Pandora Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 "Gnargh!" Nyx growls as yet another spell fails to connect "It's not like he's even bloody moving! Gaaaah!" Nyx eyes the improved Byblos, pleased to see him looking better, and listens to Namyrra's suggestion. "Namyyra, I'm willing to bet that as soon as Byblos picks up that bloody book he will go back to being moody and grumpy Byblos, with all that Weak and Fragile and Slowed stuff too. I know it's a heavy tome, but he might feel better throwing another book at the baddies, like that poison one maybe? He can pick up the Pandemonicon at the end of the battle, maybe?" Nyx prepares to repeat her action yet again.
Quarryman Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 "Dearest Nyx, that does sound like a brilliant plan!" "Byblos, change of plan! Throw 100 venoms for beginners at Ororo instead! Still from the back row though!"
CMP Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Atramor again swings at Sabredancer A from the front row.

CMP Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) Atramor comes to his senses somewhere in the middle of the desert. What he thought were the enemies escaping turns out to have been just an illusion. Now he sees nothing but sand all around him. Worse yet, his canteen is empty, so if he attempts to move any more, he will be knocked out by dehydration. Gee, this sure is the intense and thrilling battle with the demonic forces of evil amidst the vast crumbling ruins of an ancient civilization buried in an exotic and foreign country that was advertised. "I have you now, you two-faced son of a- wha-?" The Pheles Rod passed right through Saladdin's head even as he and his band ran off. Atramor stumbled to a halt even as they dissipated into the air. The regulator blinked, then turned. Nothing but sand. He came to the realization of what must've happened fairly quickly. "Oh, damn it." '<It was at least amusing,>' remarked McCafferey, hopping off his shoulders and fluttering onto the ground. He merely grumbled, also dropping down to the ground, casting the Pheles Rod to the side as he sat. He'd rather the purple-eyed bitch knock him out than send him running off to who the hell knows where. Atramor popped open his canteen idly, though he had no delusions about what was inside. He gave the container a few vigorous shakes before stuffing it back into his cloak. "The hell do I keep ending up separated from everyone but you?" '<The same reason the weak-willed scholar ended up along with you. The same reason you continuously deny despite all evidence to the con->' "Fate. Aye. Right. Forget I asked, this ain't the time for another philosophical debate, I got enough of those fightin' Wren." Atramor scratched his chin. "Can't leave this spot without passin' out. Can't get any more water without our resident pyromaniac around, ironically. Can't talk with anyone but you and the weapon that got me into this in the first place..." '<Perhaps you need to expand your definition of talk.>' The regulator stared for a moment, then blinked, an idea springing to mind. He dug around in his cloak and pulled out the raggedy, neglected Sylvania's Cowl. He swapped it out from the crumpled Tricorne that'd been stuffed underneath his hat, getting to his feet and sliding his Shovel out from its spot slung across his back. He jammed the tool into the sand and began to dig (as much as he could without being dehydrated), occasionally speaking to the ground using his Animal Talk to try and find...something. "<Anythin' down there? Desert bugs? Sand mice? Angry demons, at least?>" Edited November 7, 2013 by CallMePie
Quarryman Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 "Oh crap, why did he have to run away now? This battle really isn't going our way.. I guess we should leave Ororo alone until we have an undead or two to deal with her." "Catnip, repeat please." Namyrra sends a darkness spell at Saracen Sabredancer A. Pandora Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Nyx fails to suppress a snigger. "That is absolutely hila.. terrible" her expression changes from amusement to not very convincing seriousness in a heartbeat "It's terrible, tragic. Awful, even. So we'll obviously have to go rescue him after this." Nyx coughs and looks around shiftily. "Hey, look! I hit him! Ok, so I woke him up, but I did actually managed to hit him again." a hopeful look "I guess I'll try that again, then. Fingers crossed everybody." Battle order: Namyrra Docken Byblos Catnip *cough*
Sandy Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 The regulator stared for a moment, then blinked, an idea springing to mind. "<Anythin' down there? Desert bugs? Sand mice? Angry demons, at least?>" Atramor dug and dug in the desert heat, sweat dropping down his forehead. McCafferey had taken shelter inside his hat that he had abandoned in place of the cowl. He began to feel woozy and nauseous, so eventually he had to stop. There was not a living thing in sight. The regulator turned his face towards the merciless sun that seemed to fill the sky. He started to see it as a great big eye, staring down at him as if it were just waiting to see him give up and die. Then Atramor heard a voice that he hadn't heard in a while. He wasn't sure if he was hallucinating again, but he was too exhausted and thirsty to care. "YOU PATHETIC MORTAL, WHY DID YOU BRING ME HERE? THIS PLACE WILL BE THE END OF BOTH OF US! THIS DESERT IS AHRIMAN'S DOMINION. I CAN SENSE HIS PRESENCE IN THE AIR. SOMETHING MUST HAVE SUMMONED HIM FROM THE VOID INTO THE PHYSICAL WORLD. YOU CANNOT HOPE TO DEFEAT HIM IN SUCH A SORRY STATE YOU'RE IN, AND MY POWERS ARE WANING AS WELL. AHRIMAN IS NOT CALLED THE ENVIOUS EYE FOR NOTHING. HE SAPS POWER FROM OTHERS LIKE A LEECH, NOT WANTING ANYONE TO OUTMATCH HIM - NOT EVEN OTHER ARCHDEMONS. YOU'RE IN DEEP TROUBLE NOW, AND I CANNOT PULL YOU OUT OF IT." If anythin', whenever the hell I decide to pick you up everyone seems to aim AT me. You're the damn reason I'm in this mess in the first place. Ya' know, just because you're weakenin' doesn't mean I am. You've been killed by heroes twice, once by me, so forgive me if I don't give a damn about your superiors in whatever hellhole ya'll crawled out of. I've been in worse situations than this, against enemies at least as bad as a giant friggin' eyeball, so if ya' shut up and help me out as best as ya' damn well can, we've got a reasonable chance of not gettin' destroyed. Again." Atramor tiredly kicked the Pheles Rod a few feet across the sand, and turned his back on it. '<Well handled.>' "Shut up," snapped the regulator in annoyance, sitting back down. "Ya'd think bein' the lost in the middle of the desert would be a good place for some quiet. No, instead, I've got no less than two demons for company. Three, if ya' count Airman," Atramor flipped off the sun in a useless gesture of defiance, then wiped off his forehead. "That damn ape owes me one for this. Probably would've shriveled up and died by now."

