Posted October 7, 201311 yr Hi guys, this is my first effort at doing a MOC modular for my city. I'm usually a happy kit builder but thought I'd start venturing into the wide world of MOC's after all the inspiration on this forum. I am a keen cyclist and so thought my city could do with a bicycle store. I did the early plans on LDD. I plan to add more "architecture" to the building but I thought it would be easier to at least have most of the structure built before it went for an upgrade. As it is now, its basically a big rectangular building using whatever spare bricks I have in my very limited stock pile. Please excuse the shoddy camera work Frontal view being dominated by the TH. Is the 1x1 sign obvious enough? Angled shot showing the small park in front of the store: Side view showing the Cafe and seating area and view of the bikes on the level above: 2nd level interior shot showing the retail space: Cramped but workable: The maintenance area is lacking tools. There is a bicycle holder on the opposite wall but its too tight to take a photo: First floor retail space: Thanks for viewing :)
October 8, 201311 yr Really great and inspirational - I'm enjoying my first "grown up bike" in years, trying to find out how fast I can commute to work. Or even better, FROM work home. With the post work traffic crunch, I am usually home before my compatriots are even pulling out of the commuter lot...so I'm a real advocate for that. Anyway - I digress - great build. Lots of details in a compact space. I like the tool space under the stairs and how the bike stores seems a part of the active community and park outside...though no bikes in the park! Such is life - many lookers and no buyers. I enjoy all the "not bikes" they are selling - those little scooters look promising. And, for whatever reason, the sandwich board. I wish my local bike shop had a sign like that out front, with a big LEGO helmet for a logo. Thanks for sharing and great job. A not-so-shabby selection of spare parts, by the way, to make such a great building.
October 8, 201311 yr That's a good looking MOC. I like the color combo you've used and the 1x1 sign looks really effective, but I think it's the interior is what stands out - you've managed to get a lot into the space. Thanks for sharing it with us!
October 8, 201311 yr Very nice MOC 'StevOOO', I like the 'BIKE' sign.....excellent designing there and Brick On !
October 8, 201311 yr Nice Moc..The sign is really nice also having big windows one floor up looks good! Is the back wall 4 studs wide?
October 8, 201311 yr this is some great work, good use of space, like the bike repair under the stairs.
October 8, 201311 yr Great 1st MOC! I love the colours of the awning on the outside. The layout looks nice and the café is just nice to refresh tired bikers (I can relate to that!)!
October 8, 201311 yr Lovely building. I like the awning and the outside area for eating. It too bad there is no perfect way to make the letter K with bricks. My own moc has suffered the same effect.
October 8, 201311 yr Great little modular building! The signs work really well and the interior is very well done. I like the way the awning wraps around the building and the outside eating area looks very cosy makes me wanna scoff down a pizza after a long day riding! Great work and happy building
October 8, 201311 yr Congratulations for your first moc. It looks very nice both inside and outside. The best parts are the cyclist sign on the roof and the awning going around the corner. Just two suggestions: what about removing the middle brick in the right column of the letter 'B' in bike sign? It looks a bit like the number 8 the way it is built now. And if there is no room to take a proper photo of a certain detail, it is always possible to temporarily remove a part of the creation to get a good shot of it. Keep up the good work.
October 9, 201311 yr Really a nice, first MOC, StevOOO. I like how you managed to put a lot of details into small spaces, and it doesn't look cramped. Only one suggestion: the tables at the café should be a little higher. They seem rather low next to the chairs.
