Jim Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 I don't have a problem with adding sound(s) or music to the video Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 This is gonna be awesome! One question though; can you edit your entry before the deadline or once it's posted it's posted and that's the version that will be judged? Quote
Jim Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 You can edit until the deadline, and I quote: "The entry post may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish." So edit all you want! Quote
KirTech LAB Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I have one question: Are the chain links and tracks included into 500 parts, or the parts quantity counted without these small parts? Quote
Jim Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 I have one question: Are the chain links and tracks included into 500 parts, or the parts quantity counted without these small parts? Though question... If you keep the model small, we won't count every link or chain. A model like the snow groomer is okay, if you keep the other models within limits. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8263-1 Quote

Jim Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 We can live with 600-500-400 but no 1000-300-200. Hope you can all read a bit between the lines on this one. It's hard to measure, so keep the models within guestimates and try not to create an obvious main model. The point is to have three models act in unity. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 See if the middle model is the smallest ie.. a trailer with only 300 parts and the other two models are 700 and 500 would this be allowed? Quote
Lakop Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Nice competition with brilliant prizes just in time for christmas. I think the presentation element could be the difficult part. I will see what I can do and good luck to all who enter. H Quote
Jim Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 I was thinking about the trailer and I was hoping you wouldn't ask Where does this end? You need to limit the pulling vehicle to around 500 (maybe 600), so it will be 600-500-300. But let me think about this and come back to you guys with some clear answers tomorrow. Nice competition with brilliant prizes just in time for christmas. I think the presentation element could be the difficult part. I will see what I can do and good luck to all who enter. Presentation in actual environment is not mandatory, but it's appreciated. You don't need to travel to Alaska if you're making a snow groomer Quote
JM1971 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I was thinking a Evil Knieval jump bike with a launcher and a ramp, sticking to the part count should not be too much of a problem, sounds silly I must admit but it might work out if the bike can handle the jump. Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I have an awesome idea for this contest! >:D But I am also in the same position as Alasdair. I want to make a trailer but trailers don't use many parts... Quote

aol000xw Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 It might make no sense, too wide range... for example 100 100 100 vs 700 400 400 A minimum might help. For example each model 300-700 totalling 1500 max aprox, tracks and chains not included perhaps? Quote
D3K Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 It's veering more towards a 'max 1500 parts' now, I think it should rather be a definitive rule that puts the max level of on model at around 500 pieces.. So 500 + 500 + 500 is OK, 500 + 400 + 200 is OK etc, but not 700 + 300 + 500 ... Just my 2 cents though, Jim makes the rules Quote

Any one model can only have 500 parts as originally stated (give or take a sensible leeway). If another model only uses 300 parts then that's fine, but you can't use the 200 allowance you've saved elsewhere. You don't HAVE to use 1500 parts in total. If you only use 1000, that's fine. Quote
VKTechnic Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 What does it mean by "Entries are to be placed in the Entry topic in this forum?" Does that mean we should reply to this topic with our entry? Or start a new topic with [TRIPLE]? Quote

Brick_Laboratory Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Looks like a fun contest! Time to start thinking with technic... Quote
Blakbird Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 This contest fits in very well with the new "Construction Crew" set for 1H2014 which I believe would meet all the requirements for size and topic. It will be interesting to see how the entries compare with that official set, even though we don't know what it looks like yet. Quote

TasV Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Quick question... do all three models have to be made at once or can they be made separately and then LDD/POV-Ray renders etc used to present them on a suitable background? I'm not sure I have enough Lego to make all three models and may need to build each one individually and then deconstruct them to make the next one. I mean.. we seem to have half a room full of Lego but we've recently begun organising it so that my Sons and I can sit and build together, and to separate the Technic from the Bionicle from all the rest and the amount of Technic may not stretch that far and my budget won't extend to buying all the extra parts needed.