Pandora Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Nyx just shakes her head. So damn unlucky, but at least no-one got hurt. Resignedly, she just prepares to repeat again, but fearing the worst.

CMP Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Atramor scratched his head, still at a loss, and took a glance at his footprints to determine in which direction he came from, and if there were any others in the sand.
Sandy Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 OoC: undead can't be used to soak up free hits, right? QM Note: Actually, they can be, just like Evoker's summons. I have a feeling I should change that, though. Atramor scratched his head, still at a loss, and took a glance at his footprints to determine in which direction he came from, and if there were any others in the sand. Atramor sees his footsteps clear on the sandy dunes. He could probably follow them back to the oasis if he wasn't out of water. There are no other footprints on the sand.
CMP Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Atramor sees his footsteps clear on the sandy dunes. He could probably follow them back to the oasis if he wasn't out of water. I meant in a literal direction kind of way. If I can get into unmapped territory I'll end up in Farzibar. Where hopefully someone can revive me.
Sandy Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 QM Note: Actually, they can be, just like Evoker's summons. I have a feeling I should change that, though. QM Note: And I changed it. Sorry. I meant in a literal direction kind of way. If I can get into unmapped territory I'll end up in Farzibar. Where hopefully someone can revive me. QM Note: You're lost and the sun is high up on the sky. There's no way for Atters to determine the direction short of "that-a-way".

Pandora Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 "What have you got against demonologists, Saladdin? Not that I study demons, I prefer blowing them up, but demonologists seems to be a strange group of people to take a disliking to." Nyx looks around the small battlefield. A few people could do with healing, including her, but there were still a good number of annoyances around. She eyes up the remaining Nomad, figuring she has the best chance of taking him out in one go and also survive any damage. She aims a Darkness spell at Saracen Nomad A through her Standard from the back row.
Brickdoctor Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 "Perhaps Master Byblos could Seal Saracen Mirager Ororo instead of again temporarily disabling the Pyromancer. The Pyromancer's Free Hit doesn't deal as much Damage as the Mirager's does, anyways, though it doesn't make a difference if I take the Free Hit; and we were already taking the risk of triggering Inner Fire before with Miss Nyx attacking the Pyromancer not knowing if Master Byblos would successfully Seal him or not." I attack Saladdin, Prince of Thieves from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow.

"It's a great idea but that woman is immune to pretty much everything, including sleep and sealed. Mind you the great thing about Byblos is that he's 100% guaranteed to read a scroll successfully - a skill I'd love to pick up myself. I'm giving up on fire-pants for now anyway, so maybe Byblos should put him back to sleep so he stops bothering us." Nyx shrugs.
