That double wide is pretty awesome, I'm looking forward to seeing how the ground floor comes out. Are you going to leave the restaurant entrance in the same place?

Yes, i leave it there.. tonight i'll start with the ground-floor restaurant-area... maybe make it a bit deeper, and for the rest, we'll see what happens when building....

Looking good LegoSjaak! Maybe use that recess for a little bar?

That is a good idea... i already built a stove to sit by and maybe a can make a bar out of the spare bricks... well see.... ! Thanks for the idea!!

Beautiful! Very curious what the recess in the back of the dining room (bottom right of the photo) will be...

I took your idea and made a bar in the recess of the dining room.. here ae some pics of the almost ready creation! 12037563335_ec0184b4a1_b.jpg12037827053_6a7cb994cd_b.jpg12038381876_043012f782_b.jpg12037922464_21d3878030_b.jpg Greetz LegoSjaak

I love your building from the front side, LegoSjaak. But I am not too sure about the stairs going up the attic and down again to the second patio. How about extending the recess to the first floor and then putting on a pent roof? Just an idea...

Yeah I love what you've done here, the extended façade is perfect and the bar inside is a fantastic touch. I have to agree with the above comments on the stairs out back though, I'm not sure that works.... But I like the patio extension on the other side but the stair just don't do it for me in that configuration...

Great work all the same!!

That bar, this build. Simply amazing!

I have to echo the comment about the stairs to the attic. Any plans for it?

Hi all, i think you guys are right... my idea was, that the second floor was the living space of the cook.. he could go upstairs to his own appartment and then go downstairs to his own private patio, but it does not look 100%. When i took the pictures, i saw that it was looking a bit crappy... There are bricks left, and i think that extending the recess to the first floor could be done.. I'll just give it a try, and i like the idea... I could also extend the 'second' patio a bit, so it could be reached from the first floor via the french balcony... but GCO's. Sins, Timmyc's, and the Jersey Brick Guy's comment is for me the most likely.....

I'm really happy with the bar.. i think it worked out pretty well.. and remember, this is all made out of only 2 Lego 10243 sets.. nothing else...well, except for the 16 x 32 baseplate.... :hmpf_bad: Thanks, Sin, for bringing up the idea.. it seems logical to but a bar there, but i did not come up in my head.. so credits to you!

The front of the groundfloor worked out pretty well.. i narrowed one of the original windows by 6 to 4 studs wide.. Sadly there weren't enough dark blue curtains on the inside for 5 windows, but that's okay for me...

So, work to do tonight... but when i look at the sparebricks, there are possibility's.... i'm at work now, so i have to wait untill i'm home and the kids are in bed.. :sceptic: ... but okay...

Thanks for the comments!

Fantastic! Three cheers to Sin for the bar idea. LegoSjaak, this is gorgeous. I want to see a city block now...

Well.. if i'm ready, i'll fit it in the rest of the modular street.... i own all 9 modulars, and an extra Pet shop and the Town Hall is an XXL version...so...it should look good! Total of 12 modulars..on this pictures the Town Hall is still the normal width.....Hope to take some pictures soon of the complete modular block!..8814244709_37ffbaa6f5_b.jpg

@LegoSjaak: Your double PR looks fantastic. I'm getting my first one today (or tomorrow), and I'll definitely try to get another one to make it double. This set seems to be one of the best lately - looks excellent, and still has room to be expanded and upgraded to look even more spectacular.

Just to share the "thin" version next to others:

it looks great between the other modulars, and works especially well next to the Green Grocer.

GCO, you mean like this?:12057547414_5e4b40e37d_z.jpg12058024336_f679c97a5e_z.jpg12058029386_19a8bfcdcd_z.jpg12057451293_1a08d95924_z.jpg

Is there really that big of a drop off from the artist's studio to the stairwell? Or am I missing something? It looks like you'd have to leap up/down to get in there.

Otherwise, I like the separate patio area and the kitchenette area very much.

Part of me wants to buy two or at least MOD one set with extra pieces. It seems too small otherwise, but I don't think I need it as big as two sets either.

It's fun to see how others change theirs though. Keep up the interesting/fun work!

I tend to MOD all of my modulars into bigger versions and was wondering how best to do that with the PR. The double height doesn't quite do it for me, it seems too thing, but I really like yours LegoSjaak, I will do something similar once I finally get this one.

But do I buy two of these now, or just one and the Simpson's House??? I still have to buy all the new City vehicles, plus so many new Friend's set. Why does Lego insist on putting out so many good sets at the same time. I'm just glad I don't collect any of the licenced themes or I would be totally broke.

My idea was more like a pent roof (a flat plate, slightly angled) instead of the second patio, but this may even look better. Very well done, LegoSjaak!

Hello Dr. Lego, it seems that there has te be made a big leap, but i put in a stud high step, so a minifig never has to take a step bigger than one stud.. You can see the step in dark grey, just behind the black fence... but is hard to see it on these pictures.. Anyway.. i cleared that 'problem' already!! I'm pretty proud of the kitchenette... it worked out well..and first i wanted a door to the sleeping area, but i took it away, to leave the whole apartment a bit open...! Now i should tile the whole floor...but there aren't hardly any tiles left.. so i would cheat if i say this was built out of two sets.. so that is why i leave it without tiling... ! Thanks for the compliments!!

Fun whow people interpretate things different... ! But i'm happy with it..only the pictures should have been taken without flash... that looks way better....!!

Anyway thanks again for your idea!

I was also thinking about an extra second floor... but what to do with the other parts.. there are so many... so that is why i built this.. maybe i change something later..but for now it is okay.... Hope to put it in the modular layout next thursday!!

:classic:

Great layout.. Siwssbrick.. i like the extra height, but i would not put it next to the Green Grocer, due to the color... maybe you can put it next to the Pet Shop...? I modded my PR, but keeping everything original is also cool... I did that for years but now i like expanding buildings or MOD them a bit!! They look good with the original baseplates!! Nice trees too!

Really like the expanded upstairs apartment and kitchen area! My PR arrives tomorrow (according to FedEx) and I can't wait...

...This 'waiting-feeling' is also a special kind of feeling.. it adds some extra magic to the set!! Have a fun build in advance and enjoy your PR!! Hope to see pictures when its ready.. do you have other modulars to put it next to?
