SwissBrick Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Looks like a part of Tower Bridge. Correct @LegoSjaak You're right about the color, might change but put it next to GG because of the height... Will also mod the upper middle window... Great double-width mod! Quote

Will also mod the upper middle window... Great double-width mod! Thanks Swissbrick.. but why would you change the upper middle window... now the pillars besides the french balcony will go all the way up the building to the roofpart.....don't you thin k you break up this line then? Anyway it looks pretty good with an extra floor! Quote
parksroad Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 ...This 'waiting-feeling' is also a special kind of feeling.. it adds some extra magic to the set!! Have a fun build in advance and enjoy your PR!! Hope to see pictures when its ready.. do you have other modulars to put it next to? Greetz, LegoSjaak Thanks It's actually my first modular, and since I'm still a student it may have to stay that way for a while. But I'm very tempted seeing the cities others have built... Quote
antp Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) Last weekend I finally build my Parisian Restaurant (that I bought the weekend before). I noticed two errors in the instructions (not a big deal though), not sure if they were mentioned as I didn't read very carefully the topics to not spoil the joy of discovering all the details while building the set. But I quickly read the least pages and didn't find info about these errors. 1. The "fence" part is different The instructions use http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=30055 but I got the newer http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=15332 Not uncommon when small changes occur in parts molds, but usually they are less noticeable in instructions. 2. A 1x1 brick seems missing from the "step inventory" In the right image there were four olive 1x1 bricks added (compared to the left one), but only three were mentioned in the inventory of that 6th step. None was missing at the end of the build, fortunately. Edited February 4, 2014 by antp Quote
TheLegoDr Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 ^That's very interesting! I wonder how many people received those fence pieces and who really noticed. I kind of like the instruction version better. Not as blocky. But I guess the new version might be more functional with studs across the top. I assume they must have misprinted the instructions for the 1x1 brick since none were missing at the end of the build. The inventory is right, just the part call out is off. I have to get PC still before I get this, but I can't wait to pick this up. Very neat in person! Quote
Follows Closely Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Mine did match the instructions. Interesting. Quote

It's not noticeable at all once you put the 1x4 tiles over the studs anyway (and maybe the better grip on the tiles is why they were switched?) But it certainly threw me at first, and I had to check the inventory to make sure there was only one kind of 1x4 fence piece in the set. Edited February 5, 2014 by parksroad Quote
SwissBrick Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) Just changed location of PR, let's have a café next to the town hall... IMG_0663 IMG_0648 IMG_0656 IMG_0662 IMG_0654 Edited February 8, 2014 by SwissBrick Quote
blksuperman2 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I always love the pictures of your city SwissBrick. They're shot very well and the placement of your buildings are impressive. It gives me inspiration. Quote
jtr Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 just finished the build myself. I loved the build, there were some interesting building techniques, but it does seem small when compared to the pet shop. Quote
Captain Settle Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I ordered mine a week and a half ago and received last Friday, despite the fact that it said it was out of stock on Shop@Home. I've only built the first floor, but I love it, especially all the interior detail. I'm just worried about how it will look next to my only other modular, the Town Hall. Quote

Well, a town hall in real life is often set apart in a plaza or square of some kind. Maybe the restaurant can be down the street Quote
Xyver Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Not real happy, finally got around to ordering my Parisian Restaurant from S@H and they are limiting it to 1 per customer. I realise they want to stop people hoarding the set, and supplies may be low at the moment, but surely they must realise that many AFOLs buy 2 of those to MOD into a bigger building, like I always do. Am I going to have to wait 6-12 months before they become available in local stores before I can build my extensions? Quote
Super Goblin Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Can't you just place two seperate orders. Quote
SheepEater Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I'm done building mine. Very pleased, truly a worthy successor to the 10185 Green Grocer (making this my 2nd modular). The building techniques demonstrated in the build are truly mind-blowing, especially the 3rd tier. I had a problem with one of the white clam part, though. It kept opening. To solve the problem I forced an inward bending of each of the halves then closed the clam again. So far so good. If the plastic eventually "remembers" its original alignment though, the clam will probably open again and I'll have to contact Lego. I gave each of the females a more fitting face, then filled up every seat with my numerous city workers. The first hour of the build was pretty boring with all that tiled floor, but worth it Quote
Boettner Builds Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I can't wait to get this one. It is, by far, the most beautiful one yet... Quote
rollermonkey Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I finally succumbed and am starting a modulars collection. Fire Brigade isn't stupidly expensive just yet, so I'm starting there. :) Quote

elleana Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I can still find it locally for retail, though I suspect that's probably not the case for people in the good old US of A. Quote
rollermonkey Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Where did you find it for a decent ammount? What do you consider a decent amount? :) Quote
Colossus Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Congrats on your find! While I started my modular collection too late, I'm considering Bricklinking Wetwire's Ghostbusters HQ. I'll either use it for said set, or an old firehouse. Decisions, decisions.... Man, I love Lego. Quote
rollermonkey Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Around $200 or a little more. Ah well then. It meets my definition of a decent amount, but not yours. ;) Quote
rollermonkey Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Yes. It was US$289 from Amazon w/ free shipping, and it looks like I'll beat that from this other location. Either way, it's a far better deal than possible on GG, CC or MS. :) Quote
