Regarding my BlueTooth connection problems from two weeks ago, LEGO consumer support replied that I had followed all the right steps. So now they asked if I could contact their dedicated Mindstorms technical support team to sort out what could be going on. "They can troubleshoot the problem and either resolve the issue or help to get a replacement part." But they are only open on weekdays during office hours. I did not have the time, yet. But tomorrow I have a day off work.

I finished the first official robot GRIPP3R on last weekend. :classic:

You'll find some thoughts on my blog, some pictures and a very short video.

This time in German only because there are no much information on the internet in German about EV3 so far.

Hi there

I have the Mindstorm 31313 and I love it.

I consider getting the 45544 Education EV3 core set too.

I´ve downloaded blocks to my Home edition for gyrosensor and ultrasonicsensor.

Assuming Home edition software now works with the education core set?

I´m not really interested in buying an expensive education license :sceptic:

How do I find build- and programming guides?

Hi Darthlars,

Welcome to EB!! :sweet:

You can start by checking out the Mindstorms Index and Mindstorms Progamming (needs work) topics for more information. They are linked in my footer.

It starts by choosing an appropriate programming environment. Will you be using the default software or are you comfortable using a third party programming environtment?

Thanks, it’s a great forum...

I have been there but I can´t find the answer.

At a start I will be using the default software and when I get the hang of it I maybe go to third party programming.

Anywhere to find the buildings instructions for the educations models without buying the educations software?

I don't think the instructions for the Education model are available as a separate PDF.

Since the images can be exported from the software, eventually this PDFs will turn up. But it's in the grey area.

Well in that case is too expensive. 400 euro for the set and 120 euro for the software :cry_sad: Is a bit over the top.

Is a shame Lego doesn’t offer build and programming instructions cheaper when you don’t need the rest of the software.

I will stay tuned if something new happens.

Thanks for the support :classic:

The instructions will eventually be available somehow, but not at the moment.

What robot are you interested in?

The gyroboy and sorter is very cool. I think I can build the rest of the models just from the pictures.

While I was away I had a good play with the software and built 2 of the models (Main one and the Scorpion), I also used the iPhone app which worked really well, read the help. Think they did a very good job on the Retail and Edu software.

The first time I hooked up the two, they were happily talking to each other ... My son would shake the iPad, and the rapt3r would dance side to side. Now, mysteriously, they categorically REFUSE to talk to each other. The EV3 brick simply refuses to pair with the iPad ... I wonder if the slithering contraption (snake) scared/traumatized the iPad for good ....

DrJB I moved your question over here. Please scroll back a bit. Some issues have been covered in this topic.

Have you tried powering the brick down, restarting it, going to iPad settings screen, making a new connection from there and then start the application again?

I am considering buying the education software, but I can’t seem to find it :sceptic:

I can only find it on the UK/american/german education website, and that´s no use, since I´m Danish.

Where did your buy your education software?

Why do you want the educational version?

I have bought it, but if I could reconsider, I probably wouldn't. Data logging is the only benefit...for 100 bucks.

Because I want the building instructions and some guidance for programming... Is the instructions for the education set available without buying the education software? Can you help?

For guidance I would recommend waiting a bit and buying this (e)book:

http://nostarch.com/ev3lab

This will get you started and it has some cool robots to build, even bipeds!

If I could, I would help you out with the building instructions, but I don't think Lego would appreciate it if I distributed the included pictures. Maybe these will be made available at some point.

My advice; wait for the book, it's much cheaper and play around with the examples and robots in it. When you are done, the building instructions (or LDD files) for the educationel sets might be available.

Hi all!!!

When I turn on the EV3 Brick, it takes too much time to start up!!! And the same in order to turn off it...!

Is it normal? How many seconds does your EV3 Brick take to turn on and turn off?

Thank you!

Unfortunately this is normal behavior :hmpf_bad:

At my school we just received 3 EV3's, maybe the 4rth today. 3 for the FLL and with the last one we hope to create an EV3 version of this project! (well, my [high school] students of course ;))

Nice! Suddenly I feel like opening a school myself
