that Lloyd's power was either energy or nature, so I hope I don't sound like an debating kid or something

And what I thought was that since Lloyd lost half of his powers, he only has power/energy left over...

#4 does Jay's last wish mean Gordon's alive.

Yes! And he can go to him and talk to him about his mother!

The Hageman bros said that they're saving Jay's mom for the future, this could be it!

I just remembered the Realm Crystal is still in Hiroshi's Labyrinth so the rest of the Sky Pirates can come back, which is good as all the Sky Pirates were likeable (also, how does Doubloon know Spinjitzu? I'd like to find the out).

For the next season, we have Little Nelson having a bigger role, Cliff Gordon is alive, Cole will learn to transform between human and ghost (based off the minifigures), Pythor, Kozu, Cryptor, Chen and Yang return and Ronin will also have a bigger role than in Skybound (he does have a set after all).

Posted

The Skypirates might be back, there are still many mysteries about them. Also, as we know, Ninjago will last for a few more years, so I guess there might be another skybound season, like hageman brothers always say in their tweets, they have to save up ideas for the future seasons.

Posted

Maybe one or two, but how many people in Ninjago actually know where they came from? Would Cyrus Borg be willing to give someone the Realm Crystal to bring them back, when are potentially still loyal to Nadakhan and may go to any end to find him, who may or may not remember the events that didn't happen? If Nadakhan does remember, it's bad news for everyone seeing as the main cast have no wishes left.

I think I'm the only one who loved the ending...

Seriously, I knew far in advanced that history would be erased at the end, but the real shocker here is that Jay and Nya remember. Their relationship did NOT revert back to square one, like virtually everything else in Ninjago does.

(Seeing Garmadon cheat death or just outright die in every season so far was frustrating, to the point where I was glad he didn't show up in Skybound, on a slightly related side note.)

Meanwhile, Jay and Nya remembering reminds me a lot of episode 15 of the last season of "The Flash", where Barry travels back in time a day. In the next episode of The Flash, Barry learns that sometimes history repeats itself with time travelling. Parts of Skybound can still happen, such as Ronin acting like an actual bounty hunter and Skylor appearing with her new variant. This also undoes "mistakes" such as the loss of P.I.X.A.L., the destruction of the Realm Crystal, etc. And all it takes for Skybound to "happen" is for some fool to find the teapot.

Also, after recovering from a love triangle that really divided fans, seeing Jay and Nya's relationship develop in this season was worth it. We saw Nya's desire to stand out, Jay's selfishness and maturity, and even had an episode where the two discussed their relationship and the problems they had. LEGO TV shows don't often take the time to pause and explain characters in depth like that, but it was a breath of fresh air for me.

And the ending? Well, it's the first time I've really cried over anything LEGO-related in 9 years since Matoro died. I'm not the kind of guy who cries often, but I couldn't contain it.

While Skybound may soon be "forgotten" in Ninjago, it won't be forgotten in real life for a long time. 10/10 for the full season.

Exactly! This ending is so beautiful! This season has literally bring Ninjago to a more mature level! So I'll rate it 9.5/10 ( well, still can't beat rebooted )
