I hate to sound pessimistic, but I'm going to anyway: what if all we find worth taking back is gold and treasure? And not very much of it at that? It's possible." Nyx shrugs "She will be one of six of us, I think she should have one sixth of the gold and treasure we may find, just as we will. Remember that Byblos will want his share too. Plus, she seems to want to go where we're headed for her own 'mission' anyway, so actually by accompanying her we're doing her a favour too. I don't think that's an unreasonable offer, given that her 'interest' is 'shared' with ours."

Sandy, you mentioned that the portal can instantly transport us to Eubric at any time, so does that mean we can pop back to visit Elphaba, or is that stretching the possibilities too much (and I'm only really asking out of interest). Nyx looks around at the environment as it changes more towards desert as they walk. As she walks with the others she glances occasionally at both Catnip and Byblos, wondering silently to herself how reliable they would turn out to be and musing that only time would tell. Time to enjoy the sunshine, while she can.

QM Note: How very perceptive of you. You can indeed return to Eubric through the portal and visit the Marketplace if you so choose. Nizam is indeed waiting for the party at the edge of the desert. "Ah, you made a new friend in the village, it seems! Well, the more the merrier, as they say. Let us brave the notorious Desert of Demons, then. But here's a few things you need to know first..." Travelling the Desert You must travel to the ruins of Azzurat through perilous sand dunes while watching out your water supplies and fending off monsters and sandstorms. You automatically consume one portion of the water in your canteen per each square you travel on the map. If your water runs out and you attempt to move, you will be knocked out. The canteens can be filled with a water-elemental spell (1 ether fills one canteen) or visiting one of the three oases. There are also two obelisks and a half-sunken pyramid marked on the map. If you get lost, you can seek out these locations to get back on track. Yes, you can get lost. Because of the cursed nature of the desert, magic compasses do not work and telescopes might show you mirages instead of what's really ahead. In each square of sand (not counting the oases and other specific locations), you have 1/3 chance of encountering prowling monsters and 1/3 chance of getting into a sandstorm. Sandstorms deal 30 earth- and wind-elemental damage to all party members as well as make you disoriented, losing your direction. Again, rely on the landmarks if you get lost. If you accidentally wander off the map, you will find yourself back in Farzibar. Oh, and each time you travel a square, you also receive 10 fire-elemental damage regardless of defense because of the heat. So don't take off those desert cloaks! "Let us venture on, then!" Nizam leads the party one square right on the map. Docken left his water canteen in his pouch, so he passes out as soon as the party moves, forcing the others to drag him with them. Namyrra suffers 10 fire damage from the heat. The party then continues onwards. Suddenly the wind rises. In a blink of an eye, the party is engulfed by a sandstorm! Namyrra is struck harsh by the sands despite her defenses, so she takes 20 earth- and wind-elemental damage as well as taking 10 fire-elemental damage from the heat. The other standing party members are protected from the razing sand by their cloaks, but they have lost their orientation. Which way will they attempt to go: onwards, backwards, right or left? Before Nammyrra's attempt to revive, Nyx bends to dig through Docken's belongings. She pulls out his Desert Cloak, wrapping it around him, and attaching his Water Canteen. She then removes his Medal and Counterstrike Gloves, figuring he can rearrange things how he likes when he's a little bit more alive. Spying the green genie, she raises an eyebrow and asks of it "Anything you can do for him, Green?"
