Started off the other night making these for something to do:

And then of course I had to add to it:

Pretty simple MOC, but I'm still pretty new to the whole AFOL scene and I was psyched to be able to put all this together without having to run to BrickLink or Shop@Home. The Dalek and K9 are based on designs I saw online but modified a bit based on looks and, of course, what I had on hand (it was so frustrating to not find a dome piece that was a solid dark gray!). The Doctor is cannibalized from a bunch of Hobbit and Harry Potter guys and a bad-but-I-hope-it-just-looks-like-its-wavy scarf decal. And it really should be white roundels on a light gray wall but I didn't like the look of that as much.

I one day want to go back to this and try and figure a way to make the roundels look recessed into the wall, but for my first go at it I'm happy with the result.

OMG. I never say that, because I'm old. But I say that this time because I _am old_ and used to stay up late and watch PBS, tuned-in to see Tom Baker run around in the Tardis chasing cellophane aliens around abandoned space stations. My memories are now all replaced with Lego equivalents (it happens), so this MOC gave me a real sense of deja vu - it does a great job of recreating the show and aesthetic.

I don't know - I like the "roundels on studs" as is, if only because it feels innocent and honest like the production values of the old Dr. Who. Then again, maybe it's all nostalgia talking - definitely try it the other way and see which one you like better.

I think the scarf decal is a fine detail (the front is great) But why not go all out and have the decal wrap/cover the top of the torso/ neck area, then put the head down on top of it? Eitherway, I like that a decal would extend over the brick like that -

Great build!

Thanks for the kind words, folks! I see such amazing work posted around these parts that actually posting my own stuff is kind of intimidating!

@WaysofSorting - That's a good idea about the decal extending over the shoulders and to the back. I may have to try that sometime if/when I update this.

@TheStrategist - It bugged me at first, but it has grown on me ever since.

@kermit - Yeah, the Dalek's head dome was one of the buzz droid's pieces from a Star Wars set... from one of the various Jedi Starfighter kits, IIRC, but I can't remember which one.
