Mutant Orc Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Very nice, but we can't possibly have him without Snowy! Quote
eurotrash Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Looks great! I can't wait to see the other characters! Quote
SandMirror38 Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 Very nice, but we can't possibly have him without Snowy! Too true, I've been trying to find a old mould of a white dog, which (with some customising) would be perfect for Snowy. Although I can't find the mould on BL :( Hopefully I can finish up and upload another character today or tomorrow Quote
KingPixels Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 This one looks literally perfect: http://www.firestartoys.com/Shop/LEGO-Minifigures/Animals/5033-LEGO-Animals-Mini-Figure-~-Dog-~-White-.html Quote
SandMirror38 Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 So hopefully someone here can help me, I found the dog a while ago in LDD and here is a picture of it. https://www.flickr.com/photos/legolover2015/10075084563/ On the right, it is possible someone could look into this and find the dog for me on BL? Hammerstein NWC Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 This one looks literally perfect: http://www.firestart...g-~-White-.html That is Snowy for sure!! good spot Quote

Don't know if you saw my comment. You can buy a Snowy-looking dog here: http://www.firestart...g-~-White-.html Your link is broken so I don't know if it's the same one. Quote

Oops, Would you be able to get a picture of that dog next to a minifigure for sense of scale? I brought the Stephanie soccer friends set and am customising that dog. Though your one looks great! Captain Haddock should be up late today -NO PROMISES!- I need to finish off the cap and hair Quote
KingPixels Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Looking at this picture it seems like the one I was thinking of will be too big. Oh well. Quote

SandMirror38 Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 or print one. may I ask how I would print one? Quote
raminator Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 with a 3D-Printer. There are some companies like Shape-Ways where you can print your 3d-models. Or maybe there´s someone in the community that has a 3D-Printer whom you could ask. Quote
KingPixels Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 3D printers are usually too low-resolution for LEGO parts. The surface would be like plastic sandpaper. Quote
WaysofSorting Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 @kingpixels - I know of some that have good results taking a printed part and soaking it briefly in a solvent like acetate or something. It smooths the edges out remarkably. @Sandmirror - Great job, I like the decal - I'd almost argue for making his hair even bigger... I can't say I read much of Tin Tin as a child, though as an adult I'm always envious of how amazing the art style is - of the detailed backgrounds working with the crisp lines of the characters. Very interesting comic. Didn't they just make a movie about this? OR it's in the works? I can't imagine anyone can "get it right." I anticipate a disaster...but that's just me. Quote
SandMirror38 Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 ^ Ha ha. Thanks. I thought the same myself about the hair... As for the movie it's been out for 2 years and is bloody amazing! They're onto the 2nd one and I've seen the first 48 times.... Quote
Bobskink Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 As for the movie it's been out for 2 years and is bloody amazing! They're onto the 2nd one and I've seen the first 48 times.... Really, no offence intended, but I refuse to see the movie. I really loved the comics as a kid, and the cartoons were cool aswell, since they are almost 100 % identical to the comics. But a Holywood production about one of my childhood hero's, I prefer not to see that. I can only be disapointed, even if the movie looks great.. Have you red the comics? To get back on topic, that is why I like it that your custom looks like the comic version ;) Quote
SandMirror38 Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 ^ Each to their own The tintin books were actually the first books i read by myself and I still absolutely love them! I am basing majority of my minifigures off the comics, although it is hard to find comic looking faces as I don't want to use decals... Quote
SandMirror38 Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 (edited) The wait was worth it! Look at the first post for Professor Calculus and Capt. Haddock. I am really happy with how these two turned out Edited October 13, 2013 by SandMirror38 Quote
KingPixels Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Professor and Haddock are spot on! Haddock is my favourite so far! Quote
